Wind Sensor issues, rusting parts and bad quality.
I bought this weather station combo with wind sensor, outdoor temp/humidity sensor and precipitation sensor. I had the weather station unit replaced because the one i had shipped 1st, the wifi wasn't connecting to my gateway after about 2 - 4 months of usage. Then recently, noticed that the wind sensor stopped transmitting telemetry, I opened the the battery compartment and found the battery contacts rusted. Which for such an item like this rated for outdoor use should have water resisting parts, non-rusting parts and sealed neatly where the battery is housed. I attempted cleaning the contacts removing some of the rust since not all was possible to remove as the rust had eaten a lot of the metal plate and portions of the springs that make contact with batteries. Replaced the batteries and it seems to indicate it is powered on due to a small blue LED that turns on every 1 minute I think, but yet it's not sending telemetry data to the weather station indoors even tested them inches apart from each other. Did a full reset of the weather station and no joy. Surely a poor engineering oversight with the quality and parts used for thew outdoor units is evident. Upon inspecting as well the Temp/Humidity sensor's battery compartment also seems to be going through the same rusting process on it's battery contacts... I am very disappointed by this product and would never recommend it. Since it's warranty has expired long time ago, no ways to get a refund or ship it back...

Decent Item for whats paid | WiFi Connection Fixed
I bought this unit last fall (around 9 months ago) and outside of the internet WiFi connectivity issue it's been a great experience. Pleasing graphical interface. Hokie plastic hanger (to hang on wall, my preference). Phone app works is the best way I can put it (the basic access is free, $ for the premium app service which for me wasn't needed). The wind sensor is plastic but not sure how long the batteries will last in Arizona heat (I dread to replace as it's on my 2-story roof). The temp/barometer has a nice LED that displays data. WiFi ISSUE: You need to be on a dedicated 2.4G WiFi network connectivity (versus 5g). When you have a dual band Router Modem and both are active problems happen, and more than likely this won't work without an adjustment to these type of Router Modems. WiFi Fix: I use a Unifi network (a little more advanced then your normal home network routing system). The fix is for both the Router/Modem combo or the midrange network setups such as mine. The key fix is disabling the "Band Steering" option. This is where the modem plays smart in switching between the two networks (2.4g/5g) as one roams around the home with their phone, tablet, etc.. (2.4g is good for long range/walls where you can only take advantage of the 5g high speeds when you have line of site). Now for me I have an Access Point that can have 4 separate SSID's that can be dedicated 2.4, 5g or both. Even though I had one SSID dedicated to 2.4g it Still Would Not connect. Once I turned off Band Steering option the weather station connected right up.

Display dark/too big, no wind direction, requires subscription.
PRO 1 Tech support was very good 2 The device was fairly easy to setup (Scale of 1 - 5, maybe 2 or 3) 3 It comes w/ 3 sensors: wind speed, temp/pressure, and a wet water condition sensor CON 1. Does not come with batteries 2 Once you create an account, you are stuck w/ device no way to remove account and have someone else use it 3 There is no wind direction unless you connect to their cloud service (after trial period you will have to pay) 4 The display must be connected via wall-wart requiring 110V 5 The display is just way, way, way too large. 6. Even connect to wall-wart power, the display is dark and you must view it head-on 7. The wet sensor is so-so. I would not count on it. 8. The mount is not suitable for mounting on a pole 9. The forecast feature does not work. I guess again w/o internet connection it has no built-in intelligence the way other units do (in particular our very, very old one). 10. Did we say the display is way too big! (If so than it bares repeating). Biggest disappointment has to be the display view angle, display lack of battery operation, and display size. Probably could live w/o wind-direction, but still. Why do this to customers? Oh yeah, good way to force you to pay their annual subscription fee. As of last report, the jury was out on keep/not-keep. But after living with the dark display, not being able to wall mount in the space, need for wall-wart, need for internet connection, need for a service contract to get all features, we decided not for us. To manufacture, because we like customer support we will say go back to the drawing board. Make display smaller. Make it battery operated (w/ wall wart for some people), make it w/ built in wind direction & forecast, and no long-term subscription requirement and you might have a winner. Oh and use better quality plastic. Good wind storm will break the mount you provided.

