Thin lightweight peel, good for launching
Got this peel primarily for building and launching pizza. Wanted wood because metal sticks to uncooked dough too much. Haven't had any issues with sticking using this peel as long as dough is well floured. Also can use cornstarch or 0 flour to help dough slide off. Peel is lightweight so easy to maneuver. Much easier to launch than the thicker wood peels made of acacia, etc. Peel is thin enough that you could also use it to remove pizza from oven, but the peel will burn on the bottom where it touches pizza stone (experience from ooni koda 16 which gets to 900F). Because of this would use a metal peel to remove pizza instead. Overall this peel easy to clean. Seems to be made from similar composite material as their cutting boards.

A solid compromise pizza peel
So - let me be straight with you - my wife can only tolerate so many pizza making specific items in our kitchen. Between the cast iron pizza pan, the pizza plates, the stand, the constant bread flour, the fancy crushed tomatoes, etc... its plenty of stuff. I wasn't going to be able to buy both a metal and a wooden peel. I know people can get away with one of either, but both have their downsides at some point in the pizza making process. I was using a cutting board, made by the same brand as this peel (which worked really well by the way - try it before buying something) but it had a smaller diameter than my pan and I am trying to maximize the size of my NY style pizzas. So I bought this peel. It is great! No real issues. I guess I wish it was a tiny bit thicker, by the handle and it just feels a wincy bit flimsy. But not really - it shouldn't deter you. It's just a heads up. If you are looking for a single peel that is easy to clean and dishwasher safe, this is it. I'm considering cutting down a dowel, and sawing it in half, and then screwing the halves together to create a rounded handle on this peel. It would make it perfect for me. Anyways, stop reading this and get on that pizza making!

I’m glad I bought this instead of a metal pizza peel, because we can also use it as as cutting board. My family uses it all the time.

Excellent, but It would have been nice if at lease one of the two they sent me wasn't damaged...
I'm giving this a 5-star review only because I had the exact same one a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, it got left behind in a move... So, I recently ordered a replacement but it arrived damaged; a small ding on the lip of the peel. (no damage to the packaging). I returned that one and the replacement also arrived damaged (in the same spot). Again, no damage to the box or the plastic it was sealed in. I can only surmise that this was damaged before it arrived at Amazon. I mean, you can use this thing as a cutting board so it would take a pretty good whack to cause the damage I saw. Decided on a refund instead of trying for another replacement. That's a shame because it is an excellent, well-made peel and I REALLY wanted another one... In spite of everything, I would still highly recommend this peel. BTW, I've had 3 of these and NONE of them had any off-odor at all.

Works great but smells like formaldehyde
Ok I was so excited to use this. We assembled the pizza right on the peel and used to successfully insert and remove the pizza from the oven. Make sure you use plenty of flour or it might stick a little. My main concern is it smells very strongly of formaldehyde. Not to be morbid but it nauseated me because it really smells exactly like the cadaver lab back in school. My fiance didn't think the pizza smelled but I definitely could tell the odor transferr d to the crust. I only hand washed it but I will run through dishwasher a few times.

Love the board but TERRIBLE odor
REVISED- odor has since gone away. Have repurchased more because they're the perfect size to build pizzas to launch into my Ooni pizza oven. I have 8 of them so I can prep 8 pizzas ahead of time to launch into my pizza oven and then I can put them back on it for serving/cutting. I also really like these because they're light weight and dishwasher safe. Love the pizza peel and love Epicurean products in general but these pizza peels have a really strong and strange odor when wet. When they're dry and being used, it's fine but once wet, the smell is awful. Not sure why as I have 3 Epicurean cutting boards and non of them have this issue. Like the product but skeptical of quality.

Very pleased
I've bought this pizza board (17" x 10") for my husband and he really likes it. It stepped up is cooking pizza game. The size is really okay for medium sized pizza. It allow the pizza to slide very easily from the board to the oven without any trouble. It super easy to clean and the material looks very sturdy and hard to break. We might buy one larger next time!

I want more
I had a chopping board similar to this but it marks with the knives so it doesn't get used much any more. This one is fabulous for launching pizzas and I wish I had a number of them so I could make up pizzas on them, then serve them on once cooked. I use it with my Ooni and it's a perfect fit.

great paddle!
looked on amazon when purchasing the ferrari g3 pizza oven for a good quality paddle that was nice n large for pizza. found a variety of sellers with versions of this one at a lot higher price! after researching it online i decided to purchase and was not disappointed. its very large, but still easy to use. i dust mine lightly with semolina and my homemade pizzas easily slide off. its also easy to get the pizza back on. only thing i wonder is why they are so highly priced?..... but i suppose that as they are an item from the usa, and made of specialist wooden material you have to pay for quality. i will def be buying a second one as soon as possible.

Great product!
I use it with the Lodge Pizza Pan to make new york style pizzas and it works great! Sometimes it flexes a little with large pizzas, but nothing much. I did notice a tiny bit of a smell when I was washing it the first few times, but it went away quickly. Would definitely recommend this!

Great product, sturdy and washed great in the dishwasher... Great for pizza prep and putting the pizza in the oven, use four or semolina to stop sticking also would recommend a thin metal peel for pizza removal.
