This stove puts out high heat

I was frustrated by anemic backpack stoves when I'm camping near my vehicle and stove weight isn't a concern. Boiling water for breakfast coffee needs to be immediate and this stove delivers. It only takes a couple minutes until you can sip (instant) coffee. I recommend a kettle or pan size with a minimum diameter of 8". My only recommendation is that this stove would somehow accommodate leveling in campsite environment. Cooking in a pan where the oil is only on one side is disappointing. The stove's legs don't need to be completely inserted into the base, so this offers some adjustment. A level located on two sides would improve leveling using partial leg insertion. Anyway, I am happy with my purchase.

Perfect for amazing Stir Fry

They say you really need some serious BTUs for a good stir fry. Before we tried this I wasn't convinced. Now I'm convinced. After doing literally hundreds of stir-fry meals on a residential gas range, we could never get the vegetables right (hot but still crunchy), they always cooked too slow and became limp -- more like boiled than like stir-fried. Now we get perfectly stir-fried vegetables that are even still crispy and fresh-cooked tasting as leftovers after several days in the refrigerator -- just like the best take-out Chinese food!

Great burner!

We have used it couple of times to cook outside and we are very happy that we purchased it. I have not extended the legs in the picture because that height worked perfect for us. It is stable and give you plenty of heat to deep fry your food.

QUALITY plus

This unit has a very high quality burner. The flame/ air ratio port was easy to adjust. The burners is heavy cast (hence the mediocre lightweight star I gave it), it has double rows of gas outlets on the burner which minimizes blow out outside in the wind. Cast iron is subject to oxidation so keep the burner stored out of the rain and snow or at least cover it over when not in use so it will not rust. I appreciate the leg extensions so I don't have to bend over so much while cooking! You will not find this quality on sale at your local box stores.
