Absolutely love this lamp!

I've been wanting one of these lamps for a long time. I promised myself as soon as the price got within my range, it would be mine. So many people had good things to say about the WBM brand as well, I kept looking at those lamp options. I am SO glad that I bought it. It arrived today. The box had a tear in the lid. The lamp had a chunk broken off of it as well. (A fairly substantial piece, yet I did not feel it mattered enough to return the lamp. See photos.) The lamp is MUCH heavier than I had expected, so that was a surprise. You would definitely not want to place this where it could be knocked off or tipped over easily, or over a glass shelf. In our case, we have curious cats, so its final place will need to be where the cats cannot rub on it and tip it over or knock it off onto something else. The base is very sturdy and looks nice. Mine is a medium brown tone and would fit in about any décor. I love the natural look of the lamp. (I have photos of the lamp both on and off - please check the additional photos in the item description.) I really look forward to seeing how it looks at night in a dark room. Some of the things in the tiny print in the usage manual include not using it outside, and to always use a placemat or coaster due to the salt "sweating" and possibly damaging furniture. Right now, mine is on a surface that won't matter, but it is worth mentioning, in case you might have plans to place it on a good end table or bookcase. In my case, this is going to be in my bedroom, and I already have an orange bedspread, so it fits right in. However, I would love this no matter what colors I had in my room. The height and size varies naturally, so no two lamps will be alike. Mine is approximately 8.25" tall (including the base), and fits well into the bedroom. It seems to be about 4.5" wide. I love all the natural crags and crevaces of the lamp. The backside of mine is flat, but that's okay too. I am using the original night light (which is replaceable either to change colors or replace a burned out light), and the lamp gives off a very pleasant orange/peach glow. I like just looking at it too, and will probably stare at it a little more in the dark! Ha! As far as freshening the air with the negative ions - it is too soon to tell, so I'll update my review once I feel we've had time to feel a difference. Our bedroom is not huge (maybe 10x11), so 2-3 weeks should be enough time to feel any breathing differences. Both my daughter and I have asthma and allergies. The cats are in and out of here all day long as well, so anything it can do to help is going to be great. I've read both good and bad about the negative ion thing and asthma, so I have placed it away from where my head will actually be in bed. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase, and will probably be buying more as the money allows. The look alone is enough to please me, and I do hope the salt lives up to the claims on the air freshening. UPDATE AUG 2011: We now have THREE of these lamps. Yes, they seem to do that much good for the air quality. We have a very small place, and despite changing the filters monthly, is the most dusty place in which I've ever lived. Since using these lamps, I no longer experience that burning in my sinuses that I had before. Each lamp received has been very different, with the last one being the lightest in color. However, as long as they are all a chunk of the salt, and they do their job, I can live with that. I want to get a smaller one for our bathroom as well. NOTE: When replacing the bulbs, they use a bulb just like a Christmas tree light. HOWEVER - most holiday lights are only 4 watts. You will NOT get the air purifying effect with that - it will be a decorative light only. The salt has to get warm to help filter the air, and that only happens with a 15-watt bulb. They are available in 2-packs at WalMart, and I am sure many other places. Just check on your wattage if your lamp does not seem to be doing much.

Pretty cool

This is a cool addition to any room. I ordered it because we have one at work in our serenity room. I enjoy the colour when it's on. I use it @ nite as a nightlight. The adjustments for the brightness is helpful. I just would prefer if it had a timer & you were able to set it to the brightness desired. Other than that it's a nice addition.

It's what I hoped for, exactly as advertised

Very pretty piece. Exactly as advertised. I like that I'm able to adjust the brightness, as I use it as a nightlight in my bedroom. It's on 24/7 for a month now with no problems. I have it set too low to get any sweating of the salt, so probably missing out on the effects of that, but it is very pretty and functions well for my needs. I may put it on a smart plug and schedule within the Alexa app, that way I could turn it up for more salt benefit and have it go off at bedtime. That would work too. Either way, a good purchase methinks!

Look no further, this is an Authentic Himalayan salt lamp. I bought this lamp 7 years ago, using it only in the evenings, it has worked perfectly and the bulb has even lasted all this time too! Highly recommend and I am buying a second one.

