Lasted 5 weeks, Amazon sent me a courtesy replacement

The media could not be loaded. Display died after 5 weeks, past the Amazon 30 day return. Warrentee is 1 year, contacted Acurite through their website, they never responded. Amazon sent me a complementary replacement. I love Acurite products, have many of their weather stations around my property. I hope the replacement lasts longer than 5 weeks.

It's very bright but it works fine.

I got a 5-in-1 sensor/display combo a year or so ago and decided I wanted to add a display upstairs. There appears to be a shockingly limited selection available to add to a 5-in-1 sensor, and I wound up with this one. I was very happy it had built-in backup power (I use an UPS with the original; power here can be a bit dodgy), and I was looking forward to the PC connectivity. The display is atrociously bright, and there's no way to turn it down. I wanted it in my bedroom, but it's so bright I can't sleep with it in there, so I put it near the bathroom instead. I have to look away when I go at night; my dark adapted eyes are painfully overwhelmed by this thing on the way to the bathroom. But I am willing to accept that because one of the things I wanted is the PC connectivity. When I get that hooked that up I can use the phone to read it, and maybe I won't care so much how bright it is. Might even hide it. lol Otherwise it seems like it's fine; it agrees with the original graphical 5-in-1 display just like one would expect - given I have only 1 sensor they should be getting the exact same data. It's not really well laid out, information-wise. This one won't show wind chill and apparent temp at the same time, the rainfall panel is clutterly difficult to read, I'm not sure what utility the piles of available alarms are, nor the "weather ticker" that runs along the bottom. I'd be happier to a simple black & white LCD display withn bigger digits and a better layout than all the gimmicky fixed colors panels that consume gobs of space but actually decrease legibility. And I'd be happier with no backlight at all than the ultra-bright searing blue-white it has. But it does what it's suppposed to do ... add a display to a 5-in-1 sensor.

Sent us a previously returned item.

We are a little disappointed as this was purchased as new. However it appears to be a returned item. Box was open. Inner wraps were open. Box had old adhesive on it were a label had been removed and the paperwork on the inside had another customer’s name and info. We will monitor it closely to insure it is not damaged.

AcuWrong not Acurite! Poor accuracy for high temperature readings in afternoon even after 2nd fan/solar panel assy replaced.

Nice system however AcuRite is the wrong name for this unit. It should be AcuWrong because the high temperatures are always too high regardless of the new dual solar panel fan assembly on top. I complained to AcuWrong about this and they sent me a 2nd solar panel unit with fan but I compared both the original and replacement side by side in the sun and they both worked exactly the same. My observations as a Mechanical Engineer show that these units basically have an inadequate fan to pull enough cool air in. The fan is just too weak. On top of this the air plenum this uses around the temperature sensor is built out of ABS type plastic which is solid black in color. This is a near perfect black body which radiates a lot of heat radiation to the sensor and could also contribute to the AcuWrong's elevated readings. I found that at the heat of the day this temperature could be 2-5 deg's too high compared to certified high readings for my area from the internet. Everything else works ok although I did have a problem with the bridge at first until after I sent it in for repair. It now works and everything works as expected except for the temperature being too high in the afternoons as I mentioned above. It is a nice feature to be able to have this online with weather underground. If Acurite can fix this high temperature with these units I think they would have a very nice unit particularly for the price but until then I will be forced to call them AcuWrong. The low temps are spot on. Edit: In regards to the actual color display, I don't really have much to complain about it. It does it's job however the viewing angles are somewhat limited but the fact that font is larger than some of the other displays make this a nice unit to view from up to 8-10 ft. Most of the above comments were in reference to the Acurite 5 in 1 sensor and not the color display..

Just what I wanted

Added this as a second remote to our weather station as I wanted a second receiving unit in my garage/shop where I spend a LOT of time. Works perfectly with my original sending unit. Great job AcuRite. I highly recommend.

Screen visibility sucks

Read the reviews about the screen only visible at a direct angle and thought that was no big deal but after getting it I find it very inconvenient. At the price they should be able to produce a better screen. My old screen bricked and this was the new replacement. Old one was much better.

Display too bright - will keep you up at night

I bought this display to work with my 5 in 1 weather sensor and it was simple to setup. The unit works well and displays many different types of weather measurements. My main beef with this unit is that it is too bright to keep in a bedroom at night. The auto dim feature is useless. It is still much too bright and will keep you from sleeping.

getting cluttered

works well but I find as products change the station displays start to get cluttered and harder to read
