A good substitute for my other La Crosse rain gauge that died. It's accurate... most of the time.
These La Crosse rain gauges clearly have a finite life, so rather than spend twice the price for one that hooks up with my La Crosse weather station, I got this. It's working well, and is about as easy as it comes to set up, but the accuracy suffers the same defect as any other teeter totter gauge. When the first rain hits, it takes about .10 to .15 inches of rain to just get the thing moving. After that, it's quite accurate. So when I got my first 1.65 inches of rain, it showed 1.5 inches. But when I got my next 0.60 inches shortly thereafter, it measured 0.60. There is one feature I would have loved to see, and that's a push button light for the LCD, so I could easily see it in the dark without turning on any lights. But that said, the LCD is very good - easy to see from virtually any angle, which is nice.

Just set up.
Just set this up so I can't judge accuracy just yet. Have owned one in the past though for twhich this is a replacement, so I am confident it will work fine. Precipitation collector bowl much improved from last version I had.

So far so good
No problems getting the items to connect to each other. The only problems I had was the video link on their flyer my computer refuses to open saying it is a corrupt site. Also whoever designed it to put the mounting screws in had not planned on a person using a drill. Not enough room unless you put the screws in at an angle It has a very annoying feature - an alarm when it receives moisture. No alternative to completely turn it off and can only temporarily stop it from beeping. To have it come on again during the night to wake you

Fine when it works
This item replaces another La Crosse rain gauge I had for several years....the previous one worked flawlessly and batteries lasted about 18 months at least...but it was old and showing its age. The new one eats batteries for lunch......I changed them after only 2 months, it worked for awhile, and now we are back to no readings and time for new batteries a month later.......I am done with it. Moving on to another brand. Funny, I have another La Crosse wireless temperature/humidity station that is still humming along after 8 years.....something certainly changed in manufacturing quality since then.

Nice
Very difficult to get the 2 parts to connect signal. Other than that it works well.

Mostly accurate
It appears to be accurate. It does not have readings for previous days like the other LaCrosse gauge I has. But it works well.

Stupid functionality...
This unit's rain 'event' function works in a really stupid way... it's called "Now" and it resets when there's been a rain pause of just 30 minutes. So if you want to see how much it rained last night, and if the rain stopped more than 30 minutes ago it will just say 'zero'. My previous rain gauge, an AcuRite 0899, did that function the right way... it only resets after an 8 hour rain pause. That is much more intuitive functionality. (I don't, however, recommend the AcuRite gauge because the outdoor unit isn't built very well and you'll have to replace it every couple of years.) You can set these things to show the rain that fell in the last 24 hours, but that's not as good as it sounds because that reading will slowly count down as the last event recedes past 24 hours ago which kind of messes with your head. The 24 hour and 7 day readings are useful when you want to query the unit, but the "event" reading is best for everyday use. I think the perfect rain gauge would be built well enough to last, say, 5 years... it would have the AcuRite style "Event" reading... and it would also have a seven day bar graph display...

Nice but didn’t last
Worked great for a long time. Then it just stopped transmitting. Batteries, resetting and setting it back up didn’t work.

GREAT
WORKS GREAT VERY ACCURATE BUT THE INDOOR TEMP DISPLAY IS VERY SMALL AND HARD TO READ FROM A DISTANCE.

Don’t waste your money.
Not only did this product just not work, but the instructions included with it are a generic set not actually designed for this particular unit, and the interface isn’t very user friendly (have to remove the display from the wall to move between readings, and the instructions provide little to no explanation of what the readings actually mean. I would recommend spending a little more money and going with a more user friendly unit. I also emailed the company for trouble shooting about the unit and several weeks later have yet to receive a response.

Easy Setup
The instructions are vague but the device is pretty self-explanatory. No rain yet so I can't say how it will function. No idea why they ask for a rating on sheerness unless it relates to the ability to read the rain station. Easy to read.

seems to get stuck often
I like to know how much rain has fallen, but this model seems to get stuck, even with the wifi signal being strong and batteries OK I cleaned it, made sure no leaves blockin the feeder, but stuck 3 times already. am close to a fir forest, but that should not be a reason Wonder why ?
