You get what you pay for.

Heavy duty solid brass strainer drain (brushed nickel) - NO Plastic! Easy install and NO leaks - just plumbers putting under the grid strainer. But come on Kohler - put the correct instructions in the box! Instructions were for K-7124 pop-up drain. No big deal basically the same install and I know what I'm doing. Replaced cheap Kohler Home Depot plastic pop-up drain that constantly clogged and the cheap plastic pop-up assembly with a spring in it was broken. Grid strainer is the way to go if don't need water in sink.

Handsome and Functional

I tried a couple different drain styles before settling on this one. I think it has a handsome decorative look to it and it’s quite functional. Here are some things in particular I like: 1. It’s from Kohler and I’ve used many of their products in other areas of my home. It’s a brand I trust, not some no-name Chinese knock-off. The quality is noticeably better than other drains I tried. Thicker gauge steel on the waste tube etc. 2. Unlike some other grid drain designs, the outer lip has an inward slope so all water is channeled down to the holes and you don’t get standing water puddling up around the edges. 3. The outer rim pulls down tight against the vessel without being raised up by a rubber gasket. This is superior for water drainage and cleanliness. 4. There is little to no splashing up from the faucet. Water hits the drain and goes right in for the most part. 5. The holes are large enough that water does not get stuck on the holes due to surface tension. I noticed this with other grids with smaller holes. All in all, a fantastic product from a trusted brand.

Larger open area gives you faster flow

I decided that if I was going to spend time fixing a bad drain install, I might as well replace the drain. I bought this one based on good reviews that mentioned flow rate, and boy were they correct! The predominant grid-drain design of small circular holes, all directly above the drain pipe opening, creates a bottleneck that slows water flow even if you have no clog. This drain has triangular holes which extend well beyond the diameter of the pipe, and the water exits immediately after I turn off the faucet. I have ordered another for a similar sink which I already fixed using a conventional circular-hole model, just because I want that one to be fast too. Faster = cleaner.

Much better than the old "pop up" drains.

Nice Kohler quality! I never used the pop-up drain stopper in my bathroom sink, and they were always needing to be cleaned out and reinstalled (a big pain to crawl under the sink to do it), as the pull-up knob and mechanism would become clogged down below the drain hole and inside the pipe with hair and other disgusting "goo". Yuck! So I installed this new open in the sink and the the water drains much faster and with no obstructions. The "holes" in the new drain are slotted and larger than regular "old style" round holes, so the water drains much faster out of the sink. I should have done this years ago!

Its Kohler; always excellent quality; really nice

Sturdy; Heavy duty; everything included for installation to a vessel sink; much better than any of the grid drains you will find at a hardware box store (and those cost upwards of +$20); for the price of this Kohler grid drain you will be pleased for great quality and appearance. I have never had a bad experience with Kohler grid drains but because every house has different plumbing exhaust situations, most grid drains form air bubbles just under the grid and make for slow draining, be prepared to add an inexpensive "air burp" plumbing apparatus under the sink and in line with the under sink plumbing (this aids the proper draining of water out of the "P" trap; this add-on is no big deal). The only reason I include the above information about draining is because it will allow you to trust this Kohler grid drain if you notice slow draining. I am super pleased with this purchase!!!

This works great if you hate overflows like me.

I hate overflow valves on sinks because there is no good way to clean them out. If you don't hook the drain up correctly to them, it makes a great place for bacteria to grow. The problem with most sink drains without the overflow is that the drain holes are too small for water to drain quickly. The cheap ones you find at lowe's and home depot work if you drill the holes larger. The problem is they rust once you drill off the protective lacquer. This design allows the water to drain nicely out of the box. It is great to be able to buy these at a discount here, instead of the stupid stores that will only sell them to your plumber, who only jacks up the ridiculous prices. Anyone should be able to install this in 20 minutes. Make sure you buy the flat hex wrench (home depot has them) with the 3 large plumbing hex nut holes. Otherwise it is tough to tighten the nut on this without screwing up the threads.

It’s beautiful BUT

It’s beautiful but it holds water. NEVER dries. If it’s used at night i dry it out and check in the morning and it’s still wet and after a week i noticed a smell and thought the Plumber did something wrong so he just came back out and told me it’s holding water because it’s not a good angle on the drain. Now i have to buy another and get him to come out AGAIN to replace it with something completely different so the smell goes away

Best drain ever !!!

This is exactly what we've needed for 30 years !!! The old pop-up drain plug pull up/push down rods always corroded and then it was useless. We have replaced probably 10 of those over the years. However when we thought about it, we have never actually used the darn thing. It was just there as a part of the sink. So while shopping for a new drain thingy, I noticed this gridded one and wow, was it ever the correct choice !!!! No more slow draining because hair is stuck on the pull-up drain thing, now it just flows away and it looks great too !!! We love it !!!

Looks great, high quality drain

This Koehler drain looks great and has a longer threaded pipe so it fit my 3 inch vanity and stone sink perfectly. Easy to install
