Repeat customer

When our daughter bought a house with a shed and asked which lock she should get, I ordered this since we've had ours for several years with no complaints. Weatherproof and easy to set the code. One order was flawless. One order was not. Mentioning it only as a "buyer beware" so you read the Amazon Warehouse *used* descriptions better than I did. That order shipped a lock with no packaging. Perhaps that could have been ok if the combo was set but it wasn't. No idea what it was and I wasn't going to spin through 10,000 possibilities hoping to figure it out. I returned that one with a note. The lock itself is still a solid 5 star product, just wanted to help someone read the *used* description better because I could have saved myself some time if I had.

Sturdy, but the rubber flap is flimsy

The metal parts of the lock are well made. It's easy to follow the directions to set the combo. What I don't like about it is the rubber flap on the bottom feels cheap and does not close securely against the metal. A hard wind would easily blow it open. If they had a way that it snapped into the base better, it would be great.

Sturdy

No issues with this lock. Leaving it out in the weather and working the combination dials often. The dials does have a little protection door on it. This lock might be more than I need for my side gate but I’m not complaining, the person looking to get in might.

good lock. flimsy rubber protector..

At first I didn't like this lock but it has grown on me after using it awhile. The largest downside is the rubber guard over the dials used to protect it from water ingress. It comes off easily.

Heavy duty lock with features to fool the thief

The lock is heavy duty and solid built. An excellent feature that will fool a thief is that the markers on the dial give the impression that combination seems to be set at the middle line marker, when actually it is to be aligned at the top dash markers. The only problem with this lock I had was that today when I tried to move the dials to open the lock, the dials will not move. I had to try so many times after which I was able to move the dial to align the combo and was able to open. It seems there are times when the dials will not move so easily. Otherwise, a solid lock and will discourage thieves.

Good product for the price

Easy to set combination.... ..but, the rubber weather seal isn't very very tight.

Large heavy duty lock with covered combination

Good SOLID & HEAVY DUTY lock with larger shackle. Check your area of application because it may not fit in some areas of use. I bought this wanting & needing a large shackled & bodied lock. Like the way there is a rubber cover over the combination area to help seal from weather & dust. Really like how easy it is to change the combination as needed without extra pin or such required. Will definitely buy again when needed.

It's a lock.

It does lock. You can program the numbers you want it to open to, very nice.

Sturdy ... but is it weatherproof?

Master locks have a good reputation. I've used a lot of them over the years and was never disappointed. I purchased this one to lock a hangar where the lock is exposed to rain, snow, ice - all weather. I was hoping this lock would not freeze as other locks did. It isn't winter yet (up here in Canada) so I cannot be 100% sure but already the rubber mat protecting the numbers keeps falling off. Not a good sign. Resetting the numbers to 0 is a bit cumbersome as it takes two hands to do it properly. I give it four stars to be reviewed perhaps when winter comes. I expected more from Master.

Ease of use

The lock appears to be very sturdy and easy to use. As to weather resistant I’m not sure as the moulded rubber that covers the dial will flop open very easy. Will this let moisture in easier…I don’t know. Other than that it appears very sturdy.

Good lock for price.

This is a solid sturdy lock. I'm surprised its only a 7 on the Master Lock scale as I've seen worse higher rated ones. The numbers on the dial are only supposed to turn one way. I am not sure if the reviewers who said their dial broke knew that or not, but keep it in mind.
