Great bed, dog loves it but the matress protection is wasted by a cheap unusable zipper.

So I had bought a bed similar but smaller bed at Costco in the US that ended up losing firmness in the main body and got kinda flat. My dog still likes that bed but this seemed to be a better one. This one is deffinately thicker, sturdier, and larger than the Costco bed I have and I was/am very pleased with its quality. It came vaccum sealed and reformed almost instantly out of the plastic bag. I can tell that the firmness is going to last because my 90lb Shar-pei mix hardly makes a dent when she lays on it. That made me worry it was gonna be too firm because Nava is so spoiled she thinks carpet isn't soft enough and must have some form of cushiony blanket to lay on in most cases. Apparently I worried for naught, she loves this new bed and for the past week+ she has layed on it almost exclusively, she still prefers to eat snacks on the old bed, but that could be a training thing. I taught her to go to her "Kennel" when training her from a pup and continued to use the word "Kennel" when I want her to lay on her bed that replaced her "Kennel". I will admit that I layed a blanket over the new bed simply because it was "her" blanket but I didnt bunch it up, I just used it to get her to know that was her bed now. I could probably remove the thin blanket now but decided to leave it because of the one thing I was annoyed with this bed. The water-proof matress cover. I was very disappointed in that. 1st it was NOT on the matress, it came seperately in a plastic bag inside the box. That required me to 1st remove the entire outer cover which was not too difficult, but wow was I annoyed from that point on. If anyone has ever tried to force an oversized sturdy piece of foam into a cover that is made to fit an exact dimension then you know what happened next. Insane amounts of shoving, squishing, cursing, sweating, and extreme an utter frustration since at least in my case the foam was a tad to big and did not fit. This wouldnt have been as much of an issue had the case had anything that resembled a quality zipper on it. No this zipper busted at the seams the second I tried zipping it closed. Even after squishing it down so there was zero tension, as soon as I let go and the matress foam expanded, the zipped area split right open making the zipper useless. I tried rezipping and getting the teeth to reset but it was just an utter waste of time. Then I had to remove the protection cover since I couldnt zip it closed and proceed to go through the same process to put it back into the outside cover which thankfully has a slightly better quality zipper. I bought this bed believing it would be much easier to clean because of the waterproof matress cover, on the rare accident its nice to have that accident NOT seep down into the matress foam. I know from experience on my actual memory foam matress which has a protection cover how much they actually protect when Nava got sick and puked all over my bed and not a single drop got through to my matress. I was expecting this same result for Nava's bed since it was advertised that way. If the zipper been better quality and had the strength to hold that foam expanding against it then it would have been amazing. To the makers of this dog bed, I was disapointed enough when I realized the protection cover had to be installed myself but then that poor decision to use a cheap zipper makes this bed go from 5 star Amazing to 4 Star Good because as all pet owners know at some point there will be something that will end up on this bed and I will not know how clean I can get it until after that happens. If the foam gets ruined by smells etc.. the bed becomes useless and if that happens, instead of trusting your brand, I will have to look elsewhere. Hopefully I get a year+ at least before that happens since this was not a cheap costing pet bed. In closing, I am fine with the bed, dog really likes it, but at this cost I will not buy again if needed unless I am assured the zipper on the matress protector is fixed. I also would appreciate being sent a replacement of a working cover if mine was just a fluke, to which I would happily add a star and change my review accordingly!

Quality control questionable, but dog is satisfied

We've had this bed for nearly a year, now. Purchased XXL for a large dog (90–100+ lbs). Dog is 100% satisfied with the bed. Providing such a thick, comfortable bed effectively put an end to the dog's pestering behavior— he no longer demands to be allowed onto human furniture. I hemmed and hawed over bed size, wanting to provide the dog with a full-sized flat area to lay on. With an XXL, the pillow lump reduces the available flat space to less-than-perfect proportion for my big pup. However, considering our limited floor space, I settled on the XXL, after all. Eventually the dog learned how to use the bed correctly (haha!), and doesn't seem to suffer for lack of flat space; he seems to enjoy both stretching out full-length while resting his head on the pillow, and curling up beside the pillow. The humans were a bit disappointed with the product, though, and have some recommendations. The bed we received had stiff and discolored foam on the pillow portion that— to our knowledge— may never have fully expanded. (After giving it double the recommended time to resume shape out of the package, we gave up on waiting and placed the bed in its liners.) The waterproof liner came with a substantial tear in it; the plastic wrapper it traveled in was unscathed, so it's clear the liner was damaged prior to shipping/receiving. The zipper on the velvety bed cover immediately disintegrated as soon as we gave it the slightest tug to close. With a bit of teamwork we were still able to zip the cover closed, but considering the extra trouble that'll cause we've yet to remove the velvet cover to wash it. Instead, we cover the dog bed with fitted sheets meant for crib mattresses, and regularly change/ launder those sheets, which is far more convenient than the zip cover, anyway. I recommend using fitted sheets made of jersey-knit, which stretch nicely and hold their position over the pillow lump. If I were the manufacturer of this bed, I'd want to expand my product line and offer sets of fitted sheets designed to work with the beds. One other product improvement I would recommend is the addition of handle straps— a pair on each of the long sides of the cover. We live in a small house, so the dog bed needs to serve double-duty as a day/evening sofa in the living room, then as a night bed in the bedroom upstairs. Some simple straps on the side of the bed would make it a heck of a lot easier to shuttle the bed from one spot to another, as its large size makes it a tad cumbersome to carry (while attempting to minimize contact with the surface of the bed itself).

