A great mispurchase
When I got the bag I was a little Disappointed because I thought I had purchased bedding. Turns out in my search for a rabbit house ???? , I purchased a bunny bathroom toilet ????. So having the litter came in very handy. The was no smell even after my rabbit had used it for a couple of days. Will buy again

Great for Hamsters NOT FOR GUINEA PIGS
We used this for years with both of our hamsters. It makes it really easy to potty train hamsters. It was a bit hard to clean though it stuck to the sides of the litter pan. NOT FOR GUINEA PIGS. I tried this with my Guinea pig and he just ate this litter which is super dangerous because it can clump in their stomach.

Hard to latch and unlatch to the cage…
It’s okay, but on my cage the gaps are smaller, so I have to basically bend the cages wire to take the litter tray in and out of the cage.

You can't potty train older guinea pigs
I was really hoping I could train these guys, it doesn't work when they are older. The product seems great.

It works
I end up using a lot more than expected to keep up with the critters. Might work for someone with maybe one pet and more money to spend on litter, but I’m looking for new options!

Good for clean fur
I got snowball and Blackie in 2007 and they lived for 10 years before they died. At the time I would always buy critter litter. It’s never been my favorite brand, but that’s what the pet store within walking distance of my house sold. And while it didn’t prevent the smell or a disgusting clumping around the edge of the litter box, it never stuck to their fur. Which is a huge plus. No one likes cleaning poop fur. After Snowball and Blackie died I waited a couple of years before I started another family. I got Desi (black tort colored Lionhead) and Trouble (English lop). Now Trouble has a habit of digging all of her litter out and spreading it onto the floor of her cage. And as you can imagine, that’s a very expensive problem. So I had to switch. I found an 18 pound bag of crumbly, soft recycled newspaper that looked like it could pass for cage bedding, but was only litter that was $11 a bag. So that problem was solved. Then Rita (Vienna-marked grey colored Lionhead) came along. She is just so fluffy and adorable! The problem is, she’s not an avid groomer like Desi. So while Desi makes sure that his cushy-litter is never remaining on his fur...... Rita isn’t capable of grooming her butt or the rest of her fur. Her fur matinence is more demanding than an Afghan Hound! Meanwhile Desi just needs a good brushing once a week to get whatever he missed. So I kept thinking “what can I do to make it harder for her to dirty and knot her fur?” And I remembered the critter litter. Now she doesn’t have any remnants on her butt and when she sleeps in her litter box she doesn’t have anything attaching to her either. I use the critter litter exsclusively for Rita.

DO NOT USE - clay based kills rabbits!
DO NOT USE FOR SMALL ANIMALS - this is a clay based litter which is NOT good for small animals (rabbits, hamsters, gerbils etc.) as they have a tendency to nibble the litter and clay based ones block up their intestines etc and cause serious damage. Not to mention that this litter doesn't do its job, it's not absorbent at all and turns to sludge after only a couple of small (cat!) wees. Avoid, it's simply too expensive to be cat litter, and not suitable whatsoever for small animals.

Great for Syrians.
I bought this for my Syrian Hamster when it was on special offer so it worked out really cheap for two large bags. The balls are quite big but my hammie doesn’t seem to be bothered about it but he is quite a big fellow. I used to use potty litter which is virtually what it is. The two sizes in the potty litter (small and large balls) it’s the same size as the larger one. It is small balls of clay like substance and does clump which is a good thing as you can pour the unurinated balls to one side and reuse them. I do have to change it more frequent than the potty litter as it does smell after a day or so plus he starts to use his bath if I don’t change it every day or other day. I would definitely recommend it though. It does work out a heck of a lot cheaper even though it has to be changed more often. Mind you, my hamster does seem to drink quite a bit of water, more than any of the others I have had (I have had him checked but nothing is wrong) hamsters tend not to drink a lot. I will be buying again for my Syrian but not sure if it’s any good for smaller dwarf hamsters.

very good for cats, but my hedgehog might have been eating it
I'd say that it was partial clumping, I put a puppy pad underneath so that absorbed alot of pee moreover than the litter, but I expect it would have absorbed it if it had spread in the base of the pan. slight clay clump of the balls and spooned the affected section out of the litter pan. didn't smell anything. I was recommended to buy this for a hedgehog and the balls were all circular dry balls when putting in the litter pan, but I think she was eating them because the bottom of the pan had alot of broken bits, so I am not going to use again for this application. I did catch her in the night licking them and pushing her hog nose snuffling about and found them around the outside of the pan, also alot of quills in the bottom which makes me think she was rolling about in it. Not suitable for hedgehogs, but I would recommend for cats as they don't behave the same.

Better than previously thought!
Following my previous review I have upped this product to 4 stars as it does now seem to soak the urine and doesn't smell bad so i didn't give it a fair chance. The balls are too big for hamsters but there are smaller pieces and you can break the larger ones down. That's the only reason it didn't get 5 stars. So I would recommend this product.

Good
A little small for our rabbit now she has grown. But it is a nice size in her cage and doesn't take up to much space for her. She doesn't seem to mind that it is a little small and we just change the litter more often for her. Bought two one for in the living room when she is out. They should both be the same size but one is a little bigger which is just right for her. If you have a pet that likes to throw things around I don't think the hooks would stop them. My rabbit takes it off when I am cleaning her cage out maybe she things she is helping as the rest of the time it is left in place.
