Great idea, but too small for my key.
This lock seemed like a great solution for hiding my car key, but my jeep key was too large to fit. I'm sure it would work great for a house key or even an older/smaller vehicle without the fob though.

Minus one star for its removable-only-if-you-don't-EVER-want-it foam and resultant size limitations
Had hoped to be able to store some miscellaneous small items in here, since it said foam is removable. However, I do not feel the foam can be placed back in once it is removed - it seems glued in and to remove it one must destroy it - so I have not removed the foam and as such my items will not fit in it. However, I did purchase a larger (too large, not hide-able and therefore much much more noticeable and likely to draw unwanted attention) locking case that fits them adequately, and am using this item to hide the keys to that case. For keys, this case is P-E-R-F-E-C-T. Unfortunately, now I must take double steps to access my own items, but hopefully that just means double protection from the kleptomaniac ghost who has recently taken up residence (or so it seems, since everyone denies responsibility for items used or missing altogether). This will work well - unless said ghost is psychic, too - in which case he will find the case and know the combo no matter how clever I try to be. The magnet is much stronger than expected. Normally, these sorts of hide-a-key magnetic holders inspire NO confidence in me that I could rely on a spare car key remaining under my fender - any I have ever seen seemed likely to be jarred loose and lost with the first pothole or speedbump driven over. And heaven forbid someone figures out your car has one, nothing to stop them from yelling "SCORE" and making off with your stuff - or car - without even having lock-picking or hot-wiring skills. Once I again own a vehicle, I intend to purchase another of these to utilize its spare-key-under-the-fender capability, as I am notorious for locking my keys in the car and this one is more secure magnet-wise and deterring-theft-once-discovered-wise. Can it be broken into? Sure, it's not a bank vault. Can someone make off with your key in 30 seconds or less? Nope. More time spent reverse-engineering = more time someone can catch them. Every little bit helps.

Discreet, with the cover on the numbers, no one knows what it is
I have a wall mounted steel mailbox by my front door. where it hangs on my siding it juts out a little leaving just enough space to attach this to the back with the magnet. It’s completely hidden but accessible. It was just what I needed.

Doesn't fit a 2012 Toyota car key. Disppointing design fail.
It does NOT fit a 2012 toyota car key. Which is a pretty basic key....

Upgrade from what I was using
I bought this hide-a-key device to replace the old Altoids candy tin that I had been hiding a key in. This new case is approximately the same size and shape of that old candy tin - so it fits pretty well where I hide it. The plastic case is a step up security-wise from what I was using before, but not by much (which isn't really an issue, the hiding spot is more important than how secure the case is - IMO). This case is secured with a three number combination setting, which you can set (comes set to 000). Setting the new combination is easy - remembering what you set it to is hard (hint on mine - my street address is three numbers.) Once set you can always change it again later. The one complaint I have with this device is how hard the number dials are to rotate, maybe it's just that I fat fingers - but they are a bit tough to get into position. Like I mentioned the case is about the size of a Altoids tin, and when unlocked the end cap on one side pulls out and swings out of position so that you can either insert or remove a key from the interior of the case. The inside is filled with a foam material with a single slot cut into the middle of the foam. I'm guessing is the intent is to keep the key from rattling around in the case, and that would keep people from knowing there is something in there. I find getting the key back out is hard, so what I have done is tied a bit of string to the end of the key and leave that hanging out the foam. Makes for removing the key a whole lot easier. The case has a very strong magnet on one side of it - which I was unaware of when I ordered it (didn't read the product page very closely - just the reviews). The unit also comes with a metal plate that you can attach to a surface and stick the magnet to - which is what I did. Like I said the magnet is very strong so you don't have to worry about it ever falling off. There is also a little metal rod recessed int one corner of the case, which I'm guessing could be used to attach some sort of tether to, to keep the case from walking off on it's own (or with someone). I haven't used it yet, but I'm considering it. All-in-all I'm happy with my purchase - this is definitely an upgrade from what I was using. Yeah, the dials are a bit stiff to rotate, but I'm guessing they will get looser the more I use them. One additional note - the case I received did not have the big GE logo on it like the one in the photo on the product page. Review for - Kidde AccessPoint 001859 Stor-A-Key Locking Key Case

Accidently set unknown combination
Somehow one of the crew accidently changed the combo and now we cannot close it. The reset switch is near the tumbler numbers and I think she accidently moved it when she was getting the key in and out. Needless to say though we have tried many combos none of us can figure out what she accidently set it to so is useless. The reset combo switch shouldn't be able to be accidently done. Not a good design.

Won't open after 2 uses
Set a new code as per the instructions, put 2 keys in it and closed it. Spun the dials around and tried to open it--locked as it should. Set the dials to the new code--opened as it should. Hid the box and used it about 6 months later and it opened as it should. Went to use it today and it wouldn't open, had to destroy it to get it open to get the keys. Buy something better.

The way it's designed it is quite easy for someone to set a new combo lock
Ended up being what I expected. I read a few reviews from people that said they were able to open it once and then not. I wonder if they (like me), made the mistake of playing with it when they first got it without reading the instructions. I rotated the "reset" dial, then moved the combo dials and then rotated "reset" back, and then moved the combo dials again. This reset the unlock code and I didn't pay attention to where I had moved it to. Luckily I only moved one dial off zero so I was able to figure it out set it again. Be careful! The way it's designed it is quite easy for someone to set a new combo lock. Outside of human error however, it is working as I had hoped.

Read instructions before using and you'll be fine
It appears most of the negative reviewers did not read the instructions before using the lock. When setting the new code be sure to hold the reset dial independently so you do not accidentally reset the lock to a random code. A design flaw, perhaps, but easily fixed by reading the instructions first. This lock attaches well to vehicles and feels a little safer than other unlocked key hiders. Overall, I knew what to expect and I am satisfied with my purchase.

Coded Key Holder
It is what we needed, but we had to attach something to the key to keep it from becoming lost in the foam and unable to be pulled out to open he door. There was very little room for the attachment, so it had to be very small. we were pleased that it arrived very quickly!
