Low profile and looks nice

Sometimes wish I would have gone with a nicer model as this has its quirks. The low fan setting isn’t powerful enough to open the dampers so I first have to turn it to high, listen to hear that the dampers have opened, then turn it to low. The high setting is SO loud that it’s impossible to hear anyone over it even if you’re standing right next to them. Another thing I hadn’t foreseen was that with this being such a shallow unit it really only covers the back two burners so when I have kinda burnt something in a pot on the front burner I had to put the fan on high and move the pan to the back burner so that the suction would really pull the fumes up and out. This might work better if it was inset into a dropper cabinet or custom frame where it could be further out over the stove but I also didn’t want something I was going to hit my head on or have to duck under like the giant microwave unit that was there previously. Also you have to destroy the bottom of your cabinet to install this so be sure you are committed prior to installation. I suppose one could always put a new bottom in the cabinet if they didn’t like this but that’s far more work than what’s it worth.

Wrong product

I ordered this product for a last minute home I am trying to close on in a week. Instead of the built in range hood I was buying, I was sent an under cabinet range hood that cannot be built into a cabinet as all of the controls are on the top. Also I would like to include that the range I was sent is missing more than half of its components. Even if I wanted to use it, I couldn’t. It’s useless. Horrible mistake, don’t trust this, order from a certified broan carrier. I’d be willing to take down my bad review if someone would contact me regarding this issue. There is no number to call or person to contact for this order. I spent $450 for my only option to be drive all the way to ups and return this item on my dime.

On low, very quiet. On high, not so much. But I love it compared to what I had! And the LED lights are amazing!!! I recommend.

Good For Small to Medium Sized Kitchens

This Range Hood Vent insert is great for a custom cabinet mounted low profile look. It is rated at 300CFM's and will serve a small to medium sized kitchen nicely with the range or cooktop being from 24" to 30" below it. A 700CFM or greater is needed for larger hoods with large canopies and greater distances from the cooktop to the vent fan. This 2 fan speed version is basic but capable. You will need a cutout in your cabinet that measures 28" wide x 10-1/4" deep. The housing is almost 3" tall and will need to connect to a 7" duct. There is an optional recirculation kit available if you don't have ducting to the exterior. Somewhat noisy but better than average for similar vent hoods. 4 stars for quality and value.

Great looking heavy-duty SS range hood that will make your kitchen 100x better!

We are slowly rebuilding and renovating our old kitchen and are planning to replace all kitchen cabinets soon, so I was thinking how to better utilize space above our cooking range. At first, I was thinking of putting a stainless steel "designer" range hood with a whole exhaust pipe going up the wall but then I saw this "concealed" range hood and thought that this looked like a great idea. The problem with "designer" hood is that you are giving away this whole estate above your range that you could use for cabinets. And with this "concealed" hood you can have the best of both worlds - a "designer" hood and cabinets. And this hood is very compact and slim and takes up very little cabinet space. To be clear, I have not yet installed it, I'm still working on my cabinets installation. I only took it out of the packaging and inspected it. It was very well packed and looked great. It is a bit smaller than I thought but that's okay, it will fit nicely. On the back there is a large exhaust fan, and I will be venting it outside because I already have a duct for it going up through the roof, so I don't need to order a kit (~$110) to do a non-ducted installation. So, if you plan to do a non-ducted installation, don't forget to grab that kit along with the hood. So far, I'm very happy with what I see and excited to install it in our new kitchen. Note of advice - if you plan to install it in an existing cabinet then measure the space above the fan to have enough room to connect to your existing duct or for a non-ducted kit so that it does not interfere with any hardware. If you like the way it looks and have the room, this is a range hood for you. Other thoughts. I have briefly connected the range hood to a power source to test its functions. The fan noise is very low at both speeds, I'm impressed, my current hood runs so much louder. The integrated LED lights are excellent, not too bright and not too dim. Overall build quality is excellent, but I did not expect less from such a reputable manufacturer as Broan Nu-Tone. Included instructions are easy to follow so I don't expect any issues when it comes to installation. *** TL;DR *** Yes, I highly recommend this range hood as a replacement for your old one or for upgrading your kitchen appearance. It is well built by a reputable manufacturer and looks great! 10/10. +++ Pros +++ 1) "Concealed" hood for more space. 2) Stainless steel heavy-duty construction. 3) Integrated LED lights. 4) Very quiet fan even at high speed. 5) Easy to install (I hope). 6) Can be installed in duct-less configuration. --- Cons --- 1) Duct-less is expensive, but I have duct anyway. 2) Included screws seem too short, will use my own.

I had to purchase a power cord kit. Works extremely well and likely will last nearly forever.

The wiring in my humble abode isn't exactly the best. At first upon installation and looking it was decided to turn back and get a power adapter kit [HCK44]. It appears as durable save for the potential of the fan becoming damaged, depending on the amount of heat and the potential to crack, so it would be nice if there were availability on replacements, as it doesn't seem to be as big of an issue. It would have been preferable if the blades were made of something more durable. It's easy enough to turn the fan on when necessary and save from the headache of smoke and fire alarms. One thing to keep in mind if installing this in an older home or unit is exhaust. This unit became a project in that at first there was more spreading the smoke around than having it leave through to the outside or filtered, but still helpful. Overall, I'm happy with it and it did lend me to know the wiring needs to be seriously updated. It will certainly add value to my home once I choose to sell it.
