Good value for money... but very large
This pump has been in service for more than 2 years without issues. Due to its older design, it is a very large and heavy unit that requires the motor to be mounted to the pump assembly before use. It also requires that a check valve be installed on the pump output (not included). The check valve also requires a 1/8" hole to be drilled on the input side of the check valve to bleed off pressure between the valve and pump impellers when the pump shuts off. Failure to do that will cause premature pump failure. I feel anyone with average mechanical skills can easily install this pump on their own. My well specs: 6" casing 100 feet deep 80 feet pump depth 1-1/4 main pipe diameter.

2 years of sprinkler/ home water use and counting
I installed this pump on 10/5/2020 and it has worked fine for me. I use it for both my home water and for 1.5 acres of sprinklers. It typically runs continuously for 3 hours on average each night. I use a cycle stop valve to limit the number of starts and stops so once it starts at night it doesn't stop until it is finished watering. I replaced a red lion 1.5 HP pump with this pump at the last pump failure after it ran for 4 years. My well is 80 feet deep. I do not get anywhere near 33GPM of flow. I'm still determining what the flow is but several of my sprinkler zones use 14 GPM. I have not replaced any control box components to date.

Works great!
Used this to replace a dead red jacket 1.5hp pump for my irrigation system. Its about 4-6 inches longer, but seems to be a perfect match and drives my sprinkler heads the same as the old one. It came with wire crimps and submersible adhesive grade heat shrink tubing. I made the mistake of attaching my wires before putting them through my well casing in my pvc riser which sits on the bottom (doh!)... but, no worries, you can buy another well grade heat shrink tubing kit from Lowes. I like the tubing from Lowes a bit better as the tubing is Longer and looks more like the black tubing that was used to seal the old motor connection. That said, I'm sure the clear tubing they provide will work fine provided you follow instructions and make sure you take time with your heat gun and make sure you see the adhesive start to bleed out around both ends. So far, I'm very happy with this purchase! It came well protected during shipping and was easy to assemble. The hardest part is reattaching the metal intake screen once you connect the motor/impeller units (very tight, but have patience and you will get there!). The old red jacket pump lasted nearly 15 years-- would be cool if I get this kind of life out of this one, but time will tell right?

Great price great product
Instructions were hard to follow and didn’t line up with the wire colors. Yellow with stripe green is ground. Works good. Well depth is 85 feet.

Been like 6 months so far no issues.
Used to salvage well that has been dormant for 20 years. Old pump locked up. It pumped all types of dirt and sand out before it finally cleared up. I have bought 2 of these pumps at the used price of just over 100$ and I'm about to buy one more as I have 3 wells on property and would like to have backups for those since the first one has worked so well. My Wells only go down to a max of 120ft and for the most part I keep my pumps at 60ft with groundwater starting at 15ft down or less and their have been no issues. I think people running these further underground ar the ones having issues. For anything above 100ft I vouch for this pump. Will update if my pump fails before the 10 year mark. No update means no failure.

The additional vertical in-line spring loaded check valves should be installed
Recently I replaced my 15 years-old Flotec deep well submersible pump (3/4 HP, 6.8 Amp) with the Hallmark Industries MA0419X-12A deep well submersible pump (2 HP, 10.2 Amp, 35 GPM, 400' Head). I bought Hallmark pump, because Flotec do not use anymore powerful 6.8 Amps motors from the Franklin Electric company. The depth of my well is 455 feet. The pump was set at 400 feet. The seasonal depths to water are from 300 feet to 150 feet. Static/Standing water level is unknown...The rubber torque arrestor was installed properly. Unfortunately the water hammer problem started immediately and in a few days the underground pitless adapter was damaged. The adapter started liking. Water hammers (water hammering) are frequently caused by problems associated with: - a built-in soft starter (does not work properly or missing), - a built-in check valve. Especially when a simple check valve (such as a lift check valve) is installed instead of a silent check valve. Water hammer happens during pressure surges following quick valve closure. To show how powerful a water hammer can be, I connected my homemade T-puller to the underground pitless adapter. You can see my YouTube video by entering these keywords: water hammer generated by a powerful deep well submersible water pump. There are two practical solutions to avoid water hammering : - for a deep pump settings it is recommended that additional vertical in-line spring loaded check valves be installed in the drop pipe at 200 ft intervals. - install a soft-start/stop control(ler) with torque control similar to this one (12 Amps, soft start ONLY). I did not find a soft-start controller for a reasonable price. The cheapest one was for the price of pump (Http://amzn.to/1NWGUSe.), therefore I reinstalled pump with two check valves. One was installed after the first 200 feet of black plastic water pipe, the second one was installed into the removable part of the pitless adapter. Since that time pump works great at the 450" depth! Some Tips: - to secure your pipe connections I would recommend you to use brass Pro-grade long or XL (extra-long) adapters with 12 barbs that will allow you to install three hose clamps for each connection, - use wide Pro-grade clamps, but not the Home Depot-grade clamps, - to reinforce the clamps (to prevent them from loosening up) I prefer to apply electrical tape over the clamps. I like this outdoor-use tape: http://amzn.to/24pn63j - use a heat gun to simplify installation of barbed adapters and heat shrink splicings/tubings for the electrical cable connections, - immerse spliced connections PRIOR to the installation of your pump to the well to test electrical cable and splices for leaks to ground
