I've had my Maytag PAV2300AWW washing machine for ten years now. The first pump, model 35-6465, lasted six years, and the pump started making noise a year before that. The noise sounds like a belt slipping at first, just a little bit, then it gets louder and the duration is longer and longer. Finally, one day, the noise was extremely loud and bam, the bearing in the pump actually failed and locked up the machine. I went to the local parts store in my area to get a new pump. They had another model 35-6465, and also a manufacturer replacement model 35-6780. The 35-6780 looked so different without the mounting plate, so I bought the 35-6465, it was also about $20 cheaper at $68. Well, four years later, I started hearing that pump start squealing, just like the first pump. I decided I wasn't going to wait for another locked up bearing again. Thinking maybe the model 35-6780 might have a better bearing in it, since it was more expensive, I ordered the 35-6780 from PriceleSSSupply at $49 with shipping. Well, I did not receive the 35-6780, but I did receive another 35-6465. I wrote PriceleSSSupply a letter, explaining the error, and they wrote a letter back stating that both pumps are interchangeable, and they would be glad to swap the pump out. I decided to keep the one I have, but if you really want the model 35-6780, then I would write to the suppler before ordering, and make sure you get exactly what you want. My washing machine is quiet once again. These are original equipment pumps, so they are expensive, and they are made in USA. Though the one I replaced says assembled in USA. There are other pumps out there that are running at really cheap prices like $14. Do they last as long? I don't know. From the reviews, some are failing fairly quickly. The pumps are fairly easy to replace, and you can check out Youtube to see how to do it. Good luck. Update February 18th, 2015. My latest pump started a slight squealing noise again, and since the price had dropped on this site, I decide to purchase another 35-6465. Since that's what I received the last time, I came here again. They sent me an after market part and the intake nozzle was to low to even fit in my machine. I returned it, and decided that I could buy my own after market parts for much cheaper. I bought one for $22 on Amazon from different vendor. I also bought a new hose that fits from the pump to tub, as the original was so brittle, that you could stick your finger through it. I hope I can get another two years out of my after market pump.
