Dual bright feature with motion detect on a decorative fixture is hard to find
I really like the dual bright feature as I have it on some floodlights already. Dual bright allows you to have the light on but dimmer (some light but not wasting energy until it detects motion and will then go full bright). There are multiple settings for how long you want dual bright on for and how long to stay bright one motion is detected, or you can use as standard motion detect only, etc. I didn't like the color as it didn't look like it did in picture (less metalic looking than I had expected) but decided it looked good enough to keep considering it had all the other features I wanted. I also wanted to turn the motion detect sensor 90 degrees due to where I mounted it but it only rotates about 45 degrees. As it turns out, the motion is still able to be detected when approaching from the side so it functions ok when mounted perpendicular to approach. Biggest issue is requirement for incandescent bulbs which are not preferrable. Reviews stated that dimmable LED bulbs have worked for people but dimmable/outdoor led bulbs I tried did not work at all. I tried some indoor led bulbs that I also had and they worked but flickered. I would like to find a good decorative, high wattage led outdoor bulb that works (at least 100 watt equivalent).

Work Fantastic, DualBrite is Great !!!
DECISION I originally ordered 2 of these to test out on my front porch and back patio, they worked so great I ordered 3 more which were new fixtures requiring new power to be run, but it was well worth the labor. One of the 3 other lights was installed on a side yard where our garbage cans are, it was always a pain to go out after dark because the backside of the house had no light. The other 2 were installed on each side of my garage door, replacing a flood light with 2 120w incandescents. I originally bought a light from Home Depot which was supposed to be dusk till dawn, but it never shut off, even during the brightest time of the day. I had all the settings right and it was not in manual mode, but it refused to turn off. The only help the manual gave was that if it doesn't turn off then move it to a location with better light. I did have it on the front porch which is partially covered, but that never stopped my previous light from sensing daylight in the same location. After having these issues with the other light, I found the Heath/Zenith Carriage Light on Amazon, figured I'd give it a try after reading many reviews. It works perfectly in all my locations, even the shaded ones. USE AND FUNCTIONALITY The price of this light is great, it's was actually $10 cheaper than the other I got prior, but it has DualBrite (which the other didn't have) and looks very similar. I like the slim carriage style as opposed to the bulky carriage style I had with the other one. I currently have the 2 on the front of the garage, 1 on front porch, and 1 on back patio all set to dusk to dawn, 1 minute (bright on), 3 hour (time after dusk), so it dims after 1 minute, and completely turns off after 3 hours of being on at which time it goes into motion only mode. The one on the back of the house is set to 10 minutes and off so that it will stay on for 10 minutes when motion is detected, but off until next motion detection. You can set the ON TIME to Test (5 seconds), 1, 5, or 10 minutes, this is the time the light will be on full brightness, then go into dim light. There is also an off, 3, or 6 hours setting which is the time it will remain on (dimmed till motion detected) in which time it will shut off. There is also a manual mode, if the switch is on in manual mode the light will remain on until it is either turned off, at dawn, or manual mode is overriden by flipping the switch off for a second and back on (note, it resets to auto at dawn). I currently have a 9.5w LED bulb (60w incandescent equivalent) by CREE in all these lights and it's working great with the DualBrite mode. I also tried a CFL, and a normal incandescent which all work great as well. RARE EXPERIENCE One thing that threw me for a loop was that one of the lights was acting strange, when it went to dim from full bright, it was turning off for like 5 seconds before turning back on in dim mode. I thought I had wired it wrong, so I took it off and verified it was right. Since this one was on a new circuit I wired I thought it might be that, but the next light on the circuit had no issues. Then it dawned on me, the only difference between this light and the others was that this one was installed extremely close to a rain gutter downspout, so I thought the light might be glaring from the shiny gutter and making it seem like it was still daylight, so I placed a piece of cardboard between the light sensor and gutter to block the light from shining back from the gutter and voila, it worked, so I stuck a more permanent piece of half rounded sheet metal covered in electrical tape next to the light sensor on the gutter side. It has not given me a problem since. CONCLUSION I love this light, it looks great, and the DualBrite is a very great feature to have. I highly recommend these if you like the style and want the functionality I described above. Also, as always, Amazon Prime got these to me within 2 days and in perfect condition. UPDATE: 2013-08-28 - I have uploaded some pictures showing the CREE LED bulb in one, a couple showing the dimmed LED and the LED at Full strength. I was going to upload a short video showing the dimmer in action, but seems Amazon doesn't allow MP4 uploads so I'll have to convert and upload later.

Happy purchase - research and reviews pay off
I did a lot of research on motion sensing lanterns to replace the old lights on my garage. Purchased these and installed them today. I am not a professional electrician, and I installed these with ease. I did have to run a wire between the two, inside the garage, in order to connect the sensors, but that was simple. You have three options with the sensors (if using multiple lights). You can run them independently, your can have a master-slave (one sensor controls both lights), or you can have master-master, in which if one brightens, they both do, so they're in sync. That makes the most sense to me. If you're lucky and you're replacing pre-wired lights, these will go in easily, but if you want to connect the sensors you'll have to add a wire as I did. The dual-brite and time settings are conveniently located on the underside of the frame. You can set them to be on for 3 hours, 6 hours or dusk to dawn (I'm using dusk to dawn), and you can set the time they remain bright when triggered to 1, 5 or 10 minutes. The motion sensitivity dial is inside the base, which means taking them off, adjusting, and putting them back on if you want to adjust the distance. I am having a little difficulty dialing the sensitivity down - it's 27 feet to my sidewalk, and I don't want the lights to brighten every time someone goes by walking their dog. I've dialed them both down significantly, and I'm still setting them off when walking by. They are nicely sensitive at an angle. I'm a little worried that one of them might have a problem with the adjustablility, which would be tough to identify since I made them dual-controlled. I've given up for now - it's not HZ's fault it pouring outside. I really like the dual-brite feature. I installed clear bright bulbs (am going to replace them with clear dimmable LED bulbs tomorrow), and they have a nice, low glow until triggered, and then they come on quite brightly. They look terrific. If I can get the sensitivity adjusted to where I want it when the rain stops, I will mark this product 5 stars.

Affordable Excellent Lights!
I bought these lights for my outside garage. I got lucky and got some that were returned for a reduced price. Let me say their excellent looking and my neighbors loved them. I put regular Edison bulbs in. These lights don't work with Led bulbs. Buy the Edison bulbs and you'll love these lights. They're on regular and then flip to bright with motion ...
