Love Look, BUT...

Likes: size, stainless steel. Brushed metal surface. Dislikes: no screws, brittle plastic interior parts. My door jam is narrow, so had limited selection to pick from. Also wanted a simple, modern style. This one fit that. But be aware, it doesn't come with the screws to attach to house. Which are very skinny, but longish. I had to use the old, rusted ones, which detracts from the appearance. The working part that connects to wires twists off the outside cover - it's made of brittle, clear plastic. It's also deeper than the cover, so requires a recess in the door jamb to mount it. While working to get it connected to the short, stiff wires and into the recess I had to chisel out, a small plastic tab broke off inside. I did get it installed and it works, but what should have taken 15 minutes, took an hour!

Nice Looking, But Poorly Designed

I first want to say that I'm very handy. I was expecting the Installation of this doorbell to be a breeze. But instead, it was anything but, I t started when I dropped the doorbell and the button came dislodged from the body. It was only a drop of three feet onto soft ground. Then, when reassembling the button, the tiny little light bulb that illuminates the doorbell button fell out. If I wasn't so patient and curious about assembling things there's no way I c/would have figured out how the light bulb needed to be reinsert. As it was it took me three attempts. The designer of this doorbell must have been an first-year engineering graduate, and her/his supervisor must have been delinquent. So sad.

Inferior design

This button fell apart during installation. Button and wire connector part would not re attach and the entire assembly fell apart. i returned it.

Not a true surface mount

Not surface mount at all, not recessed either but it definitely need a hole (5/8") on the door frame to insert the back side of the button (deeper of 1/4 inch at least). We are in the case where only wires get out of the frame through a tiny hole, so we needed something that was an actual surface mount... Quite disappointed by the item description and the additional work (tricky as we have to drill around the wires, lol) that neds to be done, the 1 minute fix is turning into a headache! Will upgrade stars grade when (or if?) we can make this work properly. (Item looks nice otherwise)

side view of product not shown

I would like to buy this product, but I need to see it's side view. Well, Amazon does not provide that. I do not want to drill a hole through the metal with the two wires in there to accommodate the back of the product. I bought a similar one from a retail store & does not match my old flat on the surface mount push button. My rating is not for functionality of the product, but for presentation instead.

Good looking but Not a True Surface Mount

Much better looking than I expected. Very good quality but it is not a true a true surface mount because the inside mechanism extends a little beyond the casing. This meant that I had to drill a larger hole into my new clapboard than I originally made just to let the wiring out, thus making the whole installation more exposed to rain or snow than I hoped for.

Like the look but didn’t hold up to the weather

After being installed only a month, and I installed two of these, the lights gave out in both one week after the other. I would not recommend these for outdoor use.

Difficult to install

Bell works, but contact screws were too small to hold the bell wire. My work-around was to splice in smaller gauge wires. Works satisfactorily

Cheap Quality

The button sticks and makes the bell keep going off. Would not recommend.