Great bed for any dog

We have bought multiple beds for our dog and none of them lasted very long, some were chewed up and others just simply ignored and never used by our pup until we bought this one and our dog absolutely loves it and now a year later we are getting another one and we ofcourse bought one more. I've seen reviews about the bed coming flat or the zipper breaking but in our experience the bed needs time to expand after shipping, it even say so in the instructions and with zipper as long you don't pull it very hard it works as intended we have washed the bed multiple times already and it's still in perfect condition. The waterproof lining was a little tough to put on just cause it was tight but we haven't had to take it on or off as our dog has never had an accident on it so I'm not sure if that would be a hassle to deal with.

XL more than big enough for a Golden.

I liked that the dogs used them the second I put them on the floor. Previously had the Costco round beds which are more economical, but found those beds hard to flatten after washing the covers. Time will tell how durable these beds are, and how they stand up to a cover washing. Felt good that the dog actually used the pillow, awwww Have had for about a month and the stitching is coming apart where the bed meets the pillow part! These will not last long !

Bought 3 - 2 didn’t inflate :(

UPDATE: I received the replacement foam inserts today and they puffed up perfectly. I am happy to say that I have upgraded my review to a 4 star. I won’t go to five because of all the delays in getting the replacements, but am now very happy with my purchase! Old review: I ordered 2 of these and my daughter ordered 1 for our 3 German Shepherds. One puffed up nicely except for 1 corner so we just placed the cover’s headrest corner over that and it worked fine. The other 2 foam inserts would not inflate and we’re all squished. We tried steaming them as one person was recommended to do by the company but to no avail after MANY Hours of trying. We contacted the company and sent pictures (see attached) and were told that they would send us new inserts. We waited but received nothing. Tried contacting them again by email (same person who said they would be happy to make things right!) and no response. These animal beds are very expensive. The company should back up their product. We will continue to try and get the replacement inserts and update this review if necessary, however we are VERY DISSATISFIED at this point. One of my Shepherds has hip displacement and is waiting for an operation. This bed was to help relieve her pain while waiting for that. Now I have to watch her suffer :(

THIS MY THIRD FURHAVEN DOGBED AND NOT VERY HAPPY WITH THE QUALITY OR WHERE IS WAS LOCATED

WHEN IT ARRIVED I TRIED TO WASH IT. TO MY SURPRISE THE ORTHOPEDIC FOAM WAS DISCOLORED. HAD A ORANGE MARK ON THE ONE SIDE. LOOKED LIKE IT WAS UP AGAINST A HEATER? MY HUSBAND SAID THAT MAYBE AT SOME POINT IT HAD WATER DAMAGE? ANYWAYS I ALREADY SENT TWO DOG BEDS BACK SO I THOUGHT I WOULD TOUGH IT OUT. AFTER A WEEK, THE TOP COVER MATERIAL OF THE BED WAS ALWAYS COMING OUT. the COVER WAS GOING ON THE FLOOR AND BEING TRACKED IN ON OUR SOCKS. I AM HOPING THAT THE 2ND WASH WILL HELP.

Foam is disappointing

The bed is comfortable enough but the quality of the foam is disappointing (the colour of the cover was wrong). Also after couple of weeks I took the cover off to wash it and it was partially yellow??? I am not happy with how much it cost and the product I received.

Seems durable, I have two pibbles whom like to destroy things either accidentally or out of boredom. So far these are in one piece and have sustained the pibble bed scratching routine every night
