Good lockbox but mine turned up without the white plastic key to set it...

As mentioned, the white plastic key to set it was missing so I have to use a screwdriver. Not the biggest deal nor worth returning but made figuring out the way to work it a little harder first time.

Broke after cold weather snap

I loved this lockbox because Chicago gets so cold that many of the dial combo lockboxes freeze, and the dials no longer work. Being a push button lockbox, this one never ran into those issues! However, I agree with other reviewers that the way the lockbox works (where the order of numbers pushed does not matter) does make it slightly less secure. Also, this lockbox eventually cracked about 1 year into use after a particularly bad rain and freeze caused water to get into the plastic components. The whole front button panel snapped off, and our keys fell out and were lost in the snow! We were out of town at the time, and luckily our pet sitter was gracious enough to help us figure out an alternate plan, but it was a giant headache. I contacted KeyGuard and they said they would be happy to replace the box if I mailed them the broken pieces, which was very kind of them. However, I never did this because 1) I never recovered all the pieces, 2) I found petsitters who would keep a key on file to bypass these issues, 3) I didn't think it would be worth the cost of shipping, and 4) I didn't want to deal with another potential broken box, and 5) it was fairly hard to describe how to use this lockbox to new petsitters and I often found the lockbox wasn't securely locked when I returned home. I think the lockbox does what it claims to do, and would still be a good option in more temperate weather. However, I bought this specifically to bypass issues I've experienced with other lockboxes in winter weather, and as such, this lockbox does not fit my personal needs.

Great lock easy to use!

I bought the lock to keep outside for my kids so they can come in after school and not have to keep up with a key. ( they have lost a few). Easy to change the code and setup!!

Bought this to hold my JEEP key and hang it from my hitch. The top hook part is like a padlock and you can open it- which is the main reason I bought it. Many similar products on here do not do that. This lockbox is very heavy duty. My Jeep key BARLEY fit. I have to press the face down and also lock it at the same time to get it to lock. Any key larger or fatter would not work. The dimensions of my key are 3.5" tall and 0.4 inches thick. Remember to enter the combo to open and also enter the combo to close it. Also press the clear(reset) button every time you you open and close it too. I think it will do the job I need it to, just wish it wasn't such a tight fit.

Not super secure, but worth the price

I agree with the other user who said that the order of the digits don't matter. If you press your selected digits in any order, the lock will open. Good this is that if you press any wrong digit, then it won't open until you press the "Clear" button and try again. The box is pretty strong, and the number plate is metal (not plastic as some have mentioned), so it's fairly secure, and won't open unless you press the right keys or smash it with a jack hammer (I haven't tried the second one yet, and I don't think I will). The fact that the order of the digits doesn't matter makes it less secure than I had expected, but it's not a big issue for us because our building is pretty secure in itself. I bought it solely for the purpose of having some keys outside our apartment door. I locked myself out once and I do not want to repeat that incident, and this lock box serves my purpose well.

Minimal security for a minimal price.

If you are using this to secure a low risk area and need to provide access to a small number of trusted people, you're probably fine. It's an inexpensive box and seems a little more sturdy that other reviewers have indicated but it's far less secure than I expected. The locking mechanism is 100% mechanical. Codes with repeated digits are just adding redundancy to the code. I can unlock the box using the digits in my code entered in any sequence. If my code is 123, I can unlock with 123, 132, 213, 231, 312, 321 and they'll all work. The worst problem tho, is that once it's open. ANYONE can rekey it and the hasp can be unlocked by pushing a little lever. So, if you get it open, you get the goodies inside and you can take the box as a bonus. The buttons feel cheap and it's sometimes difficult to tell if they're engaged. I also discovered through trial and error that you have to reenter the code to relock the box. That's a great feature to keep from accidentally shutting it without knowing your code but a little cumbersome in practice. For our uses, it's "good enough" as a short term solution. Cheap was a key selling point and it wasn't intended for long term use or to secure an actual piece of real estate.

KeyGuard SL-500 Punch Button Realtor Lock box

Good box. I don't use it for real estate, but rather to store keys for a classroom so my instructors can get in. The keys I put in there are on a key ring. This makes it a little tough to close the box, so I have to play with the to fit. What I don't like is that, though you can pick the numbers for the push button combination, you can't pick the combination that the numbers must be pressed. Once you decide the numbers to use, you can press them in any combination and the box will open. I also do care for the fact that in order to close the box you need to once again push the numbers in order to get the latch to lock. It held up well over this bad winter and I would recommend it

Good for light use?

It's been hit or miss on it closing? We had to buy it for our rental we're stuck with across the country from us, and knew the former evicted renters were going to tamper with it and they did. (I hope they enjoy the electrical meter, pipes and heaters they stole.) Now it doesn't always close properly so we ended up having to buy a different one. So far the newer one has held up a bit better to their tampering. We'll keep this one for our house, where there is less of a worry about tampering. I would suggest this when there isn't much of a worry about breaking and entering, say... for your kids after school or in a gated community? I liked the push button's better for ease of use with gloves on, but have the rotating style now. The person who set the code said it was pretty easy though and other wise was easy to use.
