Great, accurate thermostat
I wanted a millivolt thermostat for my gas fireplace. This is easy to read, accurate and easy to set. I discovered it mounted nicely to the wall box that had housed a light switch. The device had to be mounted 90 degrees from top but works fine.

Great Thermostat (so far)
My five star rating assumes the thermostat will have a long functional life (10+ years). If it fails prematurely, I would drop my rating to the minimum "1". (I think all mechanical/electrical devices sold should be designed for a minimum 10 year life). My previous thermostat was a fancier programmable type; it lasted 13+ years before it started acting up. Turns out I never used the programmable features, one reason being the internal clock didn't keep good time. When I realized I had to replace it (quickly) it was, naturally, a 100 degree day and I couldn't keep the A/C running. So I ran down and got this LUX DMH110 non-programmable one at my local ACE Hardware (in "ACE" packaging and without the "LUX" name on front) for about $28.00. Installing it meant drilling new holes in the wallboard and patching the old (why can't all thermostats have the same mounting hole pattern?). Wiring was no problem; the instructions have adequate diagrams. The factory Jumper settings were fine EXCEPT for the JP3 swing temperature (the temperature range below and above set temperature establishing when your A/C or furnace starts and stops). It comes with Jumper JP3 "closed: narrow range". The instructions don't say what the "narrow" and "wide" ranges actually ARE. I went with the "narrow" and quickly found that my A/C cycled on and off about every 7 minutes and the ambient temperature displayed did not vary from my set temperature. This was unsatisfactory so I removed the thermostat and set Jumper JP3 to the "open: wide range". (When you make such a change, be sure to push the white "reset" button before remounting it). The thermostat then operated my A/C with a range of about +/- 1 degree (F). I hardly thought that was a "wide" range, but was acceptable to me. I subsequently talked to a LUX technical person who told me the "narrow" range is +/- ¾ degree (F), and the "wide" range is +/- 1 ¼ degree (F). This thermostat has some outstanding features, including: Large Lighted Display. Although it only shows (large) ambient temp., or alternately, the set temp., you can easily see it. It also has the backlight (when a button is pushed) that is great when the room is dark. I would have preferred to have it display both ambient and set temps., simultaneously, but that's not essential. Note: the instructions say the "heat" or "cool" mode will be shown on the display; MINE DOESN'T. Replaceable Face. The electrical works are in the face part, with pin connections to the wall mounted back-plate wiring terminals when the face is "snapped" on. This should allow for easy replacement of an identical face part should the thermostat fail. I have in fact purchased a spare, identical thermostat from LUX via Amazon.com for $25.00. So, my total investment is less than $60.00 (not bad). Correctable Ambient Temperature. The instructions cover correcting the ambient temperature displayed. I don't know if it works because my thermostat was dead-on. Disclaimer: I have only used the thermostat for my A/C. I have assumed it will also operate satisfactorily for my Furnace.

Perfect for fish house
Simple installation simple operation. Used this in my Yetti fish house. Batteries still going strong going into second season. I like that you can set the temp swings before it kicks on. Which is important when you are on the ice and its -20 out with 20 mph winds. Major upgrade over spring style thermostat.

OK for rentals or apartments, but otherwise there are much better choices
I was looking forward to using this thermostat, and was surprised at all the features it had, especially in this price range. Unfortunately, it never worked correctly, and I could never get the temp to be accurate, even at the 1 setting on swing control. AC was off a degree both ways, so could never really get it dialed in. For example (Swing Control at 2, Thermo set at 75, Thermo would kick on at 76, and drop to 75 )or Swing at 1, Thermo set at 75, Thermo kick on at 75, kick off at 74). Not awful, but still not working correctly according to the swing control numbers listed in the owners manual. Heat was dreadfully off, swinging all over the place, even with swing at zero. Some of this is my furnaces fault, as I believe that when the HVAC company had to move my furnace, I think they knocked something that is affecting my control board, as even with my new, very accurate thermostat, I am still a degree off on heat. But with this LUX, heat could swing upwards to 4 degrees, even with swing at 1. IMO, its just not worth it. Since you should get a good 10yrs+ with a thermostat, spend the extra 20 bucks and you have much better choices. I really like the Emerson 1F86EZ-0251 for 45 bucks. It has 3 swings for Heat, and 2 for AC, and is dead accurate. The Honeywell's that are in the 40+ dollar range are supposed to be very accurate also. I will give the Lux an edge over the cheap 20 dollar Honeywell's. I had one, and it was much worse in accuracy then the Lux. Maybe this would be a thermostat to use for rentals or apartment's, but as a home owner, I would stay away. I am also deducting a star for Lux's poor customer service. I emailed them as my thermostat was under warranty, and obviously the swing settings werent working correctly. I never heard back from them for a refund.

Excellent value, easy to wire, and easy to use.
Thermostat is easy to install. I bought a couple because I have separate propane heaters in two rooms of our garage. Both propane heaters were 2 wire types (Modine HotDawg and a standing piolet Williams direct vent). The thermostats have about a 1 inch high display so they are easy to see. The default display is the current temperature in the room. To increase to decrease the heat, push the corresponding button, the display lights up and you can adjust accordingly. When you let go of the up or down button, the display will stay lighted for a few seconds then go out. A quick tap of the up or down button will show you currently what the thermostat is set for, without changing the set value. It does run on a couple of batteries which I suspect Alkaline batteries will be good for at least a couple of years.

Simple, eash to use and get the job done.
Easy to install. Also solve the problem i have with my old thermostate. My old one restart heating cycle every 7 mins in the winter time. For the lux you can adjust the temperature to let it run a little bit longer. And more time between each start.

RV Replacement Thermostat
this is the second time I have purchased this Thermostat to replace an inferior mechanical on in a RV. This will do both Heat and Cool (if your rv is already wired this way) We do a lot of winter camping and the furnace does not cycle nearly as much as the standard TStat. Easy to use and nice big display so I dont need my glasses. You will need a basic understanding of how RV heaters and AC work, but there is lots on the internet
