WAY bigger that I thought

It's very large.

Hefty mortar at a reasonable price.

I keep dropping and breaking these mortars made for the mortar and pestle combination. It's convenient to be able to buy just the mortar when one breaks. I also like the larger size which allows more force due to weight and better control.

great replacement

I have had a Thai granite mortar for over 5 years but have on more than 3 occasions dropped the pestle and it broke in halve each time. I can use the bottom of the broken pestle and they work very well. I do like have a whole pestle and this is a perfect replacement for a broken pestle. This is a high quality Thai granite pestle. I would gladly purchase it again.
