Extremely difficult stocking to create

Beautiful Stocking, but not for beginners

This is my 6th Christmas stocking, so I'm giving some feedback for those that may be just starting out. Supplied with the kit is a floss organizer. Throw it away!! Buy spools, either paper or plastic, that are made for wrapping floss around them, then label them with the floss color. You'll thank me later!! If you don't have one, buy a box to keep them organized in. I separate the floss and wrap individual sections (they come in bundles of 6 strands) around the spool, then unwind and remove the floss strands I need and re-wind the leftover for next time (unless you are doing a large section of the same color and will need more of the same). Before you even start, use blue painters tape or masking tape and tape around the edges of the fabric to prevent fraying. The provided needle for the beads won't work, the eye opening is too large to allow the bead to pass through. Purchase a beading needle if you don't already have one. I'm a seamstress and have all sizes of hand sewing needles and none of them worked, so glad I already had a pack of beading needles. As you finish a section, highlight the pattern so you can keep track of what you've already finished. At the bottom heal area, add your initials and the date for posterity sake. This makes a nice memory down the road. I like to use a white cotton fabric to cover the back of the stitched area before I sew the back on. This will prevent any threads from getting pulled during use (if you use this as a functioning Christmas stocking). I also buy pretty fabric from JoAnn's for the back instead of the provided felt, but that is totally your call.

Got What I Paid For

The pattern is fine but the thread is a big challenge. It is not quality thread and continually knots. I tried purchasing the corresponding DMC colors the pattern indicated but they don't match. Trudging my way through it since it is a gift.

Adorable stocking, wonderful kit

I read some reviews, I think the kit must have been revamped, because I have no complaints. There was no needle provided, which is just fine by me. There seems to be ample thread for the kit, and yes of course separating thread is a pain in the neck, but when isn’t it? So far, the stocking is coming along very nicely. The pattern is easy to read (again, they must have revamped this kit). I do not recommend this for beginners. I’m probably intermediate level with cross-stitching, and it’s pretty easy so far, but it is a lot for someone who is just starting out. I will post a picture of this adorable stocking, once I finish it. I am very happy with the kit, and will purchase another once I am down with this one.

Beautiful end results. Ran out of 5 thread colors. I had enough from past projects to complete it.

This is beautiful. The only diwn side was running short on 5 different colors of thread. Luckily I had the colors from other projects.

Nice pattern

I wish the embroidery cloth was not the pale blue. Some of the stitches don’t show up well. The size is great - matches all my other stockings. There was a stitch I had never done before: turkey stitch. Not difficult once I googled it.

Turned out cute, some of the grid was difficult but not real bad.
