Surprisingly well built
When I took everything out of the box I was surprised by the quality of the materials - no cheap looking or plastic parts. To assemble it I used a 10mm socket and wrench, a 19mm socket, and a Philips screwdriver. I used the 10mm socket to tighten all the screws except for the screw at the top of gooseneck that connected to the lamp. I had to use the wrench to tighten that screw. I found it best to start all the screws to make sure the screws were all aligned before tightening them. I used the 19mm socket to tighten base screw. After assembly the heater and stand are solid and not wobbly. When I plugged it in I was impressed with the heat output from the lamp. However, I haven't yet tried the lamp in cold weather.

Big hit on my patio
I assembled this yesterday and used it for a BBQ on my patio. I looked at a bunch online before choosing this one. This process was pretty confusing because as it turns out, Fire Sense is the same as Mojave Sun and they're all brands of Well Traveled Living, so what you think are a lot of options turn out not to really be the case. There are widely varying prices at various retailers, but since many seem to be the same product, I bought it off Amazon for substantially less. My criteria were: a) infrared electric vs propane - propane may be warmer but I definitely would rather not have to buy and carry heavy canisters. I was concerned about a ton of negative reviews about whether these electric heaters were warm enough or how much of a radius they offer, but after reading up about how they work, I felt comfortable with the warmth issue. This heats you vs the air around you, so you can't just turn on the heat lamp and then walk into the space expecting to feel that the air itself is warmer, but if you're sitting right beneath it, you will definitely feel the warmth. My friends were very comfortable sitting on the sofa with this pointed at them, despite it being somewhat windy and chilly outside. However, the radius issue is a real one - since it's not warming the air, it really only heats up what is in front of it. The product says a 9' radius but I haven't fully tested this yet. My guess is this is better for use cases where you are heating up a dining table or set of lounge chairs and can direct the heat towards a focal point, vs a roaming cocktail party. I am also fine buying a second lamp if necessary - again eliminating the need to buy propane canisters was a big motivator. b) I definitely wanted one that had a telescoping pole vs a regular unadjustable one. c) I also wanted to be able to move the heating element to different angles, which this one allows. d) Wheels on the base were critical (although I don't know if there are any that don't have that) e) ideally I would have gotten one that was weatherproof entirely without any need for a cover - this one has a weatherproof pole, but the heating element itself needs to be covered. But that cost an extra 30+% and it didn't seem like a big deal to put a cover on (included). f) I decided on a heater on a pole vs the mounted ones (which are cheaper), only because of the angle that I would have to mount it at. The heating element does turn quite red, which is fine if it's above you, and probably not great if it's right in your line of sight. I did see in some reviews that at 1500w this really needs a dedicated circuit breaker, so I was definitely nervous about that. So far so good - although this does make me wonder if I really can get a 2nd one since I doubt my patio is wired for different circuits. It took about an hour for me to assemble this (I am not at all handy). First, it's super heavy and a bit awkward to assemble on your own. But I was able to figure out the instructions. You do need a large wrench and a couple of screwdrivers. The holes are not all drilled for easy fit so I definitely ran into some trouble on a couple of the steps trying to get the screws to fit - but after a bunch of maneuvering I made it work. Very happy so far with the product.

Great, we’ll made, BRIGHT heater
This heater does everything it’s supposed to… the well-made components are reasonably easy to assemble and it produces a meaningful amount of heat when on. My only gripe is, along with the infrared heat-heat it produces, it also produces quite a bit of visible red light… the photo attached is taken from behind the unit (it’s in the foreground) at night. It’s like having a red heat lamp from an early 80’s bathroom on. Not the end of the world but if you’re outside wanting to enjoy the evening without extra dark red light it’s a bit distracting.

Bought two, only one works
We bought two of these heaters. One works and the other one worked for a minute, then stopped working. It is not a quick easy assembly, so we will have to assemble another one when the new replacement one arrives. We've had strong winds and it seems to hold up to wind well. Three stars is because one works fine and the other one did not.

A nice way to warm up
Very sturdy, raises ambient temperature about 15 degrees Farneheit, well built, as it is built for th outdoors the wind will not disturb it or knock it over (barring a hurricane) I had my last one for over 10 years The newer model allows easy replacement of the head assembly unit at a fraction oof the entire unit coast so one model can now last forever

Some assembly issues but very nice heater.
I never write reviews but reviews are what helped me to select this product. I was skeptical buying an electric heater being I was planning on using it on my porch for chilly fall days. I like the fact though that I would not have to replace propane tanks. I gave an over all rating of 4 because it was less than easy to assemble. The biggest problem I had was the connection between the head and the lower connection to the power cord. I finally took it apart enough to get it out of the support tube and used needle nose plyers to pinch the male and female connection together. Also one of the grommets to the tilt controller had worked lose needing re installing. Other than that I have it together now and it definitely throws out a significant amount of heat. It is very well built and has a very sturdy base to prevent falling over. I would buy this again.

Mom LOVED it...until it died...but WTLiving stepped up replacemed the bulb and that fixed it
I bought this item for my Mom for Christmas so she could sit outside in the early evening and enjoy a glass of wine without getting chilled. GREAT idea...HORRIBLE product. My friends have one of these branded as Mojave Sun and they swear by it so I thought I was going to really hit a home run with this. Large propane tanks are just to heavy and cumbersome for Mom anymore so this looked like a great option. Regrettably during the second use my Mom was sitting there thinking how great a gift this was when it suddenly stopped working. Completely Dead. I drove across town and figured it was just a blown breaker or maybe a tripped GFI. Nope. Dead heater. Damn. But OK...it's brand new and I bought the 4 year extended protection warranty, wont be a problem to resolve the issue quickly. UPDATE: WTLiving is the manufacturer and once they became aware of my situation they expedited me a replacement bulb which I installed and Mom is once again able to use and enjoy her Christmas Present. It was frustrating for a few days getting a hold of them but as it was explained they are working hard to ship orders this time of year so they apologized for the difficulty in reaching them and they solved the problem. That's is good support.