Big and bright

PROS: It works! Base is securely attached and the bulb is powerful. The lamp came securely packaged. No assembly required. Includes clear instructions for cleaning, changing the bulb, not to use it outside, etc., as well as a customer service phone number to call if you need help. This lamp is big and bright. Really big! Really bright! It's freaking HUGE, much taller and wider than smaller models. Fortunately, it doesn't actually take up that much more space. If you had a smaller model before, you should be fine upgrading to this one as far as its footprint is concerned (but do note the weight difference). The lamp on high is super-bright. Imperfections in the crystal gave mine a cool, two-tone dark orange burn-like effect down one side which gives it extra personality. Of course, that's random. They say in the instructions to allow a 10-20% variation in what every lamp looks like, so I assume this weird two-tone effect was just the luck of the draw (see below for the imperfections I didn't like nearly as much). CONS: Dimmer switch is weird. It takes way too many turns of the switch to get it to actually do anything (turn on or off, or for the light to come on at all). Once you do get the light to turn on, then the dimmer works perfectly taking you from super-dim to full bright fast. One side of the lamp seems slightly too thin. I say that because it feels like too much light comes through to the point where I can almost see the bulb inside! It feels solid though. However, I don't like the aesthetics of that side, so now I can only use the lamp turned in one direction... fortunately, that's the two-tone "burnt" side, so it works out fine, even if it's not ideal. Various imperfections in the crystal give it a dirty, dusty look with lots of weird gray bits (maybe burnt salt?) all over it. They don't really rub off, so I think I'm stuck with them. My previous salt lamp did not have dark gray stuff, just white, which is what I was expecting from this one. This lamp is heavy! It will probably break your bones (or worse) if it falls on you. Be extremely careful getting it out of the box and moving it around your home. Mind the cord and keep your kids and pets away from both the cord and the lamp itself. The lamp takes a long time to heat up its surface, but when it finally does, it gets noticeably warmer than the smaller models, probably due to the more powerful bulb. That's probably great in winter, but less so in summer. SUMMARY Overall, this seems like a good, solid salt lamp, though its aesthetics may not be too everyone's taste and the dimmer is weird.

I gifted one and that friend loves the dimmer switch, is sleeping better, these are the true Himalayan Salt Lamps from Pakistan, the price is Great Value!, Great to have the dimmer switch, as I & my friend use it, just enough light, & saves on electrical bills!, I love the soft lighting amber glow these lamps give, I'm not one for high lighting, I like the soft lighting these WBM 1002 lighting give,, I believe in the cleaning of air, I have them near my plants as well. they're safe comes in proper packaging, every section is well wrapped separately, I'm extremely pleased with mine, everyone has a different shape, stands very well on it's neem wood base!, Looks Fantastic, Very Impressed! as is my friend I bought one for!, I believe in the health benefits, as said I've bought 5 now! Looks okay, but not the nicest shape

Have a much bigger one which is attractive, this one is an ugly lump and the bulb went after a fortnight, so need to buy another, only time will tell if the bulb was naff or this lump of salt gets through bulbs like I can get through chocolate. My other larger , much larger salt lamp is just on its second bulb after 4 years

Customer service

This salt lamp is excellent quality. Very heavy and has a dimmer switch with it to have full brightness or very dim for sleep time. The best thing about this lamp is the customer service from this company. The first lamp I ordered came with a broken switch. The company issued me a prepaid label to return the broken lamp and issued me a new one right away. The new lamp arrived 4 days later even before the returned lamp had reached them. I really love this lamp and appreciate the customer service from the company.

Lovely lamp.

Great lamps and a great Black Friday price. Ordered 4 and kept one. The one I used had the bulb blow after only 10 hours of being on. However had great customer service from WBM who when told that despite changing bulb and fuse I couldn’t get it to work, sent a replacement out with no need for me to return the other, really quickly. The other 3 are all working fine apparently. Inside the box there is a note saying don’t contact seller contact WBM direct with an email address or phone number.

Nice ambiance

This is a perfect lamp for night time ambiance. The light isn’t too strong however, it would be nice if it had a dimmer switch like my other one. The only downfall is I bought this just in October and the bulb has already burned out.
