Expected better, too wobbly and plastic parts for the price
Really wanted to love this tripod and I did a lot of research before buying it. Unfortunately it doesn't measure up and won't work for me. It is not an unusable product by any means, but for me and the way I use it and for the name brand and price, I just expected it to blow me away with the fit, form and function. **Pros: At firs glance this tripod felt decent and looks well-made. The leg clips are very nice and snap into place and allow adjustment if they get loose in the future, which I really like. The legs extend and retract well and the bag was decent quality and fit well. The ball head has a dual tilt adjustment which allows it to be moved while "snug" then tightened down from there, a nice feature to keep your camera from dropping like a free weight. It does fold down to near 16", which is very compact. **Cons: When I first extended the legs I noted that it was "spindly", meaning that with any weight it could wobble or shake. I included a picture of the bottom legs on the Manfrotto and next to it a budget tripod I own that was $59. The Manfrotto legs are simply too thin and not stable enough when extended. I thought I could overlook it and talked myself into simply hanging a sandbag onto it to help stabilize it. That's when I noticed the bag hook was not only off-center, it was plastic. I work in the cold sometimes and the plastic hook will undoubtedly snap when under stress from a sandbag and cold, once bumped. Also, the adapter plate is too fiddly. It should simply drop in and tighten down (or snap in), but this one needs a simultaneous tilt of a release tab and a rotation of a clamp while simultaneously trying to line the plate up blind, because it is under the camera, then release the tabs to lock it in place. I'm certain with practice this would get easier, but one shouldn't have to practice this. Lastly the extension tube lock is odd, takes a lot of turns to release it and then it can be pushed down or up, but it is sticky and clunky while moving, just feels cheap. Then it needs a lot of turns and once it "feels" tight, you need to keep tightening or it will slowly slip down. So overall I'm sure it will work for someone who needs portability over everything else and maybe uses it for a cell phone indoors. But for me using heavier varied equipment in outdoor conditions with uneven ground, wind and cold, this simply won't work, and the price is too high for me give it's capabilities. Hope this helps!

Extremely well made, solid tripod
I am using this tripod with my Nikon D800 with a 200-500mm ED lens and a Neewer gimbal head. It is a very solid platform, that is lightweight enough to easily transport to where it's needed. The head that's provided is also very made (I'm using it on another tripod with my Canon 70D and 100-400mm L lens. All around great purchase of a very good quality tripod.

Convenient twist leg latches, same ball head as series 055
The GT-twist same ball head as the 055 (40% more expensive) and 190 (23%) more expensive. Convenient twist leg latches that work from any angle instead of the 1-position tabs. Great balance between strength, weight and sturdiness. It came with the nice quick release latch, but for my Nikon Z fc (retro) I'll need to file the plate some in order to be able to use the battery/SD card door while the latch plate is on. Small issue considering the universal plate.

A good value tripod
After a lot of research, I chose this as my travel tripod for general travel, but also for backcountry landscape photography. It may not be as light as the carbon fiber options out there, but it also costs a lot less than those. It packs up small enough for me to secure it to a daypack. I like the lever locks on the leg segments rather than twist locks. From my initial use, it seems quite sturdy and the ball head locks up tightly. It supports my full-frame DSLR easily. I haven’t used the stability hook since conditions have not yet required it. The one thing I dislike is that I couldn’t get Manfrotto’s Arca Swiss compatible mount at the time of purchase. I had to get it as a separate purchase. So, now I have a Manfrotto quick-release mount that I will never use because my PeakDesign capture clips are not compatible with it. I would have preferred saving $50 by having the option for the Arca Swiss mount when I bought the tripod. My report on durability will obviously have to wait until I’ve used it a bit more.

sacrifice light weight for stability.
this folds down pretty small. Much larger than my last manfrotto travel tripod. But, its much sturdier. I guess I will use this one when I have the space and weight allowance to add the extra pound of weight difference. I like it though. Good design. Folds down nice.

too expensive for what it is.
The legs are too skinny / weak for the price paying for this tripod. I'm disappointed.

Not an Arca friendly head clamp
This is my second manfrotto tripod. I have a larger one but was looking for something more compact and well-built for traveling. My first take on the Befree is very positive but also very disappointed with their RC2 mounting system. The ads give the impression it works with Arca but my other Arca plates will not fit this RC2 adaptor. If I understood this I would have kept looking for another tripod before making the purchase. I have ordered a replacement plate adaptor to try. Disappointed I have to spend extra dollars on an expensive high quality tripod to make it compatible with standard equipment....

Not for heavy lens
This product though, well made, is not what it claims to be. The product spec states it can handle 8Kgs or 17lbs. I mounted a Nikon D850 with a 200-500 mm lens. I weighed the camera and lens and it turned out to be approx around 3.5Kgs say even 4 Kgs. The shake in the camera was like they show an earthquake in the movies, I could even notice the strain in the legs. So I quickly removed the camera and lens and packed it back and am returning it. However the mechanism is well tuned and the ball head works well. Go for this tripod, only if you will not use heavy lens.

STILL NO REPLY!! I'm very unsatisfied. Not giving up.
My last review here got no reply from the seller Manfrotto given the time I take it they don't care and ignore. Simply put my last review mentioned a big issue mentioning the tripod head falling off with my Fujifilm X100F camera attached this all happened so fast but appears the tripod head hit first at the bottom causing minor but noticeable cosmetic damage and camera got a bit dirty and shaken up it's working though even now, hopefully no future effects. So yeah I'M VERY UNSATISFIED writing again VERY UPSET too, Manfrotto GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER and REPLY. I refuse to use this tripod again the head should NEVER just fall off. I'll be happy to send the tripod back but DEMAND A FULL REFUND. Tripod is junk. Must ask again What happened to Manfrotto quality? Fellow shoppers please do take care. Tripod head may be tight at the base, function well but can have issues like mine did where the head comes off from the base even with light equipment like a Fujifilm X100F, I thought to use lock tight not getting a reply back but feel it's risky and am trying to get a reply again to do a return and full refund.

Two Legs fell completely out, will not screw back in, ball joint seizes up, NOT WORTH IT AT ALL!
Some how this tripod extremely let me down. First few days I shot with it, two of the legs came completely out and the plastic piece won't fit back in. The twist locks are so unpredictable and not fast at all! You don't know if its locked or not, wouldn't recommend getting this one, as I've had way to many problems with it. The ball joint nozzle gets stuck on occasion and won't allow my camera to shift angles when shooting, usually making me miss a shot opportunity. It is lightweight so definitely would recommend putting something heavy on the bottom to weigh it down if you have a heavier lens like myself or else your camera will fall and break trust me, already lost my best lens to this tripod mess. I missed my return date because I've been so busy and working nonstop due to covid, so now im stuck with a useless tripod that I can't even use. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND BUYING! Not worth the price I paid, nor is it even close!!

Does its job so far...
Bought this for my p1000. I remember my old cheap tripods from the late 90s and comparing it to these is laughable. for 270$ I was expecting a little higher quality. It does its job so far but it feels kind of flimsy and ready to break if I dont treat it like its paper. When fully extended I tighten up all the legs and just holding the camera seems to retract them no matter how tight. My old ones never did this. The ball head is nice though it holds the camera quite well. Only 1 week with it so far so we will see how long it holds up.
