My well stopped pumping 36 hours again and this saved me thousands
I'm a 32 year old IT System Admin in my career but I enjoy doing trades around the house to save myself money. My well stopped pumping water in central NH at 7am on Friday morning. I tested the power going to my pump, and my pressure switch, and everything showed that it was likely the pump that was broken and nothing else. I've never touched a well, never looked inside one, never done any research on what this takes. I have done plumbing in my house in different parts from sinks, to my pressure tank and adding a in-line filter. I had ordered this specific pump by 12PM and was able to have it one day shipped and it showed up 24 hours later. By the time it showed up I had already pulled up my old pump (~150ft deep) via a pitless adapter that I made at Home Depot. I had to use a pulley from Harbor Freight hung over my ladder to loosen it up because it was really stuck in there. I cut the old one off its PVC tube, replaced the connector to the new pump, wired the electricity, added a new torque suppressor and electrical taped everything. Slowly lowered this back into the well, flipped the breaker and everything worked perfectly. This saved me probably $2,000. My entire total for everything including this pump was under $400, and that includes the $70 pulley that was necessary to not throw my back out, and $70 pitless adapter that I may never use again. If you go to a local hardware store you're looking at $400+ for just the pump by itself. Incredible value, awesome learning experience. Don't pay for someone to do this for you if you're mechanically inclined at all, and have the strength to pull-up a very long PVC pipe with a ~30lbs.

Read the user manual carefully before installation
The pump has been running for 2 week now. So far so good. Pump arrived on time and well packaged. There are numerous warning in the package the need of installing the check valve. The installation manual is easy to follow and very thorough. I followed the manual and perform every test recommended. Check for ground shorting on the electrical cable where it is spliced. I did not use the Sta-Kon connectors provided. I soldered the splice and wrapped it with electrical tapes before covered it in heat sink tube. I did not use the heat sink tube provided because it is too big. Test run the pump to ensure it running. I filled the trash can with water to the brim and drop in the pump. Make sure water is up to the neck of the pump. For me, the most difficult part of the installation is to insert the barbs to the drop pipe. I used the extensive long steel barb which allow me to put three steel clamp on it. At first I used the propane torch to heat the pipe up and try to insert the barb but failed twice because of un-even heating of the pipe. I finally succeeded inserting the barbs when heating the pipe with boiling water. I used a Pex expander to expand the pipe enough to insert the barb initially. Then dipped them into a pot of boiling water for 5 minutes, pull them out then hammering the barb in using the rubber mallet. It took 3 try to complete the insertion. This task required two people. The only complain that I have is the electrical cable of the pump motor. They use a twisted 18 gauges wire. It looks so flimsy. it should be 14 gauges solid wires like the old pump that died after 12 years of usage. I use this well pump for irrigation only. My system have a pressurized tank. Make sure you check the tank pressure and set it accordingly with the pump pressure switch setting. my pump pressure switch is 30-50 psi. So I set the tank baffle pressure at 28 psi. 2 psi below the low value of the pump pressure switch. Once the pump running, make sure to check the pump cycle time. Pump running time must equal pump resting time. If pump ran for 2 minutes to reach the cut off PSI then pump must rest for 2 minutes before restarting. I ended up to set the pump running continuously for 30 minutes for each irrigation zone then resting for 30 minute before starting the next zone. It seem to work well so far. I believed my old pump burn out because its cycle time was off badly. I am happy if this one last for another 5 years . It's only 125 bucks.

Didn't know what to expect with the price, but it's built heavy duty all stainless steel exterior no plastic parts. Pumps really well. Comes with all you need to install.

