Great value for the cost
I've installed a lot of different kinds of well and domestic water pumps and this one is my favorite. Whether you put it in a well casing, drop it in a creek or river, or submerse it in your pond or lake, it really moves a lot of water with very good pressure at a high head. Seems well designed and the casing, stainless steel, and fittings are in my opinion of a very high quality.

One of the best pumps in the market
My original pump failed after 35 years of service. This is the second pump (1 hp ) that I have purchased from Hallmark Industries and installed in the last three years because I have two wells. Installation was easy and straightforward . The first one is performing flawlessly, so far. Don’t expect any issues because pumps are well build. Manual is great with a lot of details for wiring, testing and installation.

Was sent 115 volt pump this time instead of 240 volt.
Handled the problem and works okay.

USED OR RECONDITIONED BEWARE !!
The media could not be loaded. I bought in Dec 2015, but installed in Spring about mid-March. I tested in a trash can first for about 20-30 secs and left it overnight. In the morning there was rusty residue all over. All over the bottom of the trash can, all over the pump, etc... photos attached. I should add that I had filled the trash can with clean water. I guess they assumed people just drop it in the well without testing and wouldn't notice! Bad assumption. AND NOW the pump doesn't work! It turns on, but after 2 months of very lite use, it sounds like a garbage disposal pushing around a handful of change. So back into the trash can for testing and sure enough, turns on but no water out the top. Sent Amazon and Hallmark warranty requests and no reply. Maybe this post will result in some response. Happy to update this if I receive a NEW pump in exchange. Update: Since Hallmark has stopped responding after trying to have me pay $34 for shipping, I might as well fill the rest of you in on the way they deal with customers. Me to HIInc, I have more pictures but your system doesn't take them so i'm sending them to AMAZON. I have video of the motor spinning fine (very smooth and quiet) but the other half (PTO) impeller not only slops around (360) but also slops up and down, as I can grip the center piece and tug it up and down about 3/4". I'm still having a hard time believing Hallmark only gives a 30 day warranty on a pump that is suppose to last a decade or more. Really! Bad form. ____________________________ HIInc. We have discussed your pump. I told you that Hallmark Industries has 6 month warranty on all the pumps. I don’t know why you keep saying 30 day warranty. ____________________________ I am happy to eat crow to get this accomplished but I said, "I'm very surprised Hallmark only offers a 30 day warranty on a pump that should last a homeowner years. If I had heard "6 months warranty" I would have jumped all over it. Be that as it may, I'm happy to move forward if your suggesting I send in the pump. I do not have the original packaging but will do my best if you any packaging suggestions, feel free. Did you see any of the new pics or video on Amazon? Please review my Amazon receipt and let me know. Also see attachment as a MS .doc ____________________________ HIInc. This pump should be covered by warranty. Again the warranty procedure is similar to all the merchandise warranty, which requires buyer return the damaged item. We will fix it for free (parts and labor). However, If you remove the negative product review on Amazon, you do not have to ship the old pump assembly to us, we can ship you a functional pump assembly (since your motor is still good). You just pay the shipping charge of $33.76. _____________________________ Hallmark is not going to address the rust issue? Not even to the extent to cover the shipping? I imagine now is the time to tell you I run my own business, am very familiar with UPS/FedEx shipping prices and am basically insulted. Shipping to a commercial address, is $18.51 and $21.90 to my home, not even taking into consideration that you have a much better discount with UPS because of your volume. Your shipping cost is about $12 or you need to hire a new fulfillment manger to negotiate a new contract for you. Keep your $33.76 and I'll keep my Amazon review, and don't think I didn't realize the pump assembly is worthless. It's not worth the time to replace the parts. There are pumps with better warranties. You did adjust the shipping weight to 8lbs (pump assembly, sans motor) and the length to 20"-24", correct? Hard to believe management wouldn't spend $12 to turn an issue into an opportunity. They must have run the numbers and figured the negative reviews don't matter that much. I'm into this $181.63 with a pump that has about 2wks of warranty left, not worth putting in another $1. The correct way to have handled this would have been to instruct me to package it up, email me a label or account # and have me drop it off at a UPS store. You inspect the assembly (get a chance to see the rust-maybe you can figure out how it got there) decide whether or not to honor your warranty. You'll be able to tell I haven't opened the pump assembly. If manu. defect, send out a new assembly. No reason a customer should pay shipping when it was the companies part that broke during warranty. _______________________________ HIInc. Ok, please remove the negative review and we will ship you a pump head free of charge. You don’t have to ship yours back. Thanks, _______________________________ Hallmarks shipping stunt has shaken my faith. I had stated from the beginning I would change the review. I haven't done anything to make you think otherwise. I will have to install and test the pump assembly, then correct the review if it performs as designed. _______________________________ HIInc. We have stated from the beginning as well, that the standard procedure is to return the pump head to us for repair. I am just trying to offer you an option of not shipping the old pump head back. If you don’t like it, just return the pump head and we will take care this. Please ship the pump head (including the Amazon order details) to: Hallmark Industries 624 Estes Ave Attn: R51434 Schaumburg, IL 60193 _______________________________ You were offering that I pay $33.75 for return shipping instead of $18.51. I will pass. Will the returned unit come with a 60 day warranty? ______________________________ This is where they stopped responding..... "We will take care of this" does not mean everything is approved and they will be shipping out a new assembly. The writing on the wall here is, I would pay for shipping to return the assembly. Then either 1. they would say I have to remove the negative review in order for them to return the assembly or 2. they just say the assembly was not a manufacture defect. They also don't answer whether the assembly will receive a new 6mo. warranty? (my mistake for typing 60day instead of 6 mo. I'm just so mad at these people I can't type straight) My gut feeling on this whole debacle is BoaTech is the one who took back a product and sold it to me as new. Notice they responded to me when I tried to contact Amazon as my listing was "sold and shipped" by Amazon.

