Best value you can get for your money for a complete set of upper and lower case letters.

And I must say, it is of high quality too. We received this Hape Early Explorer - ABC Magnetic Letters Playset only yesterday, but I just have to get on here to write a review. My daughter (almost 3 years old) and I both love it! The letters are lightweight, colorful, and attractive. The magnets that FULLY line the back are strong; they stuck very well on our fridge. They are pretty sizeable. Lower case letters are approximately 1 3/4" tall (for e.g. "l" & "t"), and 1 3/8" tall (for e.g. "a" & "r") and 1 3/8" wide, Upper case letters are just slightly bigger at 1 7/8" and 1 1/2" wide. I wanted to find a useful play tool to help my daughter learn spelling and to reinforce letter recognition, and I can see this working very well for that purpose. These are very well-made, as with all other Hape toys we have purchased so far. The letters (both upper and lower case) have rounded corners and are nicely sanded and painted, so there is no worry of splintered wood or peeling/flaking paint. They even come with a handy cloth drawstring pouch (think Scrabble) to hold all the loose letters when not in use. I also bought the MindWare Imagination Patterns to go with this, instead of the Hape Early Explorer Anywhere Table Top Art Studio that is pictured with this product. It is large enough to use the alphabet set with, so I get a three-in-one with the MindWare toy, since it has a whole other set of activities by itself. Now, we can practise spelling on the fridge door while mummy's preparing dinner! For this purchase, I definitely feel that my time spent browsing and comparing had paid off.

Almost perfect!

These are beautiful and I really love that the whole back is magnetic. While they still would need supervision with younger kids, I feel like they're not nearly the danger that some of the other letters with small pea size magnets on the back are. My only complaint is that the magnetic connection is very weak. If you're using these on a fridge or magnet board to spell out words (they will NOT hold anything up!) they would work great. However I'm using them on a rounded metal surface, so they can be easily knocked off and some slide down when trying to attach, but they do still work. I will say that I've read similar things about almost all the other abc magnet sets I've looked at. This also seems to be the best deal, with a full set of upper and lower case letters. I'll be curious to see how they hold up if they get 'mouthed' on a bit.

Great product for the price

I was happy to find a set of letters that included upper and LOWER case letters - not easy to find it turns out. These are perfect. We received a complete set of letters, I saw reviews that some did not, and the upper and lower case letters match in color so it makes it a little easier for little ones to match up. Sturdy and I expect them to last through my 2 kiddos and still be able to be handed down but I expect some signs of wear. For the price they are a great value.

Strong and Durable

I was pleased to find alphabet letters made from wood! These magnets are very strong and I predict they’ll withstand the frequent use from my grandkids. The only drawback is see is the he fact the set does not give the customer enough letters to spell out certain words or several words at a time. Guess I’ll have to order more!

Perfect magnets

Perfect for kids. Ticks all of the boxes for me. They are made of wood The whole back is magnetic instead of those little choking hazards. The letter is printed on instead of stuck on like other wooden magnets I researched, so no peeling. They have held up to a 2.5 year old and a 1 year old very well. When my eldest is starting to spell I will have to get another set as 1 lowercase and 1 uppercase letter wont be enough.

Depth makes these magnetics difficult to pick up.

Not easy to remove magnetics due to it's depth. 1/4" more might of helped.

Font isn't great

The magnets seem pretty good in terms of quality, but the font choices make it hard to tell what the letters are. I like them, but as an educational toy this kinda defeats the purpose. Neaten up the font and 5 stars, easy.

Nice high quality set, but would be better with higher frequencies of most common letters

These are really nice quality. We've had them for over a year now and they're holding up perfectly. They stick to the fridge well and haven't splintered at all. My only caution in buying this set in retrospect is that, while having one full set of uppercase letters and one full set of lowercase letters is fine if your main goal is simply letter recognition, however if you want your child to be able to spell things out on the fridge you're going to need more than one set. Ideally, I'd love for Hape to make a larger set available with highest frequencies for the most common letters. As is, I'm back to buy a full second set -- which will undoubtedly still leave us with too many Xs and Zs not enough Es and As.

So fun!

These are great for little ones for learning their ABCs. Comes with 2 sets, upper case and lower case letters! Great to keep on the fridge (but may go missing after a few days lol). They hold up quite nicely!

Perfect toddler distraction

Great set to distract my 2year old in the kitchen. Great bright big letters. Love that it's both lower and upper case. Esp love that the magnet part is an entire layer rather than small circles stuck on (which could fall off and be swallowed). Specifically sought wooden letters out as we are trying to cut down on plastic and these def fit the bill.

Great quality, durable and safe fridge magnets

We bought two sets of these so our child could make more words. We are super impressed with both the quality and the safety of these letter magnets. They are much safer than the plastic ones with the magnets that keep falling out and are excellent quality.

Cute, but missing letters.

Well made and look great on my fridge. My little one loves playing with them. However like many others I am missing several letters that are supposed to be in the kit.
