Fixed Bathtub Faucet Leak
I am writing this review for folks who may have had the same problem as me -- a leaking bathtub faucet...and hopefully it will save them some headache. I took my shower single handle apart to inspect the cartridge for broken O-Rings, etc. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Went to the local plumbing supplier and bought a "Gerber Cartridge 95-154" (the upper half the cartridge ONLY). You'll see this being sold on Amazon as the "Park Supply of America G0095154 Gerber Single Lever Safetemp II-95-154 Cartridge". I was also told to buy the lower half by shop staff (this same type of product, but labeled the 745-5152 "Cartridge Bottom" from Gerber)...but the plumbing shop wanted 50 bucks just for this part. So...I did not purchase it to save money. Replaced the single lever safetemp cartridge ONLY and the leak persisted...it actually got a bit worse. Upon a bit more inspection, my existing "Cartridge bottom" seemed to have a compressed O Ring due to years of use. I was tempted to just replace the O Ring, but I was able to find a match on Amazon for the whole "Cartridge Bottom", this LASCO 0-4027 at a decent price -- ~20 bucks. Replacing the old Gerber "Cartridge Bottom" with the LASCO 0-4027 completely fixed the leaking faucet. I probably should have just tried replacing the black O Ring on the cartridge bottom before doing anything, but I wanted to eliminate any sort of malfunction that might have existed with the bottom or top half of the cartridge Highly recommend using this part if you have a leaking faucet. Just buy both this part and the actual single lever cartridge...don't try to save money. It'll end up taking more time if you piece meal it like I originally did.
