Time consuming, but so worth it, and you can create your own pocket stuffers!
First off, I've completed 4 of these for my 4 kids and 8 grandkids. By the time I completed the 4th one, I had cut a lot of time off by doing a few things differently. 1. Gather several embroidery needles - saves a bunch of time to keep one color thread on one needle. I had a strip of heavy paper that I kept the different needles/colored thread stuck onto. Since the very small eye embroidery needle needed to attach beads is difficult to thread, this saves time to not change thread all the time 2. Sew the same sequin color on all items - e.g., all white sequins, all gold sequins, etc. before you start the project. Don't cut items out, just attach sequins and beads to uncut pieces, but I did semi-cut out all Santa items, all train items, all stocking items, etc. and kept them together. 3. Complete as much embroidery as you can ahead of time - again, do all rust embroidery, all gray embroidery etc. if you can 4. As stated by other posters, be sure to get a piece of red felt to attach the pockets onto. I attached each row horizontally by machine (it can be done by hand) and then sewed the 3-strand white embroidery vertical stitch by hand. The first calendar I made I didn't do this and had a heck off a time figuring out a way to stop the items from falling through the bottom since the bottom of the pocket wasn't attached. 5. Three of my kids wanted the dark blue piece attached at the top (like a starry sky) and one wanted the original look. Adding the blue piece gives it a more finished look and it hangs much better. The stiff white piece in the kit will almost cover the entire back if you add a blue piece at the top. I had to cut a small piece and sew on the bottom to cover the entire back 6. I didn't like that the kit came with duplicate pocket pieces. What fun is that? So I made 12 other Christmas pocket pieces. I included pictures of the ones I made. For my 3 granddaughters, I made angels and sewed their names on the bottom. Two grandsons received a round elf piece (green and red) with the corresponding color piece on the back and their name sewn on it. My 3 older grandsons each selected their own personal piece - a penguin, an elf and a snow globe. There can't be a Christmas advent calendar without Santa, a snowman, rudolf, a stocking, a wreath and a snowman, etc. We are a U of M family, so naturally I made a block M teddy bear. I copied ALL those designs from ideas posted on Pinterest. Use your imagination and personalize a few pieces. I also signed and dated the back of the calendar. 7. Other posters have stated this is time consuming, and it is!! I hope that my grandkids will enjoy this for many years to come and it will become part of their Christmas traditions. Good luck!

Labor of love!
Whew, this was a workout for me! I too used a purchased tassel, looked better to me than the thread tassel. Also used leftover felt to make a pocket for the bamboo rod and black felt I had to make a pocket to hold the 24 goodies when not in use. Stitched my grandsons name on the little stockings and although I wasn’t too thrilled with pocket pieces being repeats, I didn’t have the patience like some to make different pieces so I just changed out most of the pieces to a different color. Also used a pretty trim as a hanger. This really was a labor of love but I truly enjoyed the challenge.

Missing items, incorrect colers
I purchased two of these stocking. The shades of Blue are different, blue and gold thread are missing from both kits. Very frustrating. These are meant to be finished for the holidays and I can't get the correct materials sent to me.

It was extremely difficult
This was by far the most difficult stocking I have made and I have done 9 stockings so far. The instructions on the pockets were not clear. The markings on the felt were barely there. I am an experienced in sewing, when I first started out I thought I would make two of these, I barely made it through one of these. The end result was very beautiful, it was so boring doing two of each of the same pocket stuffers, so I ventured out and used some of my mini Bucilla ornaments, altering them to fit. It took me 3 weeks of constant sewing to finish this, I really wanted to quit. My two beautiful grandkids were always in my thoughts as I kept sewing. I also had small embroidered ornaments that could fit in the pockets along with the stuffed ones so the kids would not fight. I did line the pockets, it made them sturdier, they did not gap open. I also put the kids names on the on the small stockings. I used a different hanger, I went to Michaels and purchased a red cording which was much sturdier than using the floss. When I gave it to my daughter in law, she literally cried.

be patient-it's worth it!
It is gorgeous but oh so time consuming. But it's a keep sake for the grandchildren and it's worthy of a keepsake. It shouldn't be your first kit as a lot of work arounds are required.

Turned out gorgeous
I loved this kit. It looks so pretty, the grandkids love it. You do need to cut everything out so make sure you have a sharp set of small scissors to fussy snip the shapes. I made a few changes to the design. It called for black eyes but I made Santa's blue. I did not adhere the items in the toy bag. I finished off the teddy bear with scraps from the kit and so the toys in the toy bag are removable which makes it a little more interactive. I did not make the embroidery tassel to hang off the bottom because they are not durable. I instead adhered three jingle bells. To keep the mantel edges hanging straight and not curling, I added a strip of plastic canvas to the back before I adhered the finishing fabric. The last change I made was with the hanging stockings. I did not make the ones in the kit. I instead made three smaller ones and embroidered the names of my grandkids on them. Tips: 1) pull out several sewing needles so you do not have to keep changing threads 2) to ensure pieces line up right, I first glued them in place then came back and embroidered the edges. This is especially useful to ensure your numbers are straight and lined up even. 3) use a weekly pill box to put your sequins and beads into. You only need to open the compartment of the color you are working with and it helps prevent spilling. It also makes it easy to put the beads on the needle by just scooping the needle into the beads. I think this kit is beginner friendly. Just leave yourself plenty of time if you are not all that confident in your skills. It looks so involved but everything is done a step at a time. The directions are easy to understand with diagrams of required stitches. When finished it looks like a very well done handmade project but that it the goal right?

Always spectacular results
Easy to follow instructions, good quality kit. Best if you have had some experience of simple embroidery and a pair of scissors that are sharp to the tip. You will also needs reels or similar to wind your floss on to and pots to keep the sequins and beads in. Patience is the key, this will take a while. A few additional items are needed- chenille sticks and suitable stuffing material. Like other crafters, I made the pockets more effective by making calico inserts.

Easy but very tedious
Easy enough to put together - the instructions could have a bit more detail though. And I had to buy more cotton floss as there just wasn’t enough included to finish all the steps.

Must Be Santa Advent Calendar Felt Applique Kit
This item looks lovely when finished, really festive and pretty. My complaints are that I ran out of white and green thread and I don't waste it! Also the calendar didn't hang well till I put a piece of dowling across the back at the top for the hanger to attach to. I then put a red felt backing on the whole of the back.
