Seems to be as good or better then the trek lights hammocks
I bought the trek light hammock first, but then I found this hammaka hammock for a real good deal, so I bought it to have a spare one. I was glad to see that this hammaka hammock can hold 50 more pounds then the trek light hammock and is lighter in weight and is at a cheaper price then the trek light hammock, but time will tell which hammock will hold up longer. The only two things I didn't like about this Hammaka hammock is the two small ropes on each end aren't extremely strong and the metal hooks on each end are slightly heavy. So I replaced the two end ropes with very strong ropes and I replaced the two metal hooks with four metal rings, that's two metal rings that are Girth Hitched onto the new ropes I put at each end of the hammock. Then I used two pieces of 15'foot heavy duty nylon webbing so I can wrap the two long pieces of nylon webbing around the two trees and then put the webbing through each end of the two metal rings, then I can very quickly lift the hammock into the exact height I want it at. This way if the hammock is too high or too low or one side is too much higher then the other side, I can very quickly and easily adjust the hammock by sliding the webbing through the two rings. To wrap the webbing around the trees I form a bite in one end of the webbing that is a long enough bite to be able to tie a simple over hand knot in that bite and this forms a loop. Then I wrap the webbing around the tree and put the webbing through that loop and pull it on through until the webbing is securely against the tree. Then I put the working end of the webbing through the two metal rings and then partially through the two metal rings again in the same direction, but this time on the second pass through you bring the webbing out the middle of the two metal rings and then the webbing will jam and not come unjammed until you bring the rings apart slightly, but the webbing will only jam up when pulled in one direction and run freely in the other direction. To understand how I'm using the two metal rings better, look at this video on youtube. 'The Best Way to Hang a Hammock || Rap Rings' But instead of using rope like he's using in the video to go through the two rings, I'm using the nylon webbing to go through the two rings. Being in this hammock or the trek light hammock is extremely relaxing and so when I get in, I don't want to get back out. If you want a mosquito net for your hammock buy the netting from Eno, not from trek light. Eno's netting is vastly superior to trek lights mosquito netting.

Best thing to camp in, hands down.
After years of schlepping around a tent, rain fly, ground cloth and sleeping pad just to get a decent nights rest in the bush, I decided to take a chance with the Hammaka Double Hammock. My goal was to cut weight and bulk to my pack, while maintaining some level of comfort and protection from the elements. Coupled with the Chinook 9x12 tarp, you can't beat the set up. First, the hammock is super light. I placed it on a food scale and it came in right around a pound. Most of that weight are the metal hooks attached to the hammock (it comes with 2 more crappy carabiner-type hooks, but I discarded those). It also folds up into its own little pouch, which saves on weight as well. When I got in the hammock, I wasn't sure it would hold all my weight (190 lbs), as it doesn't feel like it should. But it did, as well as the weight of a woman I met out on the trails as well. When setting it up, make sure the hammock is stretched straight across, with no slack in it. Too much slack and your butt will be on the ground. Also, don't worry about $20 commercial hanging straps. I cut (2) 6' lengths and (1) 10' length of 2" nylon webbing, and between those lengths I have yet to find a place I can't set up. Finally, the only downside to the hammock is it can be a bit difficult to get into the sleeping bag. I'm 6'2", and I have to squirm quite a bit to get in the bag. I can get in it though, and the comfort level is unmatched. Also, this might be a bit unnerving to people not used to sleeping exposed in the bush, even with the tarp over it. Don't think your wife or girlfriend is going to enjoy this.

AWESOME!!!
Being a big guy(230 pounds), I wanted the two person hammock for my singular use. I didn't want to be asleep in the rainforest and suddenly be deposited on the forest floor due to excessive wear. This hammock is wonderful, and it folds up a lot smaller than the locally made ones in South America (leaving a lot more room in my pack than if I were using one of the local/cotton hammocks). This is the first hammock I have ever owned, but only took ten minutes to get used to. Luckily the guide had a mosquito net and basha(light weight tarp) for my use, I didn't know to get those. Oops. Since then I picked up a mosquito net in Georgetown (be sure to get the kind for the hammock that ties around the ropes and drapes long so it can be tied on the bottom--have someone who knows show you that last part, easy to do but tricky to describe) and have purchased a basha on amazon in case I am trekking guide less. The hammock was very roomy, but I doubt I would want to sleep in the hammock with a girlfriend or wife, every time one person moves at all it will affect both. Not only would I recommend this to a friend, I have already told business partners to get them before coming to Guyana, they'll need them.

8 years and going strong
I bought this hammock sept 11, 2011 and had it delivered to me in Afghanistan. I used it extensively out there for 8 months. After my return stateside and exit from the Marines it’s been well used on many backpacking, camping, and climbing trips. It hung between two oak trees at Skydive Dallas for 6 months and remained serviceable. It lives under the seat of my truck to deploy at a moments notice to catch some Z’s. I’m now flying aircraft for military jump ops and this hammock is a welcomed place to crash while waiting to fire up the plane. I’m careful not to let it bake in the sun and it’s lasted 8 years. It’s slightly bulkier and a tad heavier than another brand I’ve tried that died quickly. This is the hammock you want to buy.