Been working for almost two years
I installed this pump in December of 2020 and I knew I was taking a risk on an unknown brand. The big box stores were charging too much in my opinion so I rolled the dice on this unit. I unfortunately have a lot more experience with submersible pumps than I would like so the installation for me personally was very easy. My well depth is only about 75' so this pump gives me plenty of pressure. I knew when I opened the box it was just as well made as the Flotec I had most recently installed at another location. It was shipped with a decent amount of lead wire and the thread on connector went in easily. I used watertight butt splice connections to make the hookup to the well wire and then did an overall heatshrink to protect the connections. The pump comes on and shuts off smoothly and I noticed it doesn't jerk around in the well casing during on and off cycles which will extend the life of the wiring and the pump. After nearly two years I have zero complaints. Worth the money and a good product.

Great so far. Small gauge ground wire. If it lasts, it's the bomb!
Pump is set at 50 feet in a 57 foot deep well (static water level 19 ft.) on 1 1/4" poly tube/pipe. Open discharge (no pressure, just running open onto the ground) it was producing over 20 gpm. At 65 psi of pressure, it is producing a solid 11 gpm for several hours non-stop. I was skeptical of this pump because of the cheap price. The lead wires are of inferior quality. The ground wire is ridiculously small (gauge not length). If you are not adept at splicing, find someone who is or you may have a hard time make such a delicate connection. I would pay an extra $5 or $10 for a higher quality lead wire - you listening Hallmark? This appears to be a Chinese made pump, so do not expect Grundfos quality. I needed a 115 volt pump as I want to be able to pump with my Honda EU2000i generators which do not produce 220v only 115v. Have not had the opportunity to pump with the generators yet and we will see if they produce enough power to start this pump. Will update review when I've tested that. Overall, I am impressed so far, but time will tell how long this pump lasts. ***Update April 2016 - this pump continues to work good. I have now run the pump by powering it with my Honda EU2000i generator(s). With the two Hondas paralleled together and Eco throttle off, the pump starts up and pumps with barely a drop in voltage. With Eco throttle on and the generators starting from idle, there is a lag and voltage drop for a second as the pump has a high locked rotor amp draw during spin up. I even tried pumping with only one EU2000i by itself. It will start and pump water but the voltage will drop to approx. 79 volts. Hard on the pump and the generator I am sure. But it will work in an emergency. Happy so far. Hope this pump last a long time.*** ****Update June 2018 - still pumping!! I use this pump as the only pump supplying my home (2.5 bathrooms, 5 people) and a stock water tank for 14 mother cows. I am very impressed with this pump at it's price point. Would buy again! Increasing from 4 stars to 5.

