Worked Fair

The scoring tool worked but did not really help in wall paper removal. Found that it is easier to remove vinyl outer layer then slightly wet backing with a wet rag. After allowing the slightly wet backing to dry for about 10 minutes it can be peeled from the wall.

Hyde Tools 33210 Wallpaper Scoring Tool DID WHAT IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO!

Any of you who read my reviews know I moved into a nice building but my condo had not seen updates in years. Well I am updating my bathroom which demands I remove this painfully ugly cinnamon brown wallpaper complete with ugly pattern vintage circa 1985. I thought about steaming the wallpaper off since that is usually the best solution by my paranoid great big brother thinks the poor disabled AUTISTIC WEREWOLF might hurt itself. He does not know I brought the wallpaper steamer already and will be using it soon enough. Nothing stops me and my brother knows that. I'm the older brother. Anyways this Hyde Tools 33210 Wallpaper Scoring Tool is supposed to put little tiny holes in existing wallpaper so a ultra hot water and fabric softener in solution will soak into the wallpaper weakening the paste to drywall bond. Well straight out of the box I put this solution of to the test and it passed. With minimal effort using this Hyde 33210 Wallpaper Scoring Tool and scoring bathroom wallpaper like a champion. There are times when products just work as advertised doing exactly what is intended. If I have something fascinating to say about a product I share it gladly. In this case all I can say is the Hyde 33210 Wallpaper Scoring Tool works as advertised so if you have walls that need scoring for wallpaper removal this item works. Five stars well earned.

Broke on the first day

Really only needed it for one job but it broke fairly easily and quickly. One of the blade spindles snapped off halfway through the job. In a pinch this product is alright and it will work but honestly just pass on this one and get something else, especially if you intend to use it again down the line.

Poor Design, Poor Quality, Not Worth Your Time or Money;

This scoring tool was working well and I was not applying excessive pressure, as if you do you score the finish wall beneath the paper, and after a couple of hours of use it broke. You will see in the photo that the "axle" of the wheel is plastic about 3/16" in diameter. It needs to be sturdier. The Hyde name usually means a good product, but not this one. I suggest you purchase a different paper scorer.

Worked Perfectly

After scoring the wallpaper with this handy tool, I was able to wet the wallpaper and take it down with ease!

Be gentle using it so as not to damage the wall board beneath the paper..

Removing wall paper is a difficult and unrewarding affair. Anything that helps is welcomed and the Hyde Scoring tool was a great help.

This device can damage your wall.

I have now bought 4 of these, 1 from Amazon, 3 others elsewhere. All four had the wheels break off. If you continue to use the device with a broken wheel it will damage the wall, but you don't see the damage until the wallpaper is removed. So, if the wheel breaks just throw it away. Why did I buy 4 if they kept breaking? Because I couldn't find anything else to do the job.

Works well on paper wallpapers

The tool is beneficial for taking off paper based wallpaper and cloth based wallpaper. I do have to say that you need to score more often on a cloth based wallpaper, but it works wonderfully. I scored the wallpaper and then proceeded to use the detergent for making the glue tacky. Left the cloth wet for 30 mins, and its fell right of the wall. Be gentle with the tool, it does tend to make small holes, if used aggressively

Poor value

The tool seems very cheaply made, it’s not sharp so you have to use too much pressure to penetrate the wallpaper, but using that much pressure damages the drywall behind the wall paper. Would not recommend this tool for the price.

It broke 5 minutes after useing it ..Can you please replace it for me ?

Yes it was used and the wheel with the spikes came off one side. It fell on the floor with the then removed wallpaper and it was tossed out ..It was sharp and dangerous and I didn't want anyone getting injured from its spikes..Can you please replace this or send me something to remove my wallpaper scorer with something that is much better..Thank you Elizabeth Curotte
