Great cat shelf but arrived with defective hardware

So, I ordered this shelf a while ago and ADHD kicked in so here I am half a year later setting it up. Pros: -Easy to follow instructions -Easy to click in the legs, but feels sturdy -Love that there's a non-permanent set-up option as I am a renter -Soft plush cover, cute design -Soft memory foam pad liner Cons -"Hardware" i.e. the hook-and-loop (Velcro) strips were kind of messed up upon arrival. One of them had apparently plaster/wall paint on it (wtf), and the other had been stuck together with the backing in the wrong direction, meaning, no sticky residue on one of the sides of the strips (see pics). I think I may have gotten this open box ("like new" lol) so maybe someone recycled the hook and loops. Whatever... So, given the above con, I didn't want to take the risk using one and a half Velcro strips, especially given that my cats are of the big-boned (chonky) variety. Sooo, I frankensteined the sticky part as much as I could with some heavy duty Velcro command strips I had on hand, as well as double sided glue tape tacky (comes in a roll, $11, also from Amazon). I absolutely covered the back of this thing with Velcro and glue tape and I'm currently weighing it down w some 5lb weights letting it adhere. The good news is it feels very sturdy, and it's laying nice and flush against the wall. We'll see, I'm going to give it 24 hrs before I let one of the chonkers up there, but I'll update this if it stands up well to 17lbs of chaotic cat. UPDATE: Hello! So the shelf has been up for a little over a week now and our thicc boy loves it. My Frankensteined glue tape/Velcro strip mess seems to have done the trick. I definitely recommended this window bed, but I also highly suggest augmenting with additional sticky strips if you're going the non-permanent installation route.

Spoiled Rotten Kitties

Now having a screened-in deck, I needed a way for my cats to enjoy the great views and breezes safely. I found this seat on Amazon and it couldn’t be more perfect! As you can see, it’s sturdy (my two tabbies insisted on sharing…even if they’re more than the weight limit…). It’s also easy to assemble/mount. The fact that I can just throw the cover in the wash and keep both the seat and my cats clean is also a big plus! I made the mistake of only ordering one at first. Silly me! I quickly had to buy another. Of course each cat has to have their own! Would recommend this for any cat - great for biscuit making and belly-up naps.

New favorite spot

Just moved, and the windowsills are too narrow for my cat to sit on and look outside (his favorite activity), so this has been a lifesaver. Adhesive did give out after about a month of use (and my cat is only about ~14lbs at most), but since screwing it in it's been secure without issue. He does have a tendency to get caught on the cover and end up pulling it off when in hyper mode and running/jumping about the place, but otherwise it's perfect.

Great seat but do not remove once installed

This was my cats favorite place to lay and I broke it this morning (I removed the whole seat thinking I could just place back on but it’s not sturdy now). So my crazy calico is very angry today and looking for her seat (so angry I caught her trying to pee on the carpet not her box). The good news is I bought another and it was 40% off as luck had it today. She can lay on this for hours and just watch the birds etc. She really loves it when the window is open. You can wash the pad but just take the pad off not the whole seat. And it’s nice as there is nothing to drill etc so fine for an apartment.

Love it

Absolutely love this product. Typically I don't rewrite reviews, however I figured this one deserved it. It was easy to install. We use screws for our as opposed to the tape due to we do have a larger kitty. She fits perfectly on it as well. The rest of the cats love it too. Even two cats can share it. I would highly recommend this and if you're concerned about the weight of your cat, I can let you know. It holds at least 20 lb.

Cats Love It!

My cats love this. And it keeps them off the couch (some of the time). I installed with the velcro adhesive strips and it's plenty string enough for my two smaller cats (pictured) or my larger cat to lounge on. I did add furniture pads to the plastic arms on the part that touches the wall to avoid making marks and the lift it up a little as my sill is a little slanted.

Very sturdy

We used the drill-in method rather than the adhesive. My cat weighs 17lbs and it holds him!! It’s perfect and nicely designed so it looks good but safety was my #1 and it is safe for my cat

Great for the Price

I got this one specifically because I didn't think a window hammock with suction cups would be sturdy enough for how fast my cat likes to run and jump. I guess I expected something a bit sturdier although this one is fine for what it is. It's entirely plastic and the mat is removable. I installed mine with both the screws and the adhesive, and it's still not quite right. It's like the plastic is a little warped so the bottom brackets don't touch the wall unless my cat is sitting on the hammock portion. That's making it challenging for my cat to use it because she doesn't trust its stability. I'm hoping that will fix itself over time with use because otherwise this is perfect. It's just the plastic that I don't like.

Buena repisa

Creo que cumple su objetivo al permitir colocarla al borde de una ventana, sin embargo con su uso y dado el método que utiliza para colocarlo (velcro, si quieres quitarla y ponerla) se vuelve un poco frágil. Esto porque el pegamento que tiene para adherirlo no sé si se empieza a derretir pero ya van varias veces que el velcro se despega (la tira de velcro como tal de la repisa). Evidentemente los gatos se asustan porque caen con ella, por lo que si van a adquirir este producto, recomiendo que extremen precauciones al realizar la instalación, ya sea con velcro extra, pegamento industrial o cualquier otra cosa que permita que los velcros no se despeguen ya sea de la ventana o repisa. Sin embargo una vez instalada adecuadamente, los gatos son muy felices ahi viendo por la ventana e incluso durmiendo.

Funciona

Pues en cuanto pasaron las 24 hrs de secado le puse catnip y lleve a mi gato y ahora básicamente se la pasa ahí 80% del día tomando sol. Funciona y a mí parecer es mucho mejor que las que son de esas cosas de plástico que con succión se pegan a la ventana, ya que este lo puedes recolocar al comprar más Velcro o simplemente atornillarlo en otro lado. Si lo recomiendo por 600 mxn

Aguanta a mi gato grande.

Idela para gatos grandes o gorditos. Mi gato pesa un poco más de 4 kilos y este producto le viene muy bien. Lo instalé con los velcros incluidos y sin problemas se sostiene en el borde de la ventana. Le encanta recostarte ahí a mi gatito y ver por ventana y dormir al sol.

Comodidad para el chisme

Primeramente mi gato no quería ni estar cerca del asiento, luego de dos días se subía de a poco. A la semana ya estaba echando chisme muy orondo.

It’s great but the instructions are so iffy

The product came quite fast and installing the product seemed easy enough but the instructions were so vague and the photo was so unclear it was hard to determine where you were meant to stick the Velcro, I had to peel and reapply around 2-3 times as the photo was so confusing as well as having to add some adhesive pieces to the legs so they would stay on the wall, so if you were to peel and reapply more than 3 times it won’t stick for sure btw, so just be careful!! But all in all it’s great holds up both my cats and they like looking out the window every morning so it’s super cute!!
