First pair worked fine...second pair came from an alternate universe
I ordered one pair (shipped/sold by amazon) back in June 2017 and they were pretty much what I expected and are working just fine. The second pair I ordered a month later (also shipped/sold by amazon) was a complete piece of junk. The thickness of the metal on both the ball plate and the catch plate dropped significantly (half?), making both as easy to bend as a paperboard cereal box. I wish I were exaggerating. And the ball threading was equally flimsy, to the point where the ball component moved freely without rotating through the threaded section (instead of requiring rotation through the threading). If this is Schalge cheapening their product, then I've posted this in the right place. If this is amazon's fault because they sent me a knockoff, then apologies to Schlage and I should have posted under "Seller" feedback. But I can't easily know which is correct, so this is where I landed. For what it's worth, amazon let me return the pair even though my refund/return period had expired, so at least they're trying to make it right.

Strike plate not aligned
I may have just gotten a defect, but I was fairly disappointed in the quality of the workmanship. The strike plate holes were skewed and off center, causing the alignment with the ball catch not to be symmetrical. While it probably would still function as promised, since I am replacing an existing ball catch, I cannot install it without it being noticably off-kilter.

Saved the day and the door!
What do you do when your carpenter places a doorknob where the latch won't fit? 1) Curse yourself for thinking, "aw, let's give the young guy some experience and pretty pictures for his website". 2) Remind him that it's a one-of-a-kind door and cannot be replaces 3) Watch as the cogs turn and he tries to figure out how to fix his mistake. 4) Order an Adjustable Ball Catch from Amazon! 5) Install it easily by yourself 6) Wonder how much you're going to pay him in the end.

Good quality product arrived as promised.
Quality product arrived as promised. Well made with easy adjustments for both ball tension and height. No instructions but adjustments are easy to figure out. Worked great to replace old hammer in style ball catch that never worked correctly.

Perfect!
The remaining ball catch on our dual-door laundry closet broke. The other had broken long ago. So I ordered two of these and they are fantastic! Both fit into the existing holes perfectly and adjustment was super easy. Now both doors open easily and close securely. Absolutely satisfied and strongly recommend if you need a replacement that will fit and work just right.

Used on the Gates of Hell.
I was a little unsure of what the quality was going to be and was pleasantly surprised. Used it on a sauna door and so far it's working well and appears to be of decent quality with no glaring cheapness. Just takes a gentle push to open and close and doesn't seem to hang up or fail to latch.

Ball door latch
Easy to install. A little tricky to adjust for a beginner like me, but worked out in the end. Great fix for sticky door knobs that refuse to latch. I used the same doorknobs, just removed the latching piece and it works great.

Good coloring for those of us that like ORB, installed well and feels solid
It's nice that these came with the stop/plate in addition to the ball. Not all of them do. I feel like the ones that do always last longer. No complaints here. A little more expensive than others, but you pay for what you get here and you don't want to cheap out on door hardware.
