Least expensive and functional
I bought this to replace a Braun 3 speed with a squeaky motor that was $400 to replace. For the price of this, it was an easy replacement. My only problem with it is the fan is either super low or super high. Wish there was a middle toggle. Low barely does anything, high is too loud.

Great vent with some great engineering
The media could not be loaded. This is to upgrade our cooktop from a JennAir downdraft. Broan did a nice job of making this hood vent easy to install. They have “hooks” on the sides that allow you to install it and let it stay in place while you install the screws. I removed the fan since I will be connecting it to a ductwork with a fan located remotely. The blocks of wood that are clamped in the pics are being glued to allow me to attach the hood with the screws Broan provided. Hardest part was measuring the cabinet and cutting the hole squarely. The unit is light so pretty much any cabinet can support it. Well done Broan! Coupled this with a 6” inline fan that I mounted in the crawl space. What you are hearing in the video is 400 CFM flowing through the hood. PS. That’s a lot of air!

Very good insert at this price level and dimensions.
Broan recommended this model to replace my existing PM-25 that was twenty years old. This insert is much improved over the previous model however, there were a few drawbacks for my application. Being an insert versus a surface mount required fabricating and installing a 2.5" extension under the hood to avoid major duct alteration. Second, unlike the previous model that easily accepted a 7" duct, this one has three flanges extending that require a lot of force to insert the duct then taping to seal and keep it in place. That trigged needing to take off the front panel of the custom wood which was nailed, sealed, and painted when newly installed and requires a lot of work to touch up now. That could have been avoided if it had the same collar as the previous model. Last, this model's LED lights are a soft white which does not match our undercabinet lighting. Minor, but it would be nice to have adjustable light settings and a little brighter. Overall a very good item that will provide years of reliable service.

Works for my application
The media could not be loaded. This unit via not expensive and it was recommended as a direct fit for my range hood cabinet from Fabuwood. It did require me to get creative and use automotive metal speed clips on the hood liner that came with my range hood, and of course I had to cut hole in my cabinet. The part Recomended a 7” diameter exhaust duct but I reduced it to 6” with an adapter from hardware store. When you turn fan on high it is a little noisy so I use the low setting unless we are doing heavy cooking/baking. Suction is okay. I tested by opening a napkin and placed it underneath and it held it up against filter

May not be adequate.
It is not a very big unit. I thought it would be larger. The liner that is used in conjunction with this actually fills a good portion of the Chimney cabinet with a much smaller rectangle for this to fit into. The CFM is less then 400CFM. I tried to use the Char broiler on my wolf stove with this vent on the highest setting and it still set off my smoke alarm. It's not a 2K Vent-A-Hood, so I guess I should not have expected it to perform like one.

Perfect solution!
Awesome. I am very happy with this vent hood. The led lights are very bright without being harsh. The vent does a good job pulling air and smoke up. (Thanks Hubby) My stove is a 30" gas cook top. We replaced the huge dinosaur microwave that was over the stove with this vent hood and it is the perfect solution. Next we are going to remove the cabinet doors and build a wood hood that goes all the way up to the ceiling and then paint it to match the island color. Only con is it is a bit loud on the high setting. But It's no big deal. The low setting works great too and is pretty quiet. Very pleased with this product.

Waiting on replacement part
We were quite pleased with the ease of installation, ordered the stainless steel liner too (definately needed). However unit only ran a few minutes before having a problem with the switch for the light. Unit had a defective switch for the light, fan switch was fine. Light would not shut off. My husband got on phone with Broan who said switch needed was out of stock, so would be a while to get it. That was last week so still waiting to receive replacement switch. Rep said we could return whole unit but this would be a big job since all installed with liner,electrical & exhaust piping. We have had Broan bath, kitchen & other products for years since have built 3 houses in 45 years & this is first problem we have had with a defective product. I would like to give it a higher rating, but not sure if quality is as good as years past. Switch is cheaply made according to my husband. Will wait to see how customer service takes care of problem.

So we bought this fan insert as we had our kitchen renovated and we needed to purchase an insert for our wooden rangehood. It works well and the light in it is great, it really lights up the top of the stove. It's a great fan other than it is noisy and we didn't think it would be quite so noisy. I can't comment on the installation as it was installed by the kitchen company that did our reno. I would say overall, it's a great fan other than it's noisy

Warm bright light - not too noisy - efficient - small footprint - Great!
Even at the lowest speed it efficiently brings the fumes outside without being too noisy. At the highest speed you can still speak but you need to be a bit louder. I really appreciate the LED light which is very bright but warm and easy on the eyes. Strong plus. Installation was not too bad except for the electrical box which confused and frustrated me a bit. Apart from that so far I am very pleased with this unit.

Appareil débalancé à la première utilisation
À la première utilisation le ventilateur à la 2e et 3e vitesse émet une vibration et un cognement tel qu'il n'est possible de l'utiliser qu'à la première vitesse. C'est comme si la cage à l'intérieur était totalement débalancé. Je ne recommande aucunement ce produit, il y a certainement moyen de trouver vraiment mieux! Très déçu et vais probablement le changer au cours de la prochaine année pour un modèle qui fonctionne normalement.

Poor Boan Nutone customer service!
It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to connect with Broan Customer Service - to ask the simple question of 'what kind of non-duct recirculation kit fits the Broan Nutone PM300SS range hood? For the poor customer service, I have rated the product only 1-star and will likely return.

DO NOT BUY
So ordered this range hood for mini kitchen Reno. It may work fantastic don’t know. May never know. We need parts to install and apparently cannot get parts for this unit. Very very frustrated. DO NOT BUY!!!!!
