Fun addition to classroom
I have been using this for about 3 months now. It has held up well with daily classroom use. I had read reviews before purchasing and agree with all of those who say it is not dry erase ready. Once I saw the cardboard inserts, I could tell they would not last long unless they were laminated, so I laminated them before using them. The magnet backing is strong enough to stay in place while 2nd and 3rd grade students spin it. Occasionally the spinning wheel comes off and will not spin properly, I push in the center, and it pops back in place. The students enjoy taking turns spinning the wheel, reading the space it landed on, and answering the question. I debated purchasing it because of the cost, but I am pleased with the purchase and would buy it again.

Very good for price
I got this to use as a prize wheel in a restaurant I manage. I run sales contests every shift. Now the servers spin for wide variety of prizes ranging from me doing their post-shift clean up for them to free meals to a $100 gas card. I can't afford to give out a $100 gas card every shift, but I will take a chance on putting it as 1 of 32 prizes they have a chance to win. Affordable *Seems to be very sturdy *Flixible with multiple laminated spinner faces including 4, 8, 6, 12, and 32 sections plus a blank. Easy for dry or wet erase markers. *Magnets are very strong. No problems hanging it on a steel cabinet or door. Cons *The spinner is very stiff. I trimmed the "flapper" down a little bit to get less resistance there, and that helped some. The spinning mechanism itself doesn't spin very freely. One hard spin seems to get it about 1.25 rotations. I would prefer to have it spin around a couple times. I am hoping it will loosen up with use. *The sections don't exactly match the flapper stops on all the face cards, so there might still be some judgement calls on which color the pointer is actually on. Overall I am happy with it, and the staff is getting quite a kick out of it. They like having a chance at bigger prizes each shift.

Is this truly dry erase?
I purchased this as a fun incentive spinner to use as part of my behavior management system at home. My plan is to write small and sweet incentives for my children to reward good behavior periodically. I was impressed with the size of the wheel and the magnet seems very strong. The back of the wheel ( behind the circle insert) is not solid but seems like that shouldn't be a problem. The only thing I am not entirely pleased with is that the instructions say to wipe off the dry erase marker on the spinner every night.... Since I am not using this in a classroom setting, and planned on leaving the incentive up on the spinner for several days before switching them, I am curious, what will happen if I do leave the dry erase marker on for more than just one day, will it become permanent? To remedy the problem, I plan on taking the circles to a local office supply store and have them laminated so the dry erase marker can be wiped clean after several days. Overall, I think my children will really find this a fun and interactive way to earn good behavior incentives!

Perfect for my Application
I thought that it might be helpful to share my experience with this spinning wheel given the varied reviews. I am always a little hesitant to purchase when I read similar product review issue but I was in need of a carnival type spinning wheel for an upcoming family get together and this one seemed to fit the bill at a reasonable price so I gave it a shot. I have to say that I experienced none of the issues that some of the other reviewers reported. The magnets are strong enough to hold the wheel securely on our metal door (although I can not comment on whether it would hold on a white board). More importantly, the wheel makes multiple revolutions with a simple flick of the wrist (no stiffness as reported by many others). This seemed to be the biggest complaint and the one I was most concerned about. All-in-all I am quite happy with this purchase as it does exactly what I was expecting a spinning wheel to do and is perfect for my gaming application. I can obviously only speak for the unit I received but if you are looking for a decent sized carnival type spinning wheel for a group function I believe that you will be quite satisfied with this product.

Big Kids Like Games Too!
I love this classroom tool! I use this in my high school English class as a way to keep the students on their toes. I got so overwhelmed feeling like I had to give everything a grade, but the students don't typically do an assignment if they know it's not for a grade. Now I have minor "spin for a grade" assignments. I mark the wheel as Legitimate Grade, Participation Grade, Extra Credit, & No Grade. We don't spin until everyone turns in their assignment. Students are motivated to complete the assignment to the best of their abilities b/c they don't know how I'm going to grade it. Bonus: they get so excited to spin. It's like a game show in my classroom. The only negative I have is that the magnet is not strong enough to hang on my dry erase board. It does, however, stick to the side of my desk which works just as well. I also don't know that I'd consider the panels to be dry erase b/c it's not easy to get the marker off. Again, this is not a problem since I don't need to change the categories on a regular basis.
