I reviewed this product poorly, as included below. ENER-G+'s warranty has a customer service number, which I called. Robert Burghardt, at ENER-G+ was very helpful. He talked me through things on the phone and even sent a video to me showing what to do. There are TWO buttons, one of them being black and concealed in the little half-moon area. Both that and the red rocker button have to be in the "on" position. The light works wonderfully now and I give it 5 starts so far (only been working for one day). I give an overall 4 starts, however, because the instructions provided by the company are terrible. If you are having problems, call the company (866) 967-7333 ex 227. I have suggested that, at the very least, they post the information that they gave me on the product's Amazon website. Maybe you will find the video posted! OLD REVIEW - Beware! This item did not work when we opened the box. Unfortunately, we waited past the 30 day return date to test it. I am not complaining that we can't return it (although 30 days is very short), but that there appears to be no one in the world or at the Ener-g company who knows anything about this product. The pamphlet that comes with it has very little information at all (one paragraph on operation). Nothing on trouble shooting, nothing on how or who might repair it. Just nothing. I might as well as taken my $150 and burned it. Maybe some kid somewhere can make a spaceship out of it. I should have known to run the other way when it said it was made in China. Amazon, I expect you to vet your products better. It seems like you are selling a bunch of junk these days and don't care.

Recommended for its size.

Exactly what they describe it as. I mounted it on our covered deck to cut the winter chill. Our deck is closed on two sides and open to our favorite views of the mountains. It cuts the chill as long as there is no wind. Looks good, remote works well and with a 10 foot ceiling that is a bonus. It does glow - it is infra-red after all. I like the light as I like to read on the deck in the evenings a didn't build with a light. I've seen complaints about the amount of heat. It isn't a huge heater and while I haven't measured it, I believe it puts out the 1500 watts advertised. Higher outputs are going to require higher current and/or voltage than the typical 120v circuit. That is the advantage of this size. If I want more heat, I'd have to run a new circuit or go to gas. Both at high cost. In an enclosed room 1500 watts will heat the room, outside it doesn't. We sit on our deck with lap robes and coats in the winter. This heater lets us do it into the 40s without wind without the jackets-our lap robes make it cozy. Recommended for the size of heater it is.

Little light Little heat

This barely puts out any light and heat not recommended unless you are having it directly overhead and close

It's perfect for a small area

We have this in my outdoor kitchen and use it frequently. It's perfect for a small area, but not for heating a large area. I keep it over my table, and it projects enough to warm your head and upper body, but the feet don't get the heat. It's easy to install and simple to use. The remote is great. The light is bright.

Nicely made and really warms things up

This really warms up our gazebo and appears to have quality construction and is very attractive. My only complaint is that you can only use the remote from one angle, and you have to be close to the device. I was hoping I could point the remote from the kitchen window and turn on the heater to warm things up before going outside. Unfortunately, the remote does not work 10 feet away.

Missing and broken parts

Purchased used one, package went through Amazon warehouse (had their tape on it) item came with out styrofoam to protect the top. No remote control in box, no directions or any paperwork and the inner heating coal does not heat up. Sending it back. Just spend the money to buy new.

UPDATE!!!!!!! Broke after 3 weeks

The 600W element went out after 3 weeks. Returned unit. :( I like this heater a lot. I can't imagine why anyone says it doesn't put heat out because it does even on the lowest setting. It is a bit bright at night but that's easy to overlook for the great heat. Remote control works just fine. It has three buttons....one for the light, one for low heat and the 3rd button is for high heat (you can have both heat buttons on for max heat). I checked my power bill and noticed very little increase over the previous day after running it several hours. I'm happy!

Minimal heat radius

I have this hanging about 4 feet above the center of my gazebo table. No matter where you sit the heat coming off this is minimal. It looks great, packaged well but I wish it actually offered better heating.

Exactly what I was looking for

Arrived in perfect condition. It is light weight and easy to hang. I read the reviews before buying and made sure to special purchase the correct, dedicated extension cord for it (it has a specific voltage). It is centred in my outdoor gazebo. I’ve only had it a few weeks so can’t speak to how long it will last -winter will be the test. While it won’t heat the area in cold weather, it definitely takes out the chill (so far have tested at 1 degree Celsius). It actually does have 3 heat settings-you just need to play with the remote a bit to figure it out. I like that I can turn it in from inside the house before going outside so it has a chance to warm up first. No need to use the light in it if you have the heater on-the heater is pretty bright on its own. All in all, exactly what I was looking for at a good price.

Better than expected

So simple to set up and looks great over my outdoor dining table. I’d like it to be a little warmer, although it is warmer than I actually expected, so I have ordered a second one to have two hanging above my six person outdoor table. I would recommend this heater. The remote is great, but you don’t have to use it. Bonus LED light too.

Lot's of heat

In addition to this new model heater I just bought in May 2020, I have an older model of this heater and find that the new one is even better. The wiring at the top is safer. I never use the remote control that comes with it. So now I have two of these heaters for the length of the table and better coverage for those seated on our deck.
