Works great!!
I gave this a 4 Star rating only because the first shipment arrived with a damaged timer. But that was not Amazon's fault. It appeared to be that way from the factory since the packaging was completely intact and the item did not look to be something that was returned by some previous customer. Product review Super simple and easy to setup uses. Uses all standard plugs which makes it very easy to hookup. I had to mount it outside on a brick wall so other than my cordless drill, a masonry drill bit and concrete anchor screw, it was a cinch. It only has a single mounting hook on the back top which makes it a bit wobbly on the wall so Intermatic should really design it with two mounting points. There is a lower mounting point as well but it's blocked partially so it's just not a good design. However, that's a minor detail as the unit performs as stated. As far as all the low ratings due to "melted plugs" I have not had that and it makes me wonder if those seeing that did not heed the current/power rating for the unit. The unit can only handle 15A max at full motor load (when running a pool or fountain pump). If your pump draws more than 15A during normal steady-state operation, then you CAN'T use this particular timer switch. If you don't understand what I'm saying, then you should call an electrician to do a proper hookup. Packaging/Customer Service - Amazon is AWESOME!!! As I stated in the beginning, the first unit came damaged. I immediately when online, filled out the return form for a replacement and sent back the old unit (did a UPS drop off at the UPS store in town). It was amazing in that I got the replacement unit less than 24Hrs later!!! Now I realize that Amazon can do that kind of turn-around if you happen to be close to one of their distribution centers, but it was so easy to return and get the replacement that Amazon has my full appreciation.

Otherwise this timer is great for the price paid
It is exactly what I expected. It does it's job well. I protected it from wind and rain because I live in Florida. I have only one objection to it's design- the manual on/off switch should be upgraded to a more substantial style. This button failed on the last timer when it became stripped. Otherwise this timer is great for the price paid

Intermatic out door plug in timer & wall switch timer
This timer works great. I use from Spring to winter to control an outdoor fountain. Then in Dec thru mid Jan I use it to control outside holiday decorations. Sometimes I also use in Fall for holloween decoration lighting. I replaced the same model after about 16 yrs of daily use when I began to have difficulty with the on off feature but after 16 plus years of constant usage I am more then satisfied. Nothing last forever. I was happy to find this item on line because I could no longer find it in any home improvement or hardware store. You know how that goes, if the area service rep thinks it does not move they take it off the shelf.. I had the same problem finding Intermatic timer that wire into switch box because the big home improvement stores also stopped stocking it and told me it was not available. Found the product to be readily available on line and bought several so I will have on hand when needed.

Cheaply made
I bought this product so I could trust that it would turn mybpool pump on and off during the day. It worked well while I was ok vaca. But within a week after getting back...I noticed it wasn't keeping time correctly as it lagged behind. I had to keep going out to the pump to manually turn it on and reset the clock on it. The time keeping mechanism stopped working altogether. I will purchase a much better product for next pool season. For now, I will march my butt out to the pool to manually turn the pump on and off. Very dissatisfied with this product!

Makes pool maintenance easy! Set it and forget it
Used to turn above ground pool pump on/off and run for 6-8 hrs/day depending on use. As a result, our water is crystal clear all the time. Replaced a cheaper model that burned out after about 5 yrs of use. My neighbor relies on turning the pump on/off manually and is constantly trying to recover their water as a result. If you miss a day or it rains for a couple of days, your water will turn green without running the pump to distribute the chlorine. Makes pool maintenance easy! Set it and forget it. Been doing it this way for over 13 years and never have any water issues.

On function Doesn't Work
I intended to use this for a fountain pump. It will shut the fountain off at the intended time but will not turn it back on. It gets stuck at the "On" time position and will not advance and turn the pump on. Unfortunately, I missed my return window due to weather delaying my spring start-up. If you buy this, keep the box and make sure it works as soon as you get it.

Timer works great controlling the pump for a swimming pool. Timer has a clear cover that keeps the workings of the timer not exposed to the elements.

Fire hazard!
I purchased this pool timer from Amazon less than two months ago. I had a Hayward pool pump that met the timer specifications connected to it. The timer failed today at about six weeks of operation. I opened the enclosure after the failure to discover that the wiring had melted down as per the attached picture. I am grateful that the wiring was enclosed and it didn’t set fire to any nearby combustibles. This hazardous situation is dangerous and completely unacceptable. I am hoping that someone from either the manufacturer or Amazon follows up with me concerning this review.
