Better than the big box hardware store's brand
I previously purchased a set of safety earmuffs from the big box hardware store. Those earmuffs were of the orange and black variety. While they served me well (I like wearing them when mowing the grass or using my edger to trim the lawn), I felt that I could probably do better. For just a bit more money I found these and decided to give them a try. I I have a bit or a large head and my first concern was whether the head strap would extend enough for me to get a good, comfortable seal on my ears. At first these did not seem to extend far enough and I was concerned these would be a waste of time. However, after playing with the extension a bit I found that they do, indeed, extend far enough. As a result, I am quite pleased with how much better these block out extraneous noise than my previous pair. They provide a very good seal and they are relatively comfortable. The muffs around the ear are not quite as soft as my stereo headphones that I like to wear for music, but these are by no means uncomfortable. I have no issues wearing them for an extended period of time when working with mowers and power equipment. My only reason for giving them 4 stars is that I would prefer just a bit more extension in the head band. That said, these are a worthy upgrade and I will use them as my go-to earmuffs. I would recommend them.

Not As Good As Expected
I really wanted some noise-canceling earmuffs, but these don't cancel the noise, they muffle it. I placed the MAKO Safety Earmuffs over my ears as directed. That meant that I had nothing between my skin and the earmuffs, not even any of my own hair. They completely covered my ears, but there wasn't any space left on the band going over my head. I don't see how someone with a large head could use these earmuffs!! Once I had them properly positioned, I noticed all the sounds in the room. They were muffled some, but I could definitely hear all the sounds. I got these because I purchased a handgun earlier in the year and I wanted them to use when I am practicing with it. Now I feel that I will still hear the gun, but just not as loudly. I am disappointed, but I can deal with it. I will keep them and know that they will protect my ears somewhat if not totally. I guess at this low price I should have known that they wouldn't cancel the sounds. They did include a neat little bag to store them when they aren't being used. So, I'll recommend them if you realize they won't cancel the sounds, just make them less deafening.

Does a so-so job.
I have an exceptionally large head coming in at 7 3/4 hat size. These things are tight, very tight on my head. I have that problem with ear muffs sometimes, and tend to stretch them out, not without fear of breaking them; these didn't break. Onto the sound reduction. I turned on the TV really loud and they cut the sound down to about 40 or 50%. I can't attest to the DB attenuation because I am not an expert in that field. The noise reduction is sufficient that if you are doing something really loud it could make the difference between your ears ringing, or if loud enough potential damage to being able to sail through a situation like that without any harm. The crazy thing is the price. I just got a set of ear plugs I am not too happy with either. Maybe if I combine them...? I have a set of 3M worksite ear muffs with radio and phone use and they do a great job. I must say you do want to hear a little bit of outside noises so you can be safe, but what is the ideal level? More than they produce.

Good, but don't think they meet the 26dB attenuation rating
Build is solid, good materials and workmanship. I expect they'll hold up fine. I have an extra-large head (like I wear an XL motorcycle helmet) and these fit fine, but they are at the extent of their adjustability, so there could be an issue for those with a lovely large head like mine ("the better to fit all those brains in, my dear"). The attenuation just doesn't seem to be 26dB, especially at higher frequencies. I wouldn't want to run a router with these on, for instance. I think it's hard to have too many hearing protectors and these will find a home for lighter duty hanging on some machine in the shop. But if this were a first/main pair, I would definitely spring the $20-something for the 3M Peltor H10As with a real 30dB attenuation level https://www.amazon.com/3M-Peltor-Optime-Earmuff-H10A/dp/B007JZCVAQ/. My pair of those stands up to anything my shop can put out and there's no such thing as too much attenuation in my mind, especially when hearing has a way of getting lost all by itself.

Great for the price!!
These are no $200 pair of earmuffs, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well they work! I go shooting with my husband occasionally but do not shoot as much as I just hang around and watch. I appreciate that I can still talk to my husband with these on but not feel like the gun shot is so loud every single time. Overall they are comfortable to an extent! Wearing them longer than 20 minutes at a time did kind of irritate my head and ears but that is expected with any ear muffs. Overall a great cheap solution!

They work well
These work a lot better than the basic muffs that many of the ranges around here offer you as part of a lane rental (if you haven't brought your own). Theirs usually only go so far in protecting your ears where these will do the job much nicer. Not as nice as some of the 34db options that we also have on hand here. It is noticeable between the two, but again, this still works well enough that it should work out fine. The only thing we would lean toward is these muffs would be best for power tools and other garage work where noise may be a concern (compressors, etc). For a shooting range, we'd still lean toward the 34db option instead.
