Dries quickly and is smooth
I bought off brand ink after purchasing this one and let me tell you, do not skimp on quality if you are hand lettering. The cheap ink is really runny and blots your paper up. This is smooth and just the right amount of thickness to cling to your pens and write appropriately The calligraphy community is a science! These guys got it down!

Great choice for pros who like sepia ink!
For many years, Pelican sepia ink was a staple of my career as a humorous illustrator. When the Pelican began to be hard to find, I took a chance with Winsor & Newton’s sepia calligraphy ink. I found I preferred it, if only because it is significantly more waterproof when dry, allowing me to paint watercolors over it with abandon. When I ran out recently, I went to buy a replacement at my local Blick store, where I learned it was only available online. I figured that I might as well see if Amazon had it. It did, and, as a Prime member, I had a couple of bottles delivered the next day. Can’t beat that for service!

Good, vibrant ink
These inks look great, very vibrant and strong colors. The white is very opaque, which is what I wanted.

Good ink
Ordered this with a ream of paper and was surprised to see it came in a tiny box as-is. Considering there is no seal, I'm really glad the cap didn't open and spill the ink (coz it was not upright in the packaging box). Tested the ink today which is a nice violet colour. It says it's made in France. Good amount of ink for the price!

Love It!!!
First of all DO NOT PUT IN A FOUNTAIN PEN!!!! it will clog your fountain pen, although it says it's for fountain pen on the bottle, it will destroy your fountain pen...(I don't know why Winsor & Newton is selling this for fountain pens???) with that being said, this is an excellent for dip pens, I use this to draw with, there is some sort of "shellac" of sorts in this ink, but it is water soluble. It will leave a coating of ink on your nib if you've been writing/drawing with it for a time, which easily dissolves if you dip it in water and wipe it off of the nib. You can use a wet with water paintbrush over your drawing lines to get a light wash which can vary the color of this ink into a light yellow, makes for a nice light hue. I like the range of color this ink gives, if you lay down a heavy line, it will be dark brownish, with fine lines it becomes more yellow. I did not have any bleed through in the sketchbook I was using it in (Daler & Rowney pocket sketchbook) Once I finish this bottle of Yellow Ocher W&N ink I will certainly buy another. Love It!

This quickly became my FAVOURITE ink!
I like to do Inktober every year and I bought this ink specifically for that. The previous year I had just used a basic India ink by Daler Rowney and while it did the job, it was a little tough to work with. Using this ink by Windsor & Newton was like night and day in comparison, it's amazing to work with and the Blue Black color is gorgeous! It adds so much depth and interest into your work. I never used it with a dip pen so I can't speak on that but it works brilliantly with a paintbrush. I created 31 pieces with it last year and still have over half a bottle so it will definitely last a long time. I would and definitely will be buying this again! Xx
