Easy install

I bought and installed one about 5 years ago. It started beeping alerting me the battery life was about to end although it was said to have a 10 year battery life. I'm hard of hearing high pitch sounds which this alarm has and was mounted in the center of the house. I could not hear the beeping noise from my bedroom so I bought 3 more and installed 1 outside my bedroom door and the others through out the house. I write on the alarm the date I installed it.

Only photoelectric

Replaced a dual action alarm(ionization plus photoelectric) that kept going off in the kitchen when meat was being cooked. This one is perfect.

easy install.

replaced the same model with this one. the previous one did not even get close to the advertised battery life. i was too lazy to order a new one and put a new base with new holes in wall. so ordered same model and place on wall.

Reliable, easy-to-install alarm without regular battery changes

This Lithium-Ion powered alarm was easy to install (to be transparent, in my case the previous owner did the install of the ceiling mounted match plate, so I just had to click the replacement into place when the old one ran out of its service life). With a 10-year service life, I like the thought that I do not have to regularly check that a 9V or AAA/AA battery powered battery is still sufficiently charged, or worry that in the middle of the night I'll be woken up by chirps asking for a replacement (been there, done that many times). The alarm nicely indicated when it was snapped into its ceiling mount and was easy to test to ensure it was in good, working order with the push of a button. A flashing red light indicated it was all set to be in use. I will continue to replace this one every 10 years (assuming compatibility continues!) so I don't have to do the old rigamarole with battery replacements as I've done in other detectors.

Replaced an older toss model

This smoke detector is a use and toss model. Battery is not replaceable. I bought it since it fits the mounting base plate from the older model that was in the house I bought.

"10 years" was 3

Bought this as an identical replacement for one manufactured Dec 2018, installed late 2019, that started going off repeatedly for (completely verified) no reason. Even gently blew out the unit with a dust can, since dust can trigger the PE sensor. No good. Maybe ten years is too much to ask, but 3 is... not a lot more than a regular detector with a high-quality 9V battery, and at significantly lower cost. The orignal's twin is still working just fine, though, so I bought a replacement (that snapped right into the existing base) instead of a different model.
