Moen requirement
Needed to replace cartridge on older Moen shower. We weren't able to complete job. A plumber came who hadn't seen this tool, but he had to use it to complete the job!

Made replacing 40 year old tub/shower cartridge easy!
Hat plumbing repairs but this tool made replacing 40 year old tub/shower cartridge easy. I sprayed the cartridge before removing with pb blaster (you have to have a can of this if you do repairs) the day before while waiting for the general to be delivered.... Removed a Moen 1200 cartridge. Highly recommend this for the price. I also bought the Moen cartridge removal tool which I didn't need.

Saved Me a Call to the Plumber
I had a Moen tub faucet that was at least 20 years old and started leaking from under the sleeve. When I pulled the stem out, the sleeve remained and would not budge. Not having encountered this issue before, I turned to the internet for a solution and was presented with a fix that required me to tap the sleeve and insert a bolt. Convinced there was a better, easier way, I eventually came across this product. I figured I would give it a shot before throwing in the towel and calling a plumber, and that was absolutely the right call. Well made and easy to use, the General Tools stem and sleeve remover came through. The night before it arrived I sprayed some CLR into the sleeve to start working on any calcium buildup. Once I had this tool in hand it was as simple as inserting, applying some elbow grease, and pulling the sleeve out. The spring loaded tab was easy to engage and, from unboxing to application, I had the new stem/sleeve in and the water back on in under 20 minutes. I imagine this tool saved me at least a couple hundred dollars in plumbing bills or the time consuming frustration of trying the tap/bolt method. If you have a stuck sleeve or stem, don’t give this tool another thought. Buy it and move on to your next project.

What a great tool!
This tool has saved myself and many customers a lot of work and money! If you ever pull the stem out of a Moen cartridge and cannot remmove the rest of the cartridge because of this, this till will makes it possible and quite easy. Used this many times to remove cartridges that have broken inside the shower valve or faucet

Saved me a lot of work!
This is a wonderful tool! While trying to replace a cartridge in a leaking shower faucet, the plastic cartridge sleeve broke allowing the inner shaft to come out but leaving the sleeve stuck into the valve casing. I was banging my head against the wall because I thought my only option was to cut a hole in the adjacent bedroom wall to replace the entire shower valve, a job that I was dreading. I looked online and saw where others had tapped the sleeve and use a bolt to remove it, with varying success. Since this sleeve was plastic, not brass, I was weary that it may not work and make my problem worse so I kept searching until I ran across this tool. It worked like a charm and removed the sleeve with minimal effort (Although, I had sprayed WD 40 into the valve casing to try and free the sleeve during my earlier efforts and it was allowed to sit for a few days until this tool arrived. Others have reported that, in their case, it took considerable force to remove the sleeve.). This tool feels very well made and quite heavy and sturdy and, even if only used one time, well worth the ~$15 I paid for it. Because of this tool I won't spend my weekend replacing a valve and patching a wall, saving me considerable money, time and effort. I highly recommend!

Adequately well made; cheaper than Moen tool; does the job.
I bought this tool because I thought the stem might pull out of my old cartridge when I tried to remove it. If that had happened, this tool has a spring pin that can lock into the orphaned cartridge and free it. But this tool worked so well to remove the cartridge that I didn't need to use the pin. It also works well to help seat your new cartridge deeply enough into the faucet barrel that the retainer will slide properly back into place. You don't need the Moen cartridge puller, which is much more expensive and does less. And the Danco clone (which I have) is poorly made and did not help me. This tool seems adequately sturdy and handles multiple issues you might encounter when replacing your cartridge. Highly recommended if you are replacing a Moen 1225 faucet cartridge. Should work with other Moen cartridges (such as a shower cartridge) as well, though I have no experience with other uses.

Removed a stuck Moen 1200 sleeve and saved hundreds!
I was able to remove a sleeve from a Moen 1200 cartridge that was stuck and felt like it was almost impossible to remove. I was able to remove the inner stem with pliers, but I was unable to remove the sleeve. I sprayed some silicone spray and left it alone for a couple of days while I was waiting for the tool to arrive from Amazon. I first tried inserting one side of the handle where the notches are located. The sleeve would not budge, and even the brass notches on the sleeve were bending out of shape. I then went on to plan B and inserted the long part of the handle with the black prong into the sleeve. I moved it back and forth until the black prong caught one of the holes inside of the sleeve. Once I felt the click, then I moved the handle clockwise and then counter-clockwise to remove the sleeve. This technique was effortless. Good luck!

Does not fit a Moen 122 cartridge
I should have read more of the reviews. This puller does not fit a Moen 1222 cartridge. It is too small. I was able to get it to work by using a file to make the slot on the end larger to fit the Moen 1222 cartridge, but that has made it weaker. I’ll have to keep it because I did modify it and got it to work. Be aware that it doesn’t work for the Moen 1222 cartridge, unless you modify it.

Didn't fit my kitchen tap
For some reason this item didn't fully work with my kitchen tap... Tried and tried to make it work... No luck... Went to local plumbing store and got one which looked the same and it worked... so something haywire with this one...

Could be better…
When working on a Moen Roman Tub the “t” puller actually gets in the way as you try and turn the collar out of the shaft… would be better if it detached and therefore could be turns without hitting the faucet!

It does the job. However I should have done ...
It does the job. However I should have done more due diligence. There is a tool at HomeDepot, though not an exact replacement, in some way is more versatile (will do PosiTemp cartridges as well) for less money and no shipping cost.
