Solid shelf

I purchased and returned several shelves such as these before landing on the Casual Home shelves. These were some of the only shelves that I found that are actually made of wood (like real, solid wood), instead of particleboard wrapped in laminate. The shelves were very easy to put together. My critical feedback is that you can see some of the tiny nail holes in the front of the shelf (they should have tacked it from the back) but the chances are good most people won't notice unless they're looking specifically for the tiny pin-sized holes. Additionally, I considered giving it another spray with white paint as the finish is fairly thin. Lastly, the top only connects in one place with a mechanical fastener. this allows to the top to be pulled off of the bottom. So I applied wood glue to secure the top to the bottom. Despite these three criticisms, I'm still giving this a 5 star review because this is the best of the shelves that I have found that isn't total junk.

Elegant solution

It's actually a 4.5 rating but no option to do that. it looks wonderful. I thought it was an elegant solution for getting the wifi router off the floor but still have something not obstructing any signal. All while enhancing decor. The structure is solid enough to stand on its own but it of course comes with safety screws to the wall. The pilot holes were a bit tight for the screws so it was slightly more work. but the fact that they gave you a hefty alan wrench means the screws were not going to strip and I appreciated that. I also considered just a leaning one without the back legs but i think this is more sturdy and does it in a minimalistic style.

Easy to Assemble, Simple and Attractive Shelf

The Casual Home 5-Shelf Ladder Bookcase is a simple and attractive bookshelf that adds a delightful point of interest to a room while displaying books and other decorative items. The shelf is easy to assemble, has a nice sturdy feel to it, and has "steps" that are wide enough to hold many items. I was able to assemble the shelf by myself within an hour - it probably would've taken less time had I not been on the phone chatting - and once assembled, it looks simple but beautiful. I love how the wood feels sturdy and is evenly stained with no blemishes, dents, or dings in the wood, and how durable to shelf feels. It is free-standing, so it's not necessary to lean up against the wall, and it comes with straps to attract it to a wall to avoid tippage or the chance of it falling over, which is great for people who live in earthquake country as I do. The color is as rich and pretty as it is in the stock photo and each shelf is durable enough to hold a good number of decor pieces and books. Overall, it's a great shelf to consider if you are looking for a non-boxy-looking shelf to fill a small space.

Beautiful shelf and sturdy

Beautiful and sturdy. Very easy to put together. I did not have help so I used a chair and stacked the foam that came in box for support.

It's not the best, and the sturdiness of it is not the best. Hard to assemble when it should be simple and it's not. It also feel shorter than ones i have seen. I would purchase from else where

I love this

It’s not the sturdiest thing in the world but it is my favorite thing that I have bought in a while for my house I have a corner that it fits in perfectly and actually is my favorite thing to look at. I loved decorating it for fall I loved decorating it for Christmas and I now we’ll get things all through the year for every season and that will be my seasonal corner

Solid

This shelf unit is solid wood. Nothing flimsy about it. You can see the screws that hold it together. If they provided ‘wooden buttons’ to cover the holes I would give it a 5. Cannot go wrong for the money.

Light, good quality, and easy to transport!

I absolutely love this shelf! The wood is a beautiful color (and real wood!). It is sturdy, light, easy to transport/disassemble (I am able to carry the whole thing in two pieces easily), and a beautiful yet simple piece. Definitely a bargain for the price! I rarely write reviews, but I love this shelf so much and I want others to enjoy it as much as I do!

A few small flaws, but overall good

Looks pretty good and was easy to assemble. There are some words spots where the stain is blotchy or uneven, but doesn't really stand out.

Amazing!

This was such a great find. It was cheap for what it was but it does not look or feel cheap at all. I have a lot of books on this thing so it is very sturdy and I even caught my kids attempting to climb it once and it help up. Highly recommend you will not be disappointed. Also it was insanely easy to assemble.
