Great price + Effective/Accurate little Thermometer
We just got a bearded dragon and have been upgrading our outfit to make his home a safe and comfy one. I got a couple of these - one to put on the cool side of the tank since we already had one by the basking section - and a spare. I tested these new ones out in the hottest point - right under the mercury vapor UVB basking lamp - and the dials went to 110 degrees matching the other thermometer we had already. Then I brought them out to two places in the house where we have thermometers that always have different readings. I let them settle in these two places and the temperature readings reflected the same numbers as these two other thermometers. After that I considered them good enough for my needs. I popped the one on the cool side of the tank where it reads a pretty consistent 80 degrees and dropped the other in the pet drawer for emergencies or our next set up. I was so pleased I also ordered a couple more to have on hand in case. I would rather be safe than sorry and these are such a good price it doesn't hurt to have a couple - just like an extra basking bulb and ceramic heat bulb. Pros: Price: $3.99 is dirt cheap. You cannot eat McDonalds for $3.99. Accuracy: Mine both are quite accurate as mentioned above. Functionality: The sticker works fine. Make sure you clean the side of your tank with a swipe of alcohol and let it dry before you affix the sticker. (Obviously be cautious around your animal - don't let them breathe the fumes!) Cons: The sticker is inferior to the velcro on my other thermometer. If and when I remove this I am guessing that I will have to razor blade off the sticker and when I do I plan to replace it with a sticky velcro dot. Easier to remove that and you can take off the meter as needed for cleaning, testing, replacement, etc. Still this is $3.99. I cannot complain about the sticker as things stand. Bottom Line: Be smart. Test your unit(s) out carefully. But honestly I would do that with ANY equipment no matter the cost. And again, the cost on this is fantastic. With the meter being accurate as a dial meter can be, it is well suited to my needs and I recommend you give it a shot. At worst case you can mail it back to Amazon free if it is broken. Hurray Amazon Prime!

Great item, good features for no frills price
lightweight and seems pretty accurate. I bought 3 of these to help me gauge the temp in the bedrooms when the central forced air heat is on. I bought the matching hygrometers with them so I will make a little mount on the wall, kind of like a analog weather/room station. All three were identical in their result so that's a plus for consistency. PROS: - lightweight but sturdy enough - easy to read gauge - comes with mounting tape - has small channels in back for the air to reach the hole - I like the color code, great for quick glancing Cons: - depends on the price you get it for. Excellent if you get it for about the 5 range...I've seen these online and in store for almost double that. Depending on your application, you can get fancier at that higher price. - bigger diameter than some of the other designs but this is not a deal breaker in my view. The plus is you can see what the gauge says without binoculars or a mag glass....not good if you looking for a low profile. Again, I used this for a different purpose and was surprised at how well it worked for me.

While handy to have, not practical for keeping accurate readings
These things didn't stay up more than a few weeks before falling off my tank wall (cleaned and dry before applied) and after getting a thermal heat gun it was clear these guys didn't give me any kind of accurate reading. Maybe for some tanks a general measure is ok but in my bearded's tank I needed to know that his basking and shade spots were within proper range. Overall, they're not horrible but if you're looking for an accurate read of hot and cool spots, this isn't what you're looking for.

Overall Quality for what you pay
Love them, would be perfect if they stayed up but both fell within the first 2 days. Overall quality is really good, and they read accurately as well.

works great and are staying put
After reading the reviews I was concerned about the adhesion but that hasn't been an issue. They are easy to read, and I even have bad eyes. All in all, I'm happy and would buy again.

Good for reptiles
This is good for reptiles. I use this for my sulcatas to check their heat temperature. It does move when it reaches a certain temperature. In this summer, the temperature was in the triple digits and even though we had the AC on, it was still getting warmer inside my sulcatas enclosure. It reached to 90°F (is red). I sprayed it down and the temperature started lower. I would recommend this to use. Just be careful if your reptile/s are strong, it will come off eventually (happened to me twice).

Works Fine, Good Price
Seems to be working the way it should, and sticks great to the side of the terrarium. Would buy again, great price also compared to Petsmart. One downside I have noticed, it only comes with one sticky pad. So, if your 16-year old decided to take it off like a dingleberry, uh... good luck getting it back on. Seems like the thing to do would be to include a couple sticky pads with this, since it shouldn't be a one-use only kinda thing. It just seems logical people might wanna pull it off and move it at some point, but that's just my humble opinion. Difficult to read but accurate
I've always been a fan of Exo-Terra products and was in need of a thermometer for a new enclosure so purchased this recently. First thing's first, I do find this dial thermometer to reflect accurate temperatures even when compared to digital readings; when fixed into place, I find that I am able to achieve accurate readings within roughly 30 minutes. The thermometer comes with a self adhesive pad on the rear which allows you to fix this into position. I have always found the placement, size and adhesion of the pad to be great and have found these to adhere well to a wide variety of enclosures, plastic, glass or wood. Sadly, I do now have to criticise this thermometer. I have awarded this 3 stars from a potential 5, essentially stating that I think 'it's okay'. It is fit for purpose but I will probably not purchase this model again in the future. This is a nice looking product but I personally feel that it isn't the easiest to read, in spite of the bright colour coding on the face of the thermometer. I feel that Exo-Terra have wasted precious space by splashing their logo across at least a third of the surface area, meaning the actual dial range is cramped into a significantly smaller space than it needs to be. The digits are printed in tiny black lettering which shows up well against the yellow background but not so well in the other sections. Further, the red indicator doesn't show up well at all when in the hottest temperature range due to the red background which has been used on the face of the thermometer here. I recently purchased a model from a rival company within the same price range which has a black face with white printed digits. Despite looking much more simple and having no colour coding, I actually find it far easier to read. In addition, the temperature range is spread across a much larger area as the company logo is much smaller which also makes taking accurate readings easier than when using the Exo Terra PT2465. broke withing 2 days
stays on 20 degrees celsius, although the tank is much warmer, very inaccurate, and could be dangerous. do not buy. its cheap and tempting, but dont risk you animals to save a few pounds. i have learned the hard way, so you dont have to. but something waterproof, and a bit more expensive. just to keep you animal safe.

I've used these for my 6 inch boa who's now nearly 12ft n 27yrs old ..one fell off after .. 13..5yrs but other still in ther n just fitted my teagu viv ..sleeping room .. out wiv them ..n looking forward to another 20 yrs of service so top marks n excellent make .. the both of them are being extremely tested n viewed at present by my 7 mths old teagu n so far giving 100% .. again 100%value n service .. very loyal customer .. 27y .. 28yrs in August...

Good to have but by no means perfect
I have one of these at either end of a 3 foot vivarium and a hygrometer in the middle, they’re a little higher than the snakes level so they’re always a little higher than the temperature where she is. I also have a laser gun thermometer because I’m very untrusting of things that are cheap and convenient, but they are generally accurate and definitely worth having in the vivarium as I always have a rough estimate of the temperature if I’m just quickly checking but I wouldn’t rely on them alone.

UNSAFE! Do not trust these readings.
I thought I’d get this for my Vivarium. Please don’t make the same mistake as me. This is more like a toy, the readings are completely wrong which is dangerous when you need a certain temperature for your pets. I even put it in the fridge and it was still reading 20 degrees. How the hell can my fride be 20 degrees? Vivarium was at a steady 26 degrees, this rubbish item reads 30+ DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS.
