Solution for escaping smoke!

Too small to store the Breville smoking gun in, but other than that it works. Yes, smoke does leak out the bottom. Here is the solution: place cloche on top of 1 or 2 silicone mats. They are a bit squishy & if you need to, you can press down a bit on the cloche to produce a tight seal.. I found a pack of 2, 12” diameter mats on Amazon. Make sure you use mats that are SMOOTH on one side at least (most come waffled on both sides). You want a smooth seal. Done and done ☺️

Well sized classy Cloche

Large enough for smoking 2 Old Fashions. Have smoked drinks, and cheese cubes so far. Light, quality glass, so some care needed to not damage it. Looks attractive.

was OK but not as great as I expected.....

It appears to be an effective way of isolating smoke and smoking your food and drinks. That said, every time I have used it, most of the smoke leaks from the bottom of the cloche, so my home is filled with smoke and the fire alarm goes off, but very little smoke is left in the cloche itself. I would recommend that people buy the smoking gun and use it on saran-wrapped dishes, but don't waste your money on the cloche itself, it is not effective.

Adorable but came with defect

Adorable but there was little lump of glass around the rim that didn’t allow it to sit flush with the countertop so all the smoke came pouring out.

Expensive, doesn’t seal well, about as useful as a (free) ziplock bag.

I would love to say this is a quality part for smoking, but well, it’s just not worth $50! It’s made of borosilicate glass, so it’s nice and durable while still being thin, but that’s about the only redeeming quality. As many other people have said, it doesn’t seal well to the surface it’s sitting on, so it lets a lot of smoke out, which might be a problem if you are using it indoors. I returned it because of the cost mainly, as I get the same performance out of a ziplock bag that costs a few Pennies.

Way way way overpriced, and lacks a decent seal at the edge

The valve in the side is nice and stops smoke escaping there, but with no decent seal around the bottom edge, smoke gets out nearly as much as when I use an upturned pyrex jug, using the pouring spout as the spot to put the hose through. And the pyrex jug is sturdier and MUCH cheaper. That said, the best container I've found to help with smoking foods is my le crueset dutch oven. Put the food in it, cover with clingwrap, pierce the clingwrap with a knife, use that as the valve (a bit of extra clingwrap around the pipe nozzle will reduce the amount of smoke that escapes). Once smoked, put the dutch oven lid on, and the whole thing retains smoke and heat. Not as elegant as lifting a cloche at the table, but I'm using this for the flavor, not for the looks.

Came with a defect

Ours came with a defect on the rim of the bottom. There’s a bump on the edge so it doesn’t sit flat on a surface so the smoke goes everywhere. It seems like the smoke still doesn’t stay in the container even without any defects based on the reviews. Don’t recommend it. It’s also pretty small.

Read the reviews before you buy! This DOES NOT seal at all and all the smoke escapes when using. Regretting this purchase.
