Sealing an old wood front door

Had previously purchased this at a local big box store. Went to get more, only to hear they no longer carried it. This strip works perfectly for sealing the perimeter of the door frame.

M-D Building Products 3541 M-D 0 V-Flex Weather-Strip does the job.

I like this strip. It should be sold in 50 yard rolls. I reduced the stars for adhesion because it just isn't sticky enough. But I've found that a few smacks with an office stapler and you can forget the adhesion unless you are working with aluminum. Not sure what you'd do in that case. Maybe liquid nails or something like that?

Pretty good, weatherproofing not as good as I had hoped

I bought this for two doors that needed weatherstripping, but thicker weatherstripping options were to big for the gap between the door and the frame. This weatherstripping was thin enough to fit. Unfortunately, the material is a bit too flexible, and ripples along its length so there are spaces where air can get through. It’s better than nothing, but I think I’ll be looking for a better solution to replace this.

Not a good as the original 3M product

The material is thinner than the original 3M product. The crease down the center is not quite as defined as the original. The adhesive tape seems OK.

This weatherstripping has worked wonderfully to seal the edges of my drafty front door

This weatherstripping has worked wonderfully to seal the edges of my drafty front door. And despite the door being repeatedly opened and closed throughout each day, it has stayed attached to my door frame quite nicely. I've read reviews of other v-stripping insulation in which some buyers said those products wouldn't stick very well, but I haven't had that problem with this product at all. Since my door frame wasn't particularly dirty, I just dry-wiped the frame before I applied it. The tape was easy to cut with standard scissors after I measured and determined how much I needed. It was very tightly curled when pulled straight from the package; I didn't know if that would affect how well the stripping would stick, so I played it safe by hanging the strips I cut overnight and letting gravity straighten them out for the most part. Then I applied them to my door frame the next day. I would definitely recommend this product to others. *** UPDATE, 2/20/17 *** While browsing through my account, I stumbled across this review again, so I thought I'd give an update. Despite my door being opened and closed numerous times per day, the weatherstripping is still adhering to my door very nicely. I remain very pleased with it. *** UPDATE, 3/11/19 *** Still holding up just fine!

Weather or not . . .

M-D Building Products 3/8" V-Flex Weatherstrip This product is easy to install. Some tips: clean the surface well and make sure it is dry before installing; measure well and pre-fit the weatherstrip before installing--the adhesive is strong and once in place is both hard to remove and does not stick as well the second time; leave the protective tape on the weatherstrip while measuring and bending--it makes handling a lot easier. Time will tell how long it lasts; the initial seal is quite good. Brown is only color for 3/8" weatherstrip; I would have preferred white

Perfect

I only buy products with high ratings, I read almost all of them even questions, but yet I'm so darn lazy to leave them but when I do, you can rest assured, I believe in the product. After fiddling around in 8 degree weather with huge new leaks in the doors, I used some stored weather stripping, various sizes but all the stick stuff with one dimension out away from the jam, even the good stuff slipped and peeled off after just a day. I laid down the case for this and noticed this whole clean the area thing, which I did as much as wipe a paper towel across the surface, but all leaking doorways, one front, back and garage were totally sealed with this stuff, by the way keep in mind the v of the folder strip goes toward the furthest back point of the join, just say to yourself, v to the wood, and u to me. The strip should be perpendicular to you and the door when it swings shut creating a perfect nylon flap in between the jamb and the door.

It's a plastic strip. It does the plastic part just fine, but (much to my wife's contentment) it doesn't strip.

Not worth the money

Product is very poorly made, cheap material, splits open on crease line, doesn’t stick no matter how clean the surface it is being applied to. I bought this product years ago from a hardware store and it is still working, it was much thicker and better adhesive. I don’t recommend anyone buy this.
