Patio Use
The range and spread of the heat dissipation was not in the Ad detail. It is less than I anticipated, and directional. I use it on and enclosed LANI over the holidays and people were able to sit out on there and enjoy the atmosphere and be comfortable. I am well satisfied with this product. It is more economical than a 20LB. bottle of propane that would last about 20 hrs. or a $/hr not to mention the hassle.

Few years before they burned out the guts inside
Replacement bulbs are available and kinda costly

good heat. bright light.
Purchased for my mother's balcony. The product does put out nice heat, but I'd say it puts out more light than heat. It's pretty bright. It's cool that it is not affected by wind. We hired an electrician to run and independent line to the breaker box to handle the wattage so we don't have to worry about overloading the fuse.

Great for my workshop
I bought this for my unheated garage a couple of years ago. Propane was out...a friend of mine uses one and it covers everything in his garage with water condensation. I didn't want to worry about kerosene. So I mounted in on the wall over my workbench aiming down on my work area. In cool days down to about the 40s it makes the immediate area very habitable and extends out about 10 feet. When it gets REALLY cold out 0-30F it really can't do much, but that's not what it's made for. No on/off switch so I simply plug/unplug it.Two on either end pointing down would probably be the best idea but this is just fine for me. No problems.

On a Covered Porch
This was as described and does put out heat. Not quite as much as I had hoped for and it is not easy to turn on and off. I have to climb a stepladder. I'll eventually figure out another way to plug it in. But this is something to consider.

Anemic heat as an outdoor heater - No on/off switch or thermostat
This is a adequately designed unit for outdoor use, but puts out a lot more light than heat. I bought this to use on my screened in patio. It is mounted above the sliding door, pointed at my spa. My hope was that it would provide enough heat that one could stand under it while drying off from the spa during chilly weather, but it just doesn't put out that much heat. My propane patio heater is far more effective, if something of a bother to light. I didn't expect it to heat an area - just people standing under it for 5 minutes or so.... disappointing that it can't even do that. I have two other issues: 1) It makes the entire room glow bright orange - this puts out a lot more visible light than I expected from an "infrared" heater (you could read by it!) 2) There is no provising for a switch on the heater or with the cord. You must turn it on or off by plugging it in. There is also no thermostat or timer - together these reresent significnat shortcomings for a heater of this type. I would recommend looking at other options for spot heating. This is worth a try if it looks like it will meet your needs, but be aware of its limitations. Keep in mind that it must be installed in a sheltered enviornment - it shouldn't be exposed to rain or snow.

Lots of heat for very large bathroom
Excellent product. Well made. It quickly creates lots of heat for my very large bathroom. Need to mount high because you don't want to get too close. Update: After 14 months of lite use the bulb went out, and the product only has a 1 year warranty. I emailed Well Traveled Living (from the supplied warranty info) and with no hassle they sent a new one for free! (A replacement bulbs is $65). Great heater and great customer service.

Bad Purchase. Bulb lasted less than a year - cust serv # not in service
We have a small, almost entirely enclosed brick porch 10'W x 8'D x 8'H and I spent a while searching for a heating solution so we could use it year-round. We are located in Toronto, Canada. (If you are in the US, our climate is most comparable to Boston - Winter avg day temp is about 30 - 32F, a little colder in January). I have an electric fireplace but the forced air heat just escapes outside. After a lot of research and one season of use, the heater works pretty well. the limitations are that it is fairly directional. If you are sitting right under it you can get very warm - even too warm after a short while. Off to the sides it tapers off. Also, as another reviewer stated, it puts out A LOT of light, much more than I expected. It is too bright to look at but it was easy to mount and it is easy to change the aim. It warms people and objects and not the air, so I thought if I ran it for an hour the brick and interlocking stone on the patio floor would start giving off radiant heat, but as far as I can tell the stones stay cold. Due to the power cost, I have never left it on more than an hour. The important thing is that six of us can sit outside comfortably in sweaters pretty much all winter so it does what I bought it for. Even though it is rated to 1900 watts it has for some reason never tripped the 15Amp breaker, although the heater is almost the only thing on that circuit. I am going to install a switched outlet in the patio area so I can switch it on and off from inside the house without having to plug it in and unplug it. If I had a larger or more open are to heat I would buy two of them. If it was't for the light output and the narrow-ish heat focus, I would give it five stars.

Excellent product
I own several of these. They perform as good as other electric heater of similar power. Easy install, wall hangout without any post is great. Be aware that if you need more heat, you will need several or switch to gas...