WOW what a DEAL for the money ...lightweight and powerful !
I have gone thru several pumps over the years both 2 wire and 3 wire and this one beats them all!. First of all my order arrived in just 2 days ..amazing This pump is lighter weight/shorter uses less amperage and has more output than any I have used at 3 times the cost. Mine did not come with a heat shrink/connector kit for the wiring connections as some sellers of other pumps do include this kit. Using the optional supplied riser will require a 5 inch tube clearance verses a 4inch for just the pump. The power wires for this pump are smaller gauge than any I have seen/used but are rated to adequately carry the 5.1 amperage rating of this pump. I have had 1HP pumps that use almost 10 amps so the larger diameter power wires are required/needed in that case. The pump intake screen has smaller diameter holes than any I have used/seen so should allow less debris to be pulled through intake. The 14 foot long power cable is adequate and color coding is standard. ground lead is marked/identified with a metal tab labeled "GROUND" so that their can be no confusion. Noticed that the plastic bag containing the pump had a lot of condensation moisture in/on it but I assume this is the water from quality control testing. I like that the output port of the pump has carbon threads which reduce corrosive welding and deterioration of connective fittings. I was attracted by the *Industrial grade heavy duty, also good for home usage* statement as this appears to speak of a high standard to work performance. Wish this pump had a 3 year warranty verses a one year but at this price what can I say. I like that the company is located in the USA for warranty returns as warranties from other companies require that you pay shipping to Canada and other areas outside the USA This also concerned me when it comes to warranties on other brands. I found these and other such reviews on other brands sold on amazon.. and noticed the companies mentioned in the 2 reviews never responded. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Most Helpful Customer Reviews 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful Why I did NOT buy this pump. Flotec told me that they would not honor any warranty on the pump if I bought it from Amazon. I checked with Amazon and they confirmed, no warranty of any kind. So I went with Red Lion. The parent company of Red Lion (Franklin Electric) told me that they do honor warranties on Red Lion EVEN IF I bought a pump from Amazon. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful well pump By Rae on September 12, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase First one didn't work so Amazon replaced it, second one quit after two and a half months which is beyond Amazons 30 days so called Flotec who said that since I bought it through Amazon they weren't required to and wouldn't honor their warrenty. Amazon refunded me 80% of the purchase price. Go Amazon, I bought a new pump a home supply store, but not a Flotec, I'm not overly fond of them at this point. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Now only time will tell how well it lasts to heavy everyday demand. will provide periodic updates. Bottom line.....WHAT A DEAL! addition info The capacity of the pump is determined by the width of the impeller vanes and its pressure by the number of impellers. As an example, a ½ horsepower 7-stage pump may deliver a high volume of water at a low pressure while a ½ horsepower 14-stage pump will deliver a lower volume but at a greater pressure. Like all other centrifugal pumps, an increase in well depth or discharge pressure will reduce the capacity.

ABSOLUTE JUNK
I bought this as a spare and put it in use in August 2020. It didn't last a year and Hallmark only warrants their pumps for 90 days. Quality manufacturers offer 36 month warranties. Lesson learned as it costs more to remove and install a pump than any savings one might have anticipated. Being a 'be prepared' kind of guy, I also bought a spare that didn't last 24 hours. As it had sat in the box for over 90 days, I will get absolutely nothing for that one too.

2nd review, January 2022 pump still working great, touching wood. not impressed with the 18awg wire when the wire that came from my old pump was 10awg.. not the same quality as a Franklin. For the price in a desperate situation, am satisfied. It states UL in the ad, it does not have any marking on it as UL that is not good..

Precio y se ve que es buena calidad Funcionó muy bien en un sistema hidroneumatico para 18 wc con fluxometro además de otras salidas Aunque la compré en junio la instalé en septiembre y ayer la sacaron del tinaco y trae varias partes que no son inoxidables Lo malo es que compré otra igual en noviembre Aún no contacto al vendedor para ver que procede y no se si esto afecte el funcionamiento a futuro

Funciona bien.
Me gusta que no requiere caja de control, y la instale con un interruptor de flotador en un pozo de 30Mts. Recomiendan probarlo primero antes de instalarlo, pero directamente lo instalé y no dio ningún problema. Me gusto que es de 220v, lo que lo hace más eficiente. Es bastante mas largo y pesado que la sumergible de 1/2 hp que se reemplazó.

Did not last for me…
I bought 2x of the pumps and installed one in January 2020. Used it mostly in 2020 pumping 4000 litres a week. In 2021 and up to July 2022 it was used occasionally because no one lived on the property continuously. The pump stopped working in July 2022 and the second one has been installed in September 2022 and pumped another 4000 litres. I’m not sure if it can be fixed.
