Water Pools in the Sink

I, like many others thought that installing a low-cost drain into a Kohler sink would be OK. It was not. Most irritating was the pooling left at the bottom of the sink due to the nature of a one size fits all alternative. Having water with moderate hardness, the Kingston Brass KB3005 began to corrode days after installation. I replaced it after a week with a Kohler drain which was a perfect match for my sink and I now have no water pooling. Installation of the Kingston Brass KB3005 was simple. The instructions were poor yet I had no leaks when I added silicone above and below the sinks top gasket and I used Teflon tape on the drains threaded top. I took off a star due to the fact it must be installed from the bottom of the sink. A minor modification would have allowed the securing nut to be removed so that installation was possible from the top. Otherwise, I had to trim the PVC drain line to allow for a bottom install.

Looked nice when new, but the nickel finish did not hold up.

The drain seals well. The instructions were a bit sketchy but I successfully installed the part. Unfortunately, the brushed nickel finish has not held up. In a little over two years the finish has broken down.

Take your time

I, like others, had to seal and re-seal to keep from leaking under the sink. Start with 100% silicone sealer, not plumber's putty. Edges of drain thick, so a small amount of water sits around the edge. Very nice quality

Good product

Good product quality. Easy to install. However, the installation instructions did not specify where to apply the silicon caulk. Unfortunately, my initial installation was unsuccessful (leakage) and required help from customer support, and then a redo.

Perfect Solution

Our new faucets did not come with pull up drains. Since we wear contact lenses my husband was concerned the push pop-up drains would open with only a light touch and we would loose the lenses down the drain. These drains lock into the down position. The finish is very nice. The color is a little lighter than our faucets but they coordinate. The drains are heavy duty and very good quality.

Almost 5 stars

Has a nice satin finish and much better than the old lever type drain stoppers. The only thing I don't like about it is that it closes too easily. If you are cleaning or wiping out the sink and touch the stopper it will fall into the closed position preventing the water from draining.

Delightful

I much prefer this sort of sink stopper. It was amazingly difficult to find this old standyby in my small city. Works just fine. Easy to install. I haven't found it at a cheaper price.
