Impossible to set new code
I bought this, tried to follow the directions and it wont work. Now neither the default code or the one i set works. waste of money.

Perfect size.
Perfect size...Perfect color! Don’t let the rose gold fool ya, this lock is super strong and sturdy! I use it on my 21” luggage but will also use it on my larger suitcase as well. I highly recommend this item. Pretty and TSA approved...I’m considering buying another one on GP.

Keeps honest people honest...
So let's be clear - this isn't the kind of lock that's going to stand up against an determined crook. There is a sturdy-looking body, granted, but the shackle is thin and will provide only the barest resistance to a set of bolt cutters. Granted, this lock is not sold as something impenetrable, but I think it's important to adjust expectations. And that's why I say this lock is there mainly to keep honest people honest. Another thing to be aware of is that your friendly TSA screener is going to have a key to this lock. That's why it's TSA-accepted. So second thing to be aware of is if you're using this to try and secure luggage that may be out of your control (like checked luggage...does TSA even let you lock checked bags anymore?), the TSA guy is going to have only the most minor of inconveniences in getting around the lock. Now assuming all this is acceptable to you, it's an appropriate lock. I prefer the dial combination over a key lock, especially in this size, since key locks are pretty darned easy to pick. This one at least has some resistance to that. On the other hand, as I said, a small bolt cutter will make short work of the shackle. I tested the lock strength by putting the lock body in my vise and pulling on the shackle with some pliers. It did hold up quite well, certainly under more force than I'd reasonably expect from an opportunistic thief at the airport. So all in all, it's a lock that's made well given the limitations that TSA is imposing on us. It was a little confusing to change the combination, but even at that it only took about five minutes to figure it out. So for a luggage lock...it's good.

Nicer than a lot of TSA approved locks
There's good and bad news about TSA approved locks like this one. I've bought several and used them each time I fly. This one by South Main is nicer quality than most. Some I've used in the past are little more than the cheap locks you'd see on a kids toy diary. The problem I've run into is even though each time I fly I've paid extra money for TSA approved locks like this one, the TSA still cuts them off my luggage every time. Even though they are supposed to be able to open them without cutting them, they always still cut them off and I get my bags on the other side with a letter inside letting me know they've been in my luggage. Obviously having a lock on the luggage is needed anyway to keep everyone else out. But I've often wondered if it's worth paying the extra money each time for a TSA approved locks since each time I fly they cut off and toss them anyway. Since in my case they seem to cut and throw away all my locks, I've debated just getting cheaper locks and letting them cut those instead. Hopefully I'll be able to keep this lock on my luggage more than one flight and get to actually see it on the other side of my flight and can tell if it keeps my bag zipped and closed, and doesn't get cut and tossed right away.