Tricky to set up with dual band router
This weather station works well, but is not easy to set up. So most people have 2.4 and 5GHz routers…this unit only can complete the setup using 2.4 band. So in your router setup, give each frequency band its own name. Then on your phone, turn off access to the 5 GHz band to make your phone only be on 2.4 GHZ. Only then can you use the LaCross View app to see the weather station and complete the setup procedures. The instructions say to walk away from the router if both band have the same name, which then sort of makes the phone talk to the unit on 2.4 GHZ….this method does not work. Do as I said, break your router into a 2.4 and 5GHz named networks…..don’t use the same name for both!! I also want to thanks Midco for helping me on this and getting it set up. The app and weather station are running fine now.

Good All Around Weather Station
LaCrosse has so many models that choosing can be difficult. I liked the display on this package better than some of their others so I selected it. I didn’t need the water sensor but it was included and rain sensors are such a nuisance if you have leaves and/or winter since they freeze. The display is bright and the size is easy to read. The LaCrosse View app so far is working well. The instructions didn’t seem to clearly indicate that each sensor including the display had to be scanned individually into each portable device (phone or tablet) so I had to take down the sensors and scan the bar codes into a few phones. The Accuweather updates 4 times daily here in Nova Scotia. My LaCrosse View "account" indicates that it’s a one month trial. I don’t know what happens after that month however. UPDATE The device itself is fine but the streaming features leave a lot to be desired. For example, it indicated that sunrise and sunset were each 10 13 pm, the maximum wind gust never changed from 24.9 mph in over a week, nor did the hours of daylight. Some of the other streaming choices simply would never display. I’m still giving it 5 stars since the streaming doesn’t affect the functionality of the unit. Update….3 months of use and one of the numbers has missing segments requiring you to guess the number.

Very disappointing. Do not buy this product.
Contrary to the product description, this weather station won't allow you to get Accuweather forecasts if you live in Canada. The printed instructions that ship with the product say so. I wasn't able to test this for myself, because the weather station would not connect to my 2.4GHz wifi network. After a lot of "try this, try that" troubleshooting I gave up. So, no internet time and date updates, and no online weather forecasts. The next disappointment was the display, which looks bright and clear when you stand in front of it, but off-axis viewing is terrible. If you sit down in front of the display or walk off to one side, the information is illegible. Next, the water sensor, which ships with this model. The user has to go through a special procedure to "find" the sensor, after which it periodically displays on the main screen. I tested the water sensor and was surprised to find that there is no alarm when water is detected - not even a flashing light on the display. The only indication that your water tank is leaking is that the water sensor output changes from "Dry" to "Wet" on those occasions when it actually appears on the screen. The wind sensor is claimed to have a range of over 400 feet from the main display. I set it up 60 feet from my weather station, and it connected reasonably easily, but it disconnected at least once/day during the week that I had the weather station. On one occasion it eventually reconnected, but usually I had to manually go through the process of searching for the wind sensor and then adding it back. The wind sensor displays only wind speed, not direction. Also, the wind sensor display only updates once a minute or so. If there are gusts during that minute, they never register on the station. It only tells you what the wind was doing last time it updated. And the one-hour "maximum" reading doesn't include gusts - just the highest reading that was sent to the weather station. This "professional" weather station is a toy. Avoid it.

Easy to install and set up
Followed the instructions to hook to WiFi and screwed the battery-powered external sensor to the roof. That's it. It's nice being able to see the actual weather conditions on my phone when I'm away, both indoors and out. We put the leak sensor in the laundry room for peace of mind there. The colour text on black background is much nicer and more modern-looking than a lot of other weather stations.

Good product!
The weather station works great on it's own and the devices connect to the display easily. The app on the other hand is not so easy to set up and connect to wifi. La Crosse support was excellent and helped me to get the app connected. Once set up, the app is very informative and suits my needs.