Licensed electrician refused to install it - not compliant with ESA safety code
I really wanted to love this pump! It seems like such a smoking bargain. When I took it out of its package, I felt very good about my purchase until I read the installation manual. The manual is surprisingly well-written and illustrated, but it contains some very bad news that is not on the Amazon sales page--requirements that would have prevented me from wasting my time buying this. 1. This pump sounds like a miracle: 1 hp, 110V, 60 Hz, 33 GPM. Wow! But in the manual, it states that you need to install this on a single pole 30-amp breaker. When I spoke to the manufacturer by phone, he said that's because the pump motor's startup could spike usage up to 3 times the regular promised current requirement of 12.5 amps. My electrician said he’s never heard of a well pump needing a 30amp breaker installation. So forget putting it on a 15 amp breaker, or even a 20 amp breaker, as I originally planned. That wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker, except... 2. According to my electrician and the ESA safety code, you must use at least 10 gauge wire on a 30 amp circuit. Still not a deal breaker, except... 3. The 10' cord already installed on this motor, to which you are meant to create an underwater splice, is not 10 gauge wire. The code printed on the cable is: HO7RN - F 3G 1.5mm², and 1.5mm² is 16 gauge. The manufacturer insisted it was 2.5mm² (14 gauge), but I had to correct him, and I've included a picture of the wire. My electrician said it's acceptable to drop one gauge (from 10# to 12#, for example) in the last 5 feet of a run connecting to an electrical appliance, but this would be dropping from 10 gauge to 16 gauge--not even close to complying with our ESA code here in Canada, and I'm sure this would apply in the USA too--our codes aren't THAT different. 4. But there's more. My electrician told me that well pressure switches are designed with 20amp fuses inside them, so they are not designed to be powered by a 30amp circuit. I searched and confirmed that all the Square D pressure switches had internal 20amp fuses. The well pump would be connected to the pressure switch, a shutoff switch, and then to the circuit panel, so if the motor spiked to 30amps on startup, the first thing that would go is the fuse in your pressure switch. It would get pretty tiresome to keep going to the basement to fix that--if you were smart enough to diagnose it and fix it yourself without calling an expensive electrician to figure out why your well pump wasn't working. 5. And there's more. The Hallmark Industries website states: UL listed, UL file No.: E233961. But when I went to the UL Product iQ ™ searchable database, this UL file number didn't exist, and the manufacturer and the pump are not listed at all. I mentioned this little detail to the manufacturer by phone, and he said he would look into it. He called me back and said they USED TO have a UL listing, but let it expire, and hadn't gotten around to removing that very important information from the website. This is extremely misleading to consumers, and maybe something worse than misleading. 6. All electrical devices in Canada must be CSA or UL listed, for real! That's the law, and it's for your own safety. This pump has internal controls, including a capacitor that could carry enough residual charge even with the power disconnected to maybe kill a DIY guy or gal who thought they were working with a safe and approved product. Whatever. This baby was built with no-one looking over their shoulders. 7. The included "check valve" inside the pump outlet is a thin, free-spinning piece of transparent plastic. They say you should plan on installing your own check valve, and they are correct. But the garbage "check valve" they installed is so pathetically cheap and useless, and the cable is so cheap and more dangerous than useless, WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON INSIDE???!! Sure, it looks good on the outside, all solid, shiny (hopefully) stainless steel except for the cast iron around the stainless steel outlet (cast iron that will rust very well), but how do we know if it's 304 stainless steel, or a mixture including lead and plutonium or whatever! The guy on the phone (who, to his credit, answers the phone!) was reasonably pleasant, but not entirely reasonable. He tried to argue away some of the points I've made here with a bunch of absurd bafflegab, and finally resorted to the most pathetic argument of telling me that I was the ONLY customer who had EVER brought up ANY of these concerns even though they've sold like a MILLION or so of these pumps, so of course I had to be wrong. I told him that it was my licensed electrician who raised these concerns, not ME, and he should maybe read some of their Amazon reviews (check the US site too) if he thought all their customers were happy. He said their engineers had designed these (I'll bet there is not a single engineer on his own payroll) so how could they be wrong? I told him to send his engineers back to school (I'm sure they have some good engineering schools in China, where I'm pretty confident these are actually made, not the USA, as they claim) because they needed a bit more schooling! Please verify what I'm saying by requesting an installation manual BEFORE buying it, and then run these details past an electrician. Yes, these look like a huge bargain, but as I told the manufacturer: It's only a bargain if the product is good. If the product is unsafe and substandard and the promises are lies, no price is low enough for me. I sent it back for a refund. Good luck. ***Update*** I reported the bogus UL listing to United Laboratories market surveillance in the USA. They investigated and forced Hallmark to remove the false UL listing file number from their website!! BUT -- THEY CONTINUE TO USE BOGUS UL LISTING FILE NUMBER ON THIS AMAZON SITE! THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING!!! Bottom line: You can't trust this company, and their product is not safe to use. They stopped one aspect of their "misleading" advertising under threat of legal action, but I'd love to see a REAL engineer's analysis of this pump from the inside out. End of story.

Fantastic pump.
My application was to draw water from a river. The orientation was horizontal. I asked the company if this application was ok....they said no. I beg to differ, it was amazing, no issues, full pressure probably 90 psi through the garden hoses. Had quotes for thousands of dollars to just water the lawns.......this pump did the job and far exceeded my expectations. would recommend highly. Will get a full season next year.

works good
Well, the box now comes with a note that you need to add a check valve near the motor. The outlet size requires you to purchase a piece from a pump store, in order to connect to drop pipe. I have now used the pump around 20 on cycles, and it is connected to a large storage tank, with a 95' drop. I put a check valve near the tank, in order that the pump is never under pressure on startup, seems to reduce the electrical draw. The motor uses a lot of power on startup, but it seems to run OK on 15 amp breaker. Just make sure you up your wire size between the breaker and the pump. The pump however, has around 14 gauge wire. I'll update next year, once I get back to the summer cottage.

??? Poor material quality
This is supposedly stainless steel pump and made in USA!! It works well but rusted within one month only of being in the tank!

Hallmark Industries MA0414X-7 Deep Well Submersible Pump, 1 hp, 110V, 60 Hz, 33 GPM
The Pump was easy to install and works good. I did see some appears to be rust forming. The only problem with it right now is that I paid 489.00 for the same pump last year and it's half price now. WHAT THE ???? Wish I got it for the new price of 289.00. I pull my water from the lake up a hill 120 feet into a pressure tank then to some filters to feed my cottage with water. No problems so far.
