Works, with some creativity
<><><><><> Update<><><><><>< I've upgraded my review. My first review was based on my myopic vision on how it should be used. I saw the need to immerse the whole tortilla in oil, as the angle of the handle only allows one side to sit in a shallow pan with a little oil. Rather than flipping the tool I discovered I could flip the tortilla, within the "mold", instead. I was able to fry both sides, successfully, without using excessive oil. Lack of instructions (and my myopic view of its use) are to blame for my confusion. In the new image one can see the difference between the "hand" fried and the "mold" fried taco shells. Big difference. So after consideration and experience I would buy this again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Interesting, though flawed, design, IMO. The description claims it can be used in a skillet, thereby not requiring a taller pot and quite a bit of oil. The design allows skillet use on one (left) side. But due to the way the handle bends it does not allow the other (right) side to be placed flat into the oil in the skillet (see images*). I was initially glad I found this, as I really like crispy tacos. But was sad it wouldn't work in my skillet. I imagine it works great with enough oil to submerge the press. If I used frying oil, a lot, this would be a good utensil. For occasional use,I feel, it is not so useful. * the image with the tong handle to the left does not sit flat on the bottom of the skillet. It's hard to see but the trailing edge (toward handle) does not sit flat, while the leading edge touched the skillet. Overall it appears to be a reasonably built, stamped-out kitchen utensil.

Best way to make homemade taco shells
I usually don't give this much detailed information on how to use a product but this shell maker can be your best cooking experience you ever had or the absolute worst if you do it wrong...I did both and as long as you know when to stop using you will enjoy this product. I love my shell maker...I've stood over the stove making shells the old fashioned way for so long...I got my first one and I loved it so much I bought a second one to be able to make shells faster. At 325 to 350 it take about a 45 seconds to a minute to make a shell...so with 2 you can make 30 crunchy shells in about 20 minutes easy to clean and not awkward size so it stores easily...now the CONS OF THE MAKER...I noticed if to go over 350 degrees when you put the tortillas in the will inflate and the taco shell maker will open up...on top of that the oil will start to splatter whenever you put a tortilla in...and not little splatter big if it gets on you it will do more than hurt...that's just my experience with it just keep in mind to do a test run with amount of oil you use...I can see where using to little oil could be a problem but using to much oil can be a bigger problem. So use wisely...I use a 6 qt 10 inch pot with just a little over the half way mark...BUT MAKE SURE YOU DO A COUPLE OF TEST SHELLS TO MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT OVERFLOW THE POT. Sometimes the shell will not let the maker open not to worry I use a butter knife inset between where the bend of the taco shell maker goes into the actual were the shell goes and give it a gental twist and it will open up...not to worry you are going to need something to remove the shells from the maker anyway keep in mind it just came out of 350 degree oil so you are not going to be able to handle by hand.

MUST BUY
I am so happy that I found these and bought them. I make tacos with fried shells all the time and it was such a pain before. I would have to use tongs to hold one side and then try to flip to the other and keep space in the middle. These are so easy to use. I am just upset that I didn't them sooner. They definitely make my life easier and tacos are faster at my house now. Lol

We loved this
Saves time from standing there frying it on the pan, I just threw it in the fryer. We aren't a fan of boxed shells, and like I said, they take a lot of time on the pan and this really cut down on cooking time. I would definitely recommend

DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED
The pictures show too use in a skillet. This item can not be used in a skillet due to its configuration. It's made to use in a deep fryer not a skillet. I had to use a deep pot because I don't have a deep fryer. It did work in a deep pot but I had to use way more oil than I wanted to use. I am returning this item.

Works great
Works exactly as indicated. Good quality. We used it to fry wonton wrappers, was a little time consuming doing it one at a time but was way better than trying to get them to hold their shape using regular tongs when frying
