Don’T Cut, Rub
I wanted a simple way to tie garden debri, mostly palm fronds. This concept if perfect, but the cutting edge doesn’t! You have to rub the twine so long scissors are faster and that negates the entire purpose of this purchase. However, the can keeps the twine controlled.

Growers twine
Just what I needed to tie up my tomatoes

> DOES THE JOB
DESCRIPTION A strong tough but soft brown twine which is ideal for tying up plants, or any other uses for twine. Comes in a convenient "tin" dispenser can. The "fraying" rustic look may be good for some craft projects or tying up gifts. This is NOT butcher's (or cooking) twine, and should NOT be used for cooking. For cooking use:Norpro Stainless-Steel Holder with Cotton Cooking Twine, 220 feet COMPARED TO ORIDINARY JUTE TWINE Ordinary jute is more brittle and less flexible, and therefore not as easy to tie knots with. Luster Leaf is soft and easy to tie. BIODEGRADABLE A presumed feature of this twine is that (compared to wire, nylon twine, or plastic cable ties) it is "biodegradable", i.e., by the time your plant is established the twine will rot rather than constricting the growth of the plant. If you want the twine to hold for more than a year, you might consider some stronger and/or non-biodegradable material. DISPENSER CAN > True, the built in cutter is not terribly sharp, but it does work, just "saw" the twine back and forth. You can sharpen it in just a minute or two with a metal file or with a rotary stone and your Dremel tool. > You can attach the can to your belt (or belt loop) with a 6" bungy.SE 6" Ball Bungee Cord Canopy Tarp Tie Down Straps > The lid of the can is not too tight and can be bumped off. This is easily fixed by slightly mashing the lid (take it off the can first) to make the fit tighter. Alternatively, you can tape the lid on with blue painters tape. The tape is easily removable and reusable.ScotchBlue Painter's Tape for Multi-Surfaces 2090-.75A, 3/4 Inches by 60 Yards, 1 Roll REFILL You can refill the despenser can withLuster Leaf Rapiclip Garden Twine Natural - 200 Foot Roll 874 . However, it is cheaper to buy the twine with the dispenser can: $8 for the can with 325' of twine works out to 2.4 cents per foot. The refill at 200' for $6 is 3 cents per foot. > Click on “Stoney” just below the product title to see my other reviews, or leave a comment to ask a question.

Twine Doesn't Pull from the Center of the roll
I would have given four or five stars if the twine was pulling from the center of the roll instead of the outside. Since it's not pulling from the center, you can't just pull a piece and cut; you have to take the lid off and feed it throw the hole in the lid and around the blade to cut a piece. I'm not sure why they wouldn't make this a center pull roll of twine. It's not very strong. I have had it come a part a couple times when tying up tomato plants and pole beans, but it still is service a purpose and is better for the environment than plastic.

good stuff
good for tying my tomatoes. I was always misplacing my ball of twine and scissors out in the garden. So... I put the ball in a coffee can, drilled a hole in the lid, run the twine thru the hole. Then put a magnet on the lid with double stick stuff. Put scissors on the magnet ready to cut.

love this twine
I find this twine easy to tie, a good gauge and a good green color that blends well with plants. I have trouble finding this particular twine in garden centers, so I always buy two at a time.

Straight Up Works
The trick to cutting the twine with the top is to pull straight up quickly. I keep wanting to pull across back to the direction it comes out of the can in the same way I might cut with a knife edge. It doesn't work that way. And I have to remind myself to pull straight up while holding a thumb over the hole for the line feed. Straight up works every time. Pull across like a blade never works. The color comes off onto my hands or gloves enough to see a tinge. It must wash off easily since I don't notice the color except when I'm in the garden. I've been using the twine to tie up vegetables in the garden onto supports. The twine is soft enough that I haven't had trouble with stems being cut by it. I like having the twine in a can so that I can toss it into the bucket of hand tools I carry with me when making my rounds. I had some other twine that turned itself into a ball of knots. This is better.

Weak
Delivery time was bad. £30 for some twine, I expected decent quality but it is rubbish and rots after a short time in use in the garden.

This works fine for me!
I keep this in my gardening bag. I left it in the bag (with just the top cut open) to keep it from unravelling over time. I've only used it so far to help stake my tomato plants earlier, but if you're a gardening, you know you need this stuff lying around in your shed and/or garage. Lol. It was $7.49 when I bought it in July, but I see now that at the time of this review it's $9.34. I was happy to find it on amazon, and as a Prime item, as it saved me a trip wandering through a hardware store for a ball of twine. Lol.

Very low strength.
Perhaps I was asking too much of this product. I used it to trellis a beefsteak tomato plant that produced a heavy crop and it proved to be unable to support the weight. Oversight on my part likely, but worth noting.

A good product…green twine blends in nicely with flowers and plants.I like it.
Strong twine…and cutting mechanism attached to container makes it easy to cut. I would purchase it again when needed

as that is a lot cheaper in the long run and more sturdy.
I bought this to string up tomato plants. These plants got to 8 feet tall and the weight of the plants was too much for this product. If you are doing something similar, I suggest buying a huge roll of baler twine instead, as that is a lot cheaper in the long run and more sturdy.
