Sophisticated "Pig Iron" at its finest, worth every penny.
This low ceiling pot rack was made with "American Ingenuity" meaning over-engineer the thing, keep it simple, and make it tough to take beatings. Let me tell you a story of how watching re-runs of Home Improvement (remember the 90s?) with Tim Allen and Iron Chef (the original Japanese version) on the Food Network in PIP (Picture in Picture), gave me an inkling at 2:00am in the morning to do a kitchen project. So, true to Amazon's ways of wanting its customers to go on an impulsive buying spree, I went ahead and bought a pot rack! I originally bought a different brand on Amazon which was Enclume's competitor, but it was not meant for my low ceiling of 7' 8". I know I measured at 3 am in the morning. Returning said pot rack, I went ahead and shelved the cost of this Enclume. 1. I am from the Pacific NW and I have to keep it local because that's the in thing these days, buy things local instead of giving your money to the man! Somewhere in that sentence there is irony. 2. This thing is a bewt! The design is so simple but so elegant, dare I say a juxtaposition of sorts. As far as durability and able to hold on to things, please refer to the photos attached. I have the Kirkland Signature (yay Costco!) 13 pc try ply set. If you have a try ply set, you know those things are heavy. I have also have my Calphalon Commercial non-stick 13 pc set also hanging. This is easily, well over 70 lbs and the pot rack takes it all like a champ. As for installation, it depends on your house and whether you have exposed beams or they are "tucked in" your ceiling. you may have to MacGuyver your installation because not every house is the same (please refer to the photos). Since my kitchen is below the roof which is a "fan shape" due to the interior layout of my kitchen and sun room that leads to the backyard deck, the beams are not exactly symmetrical and quite angled at different places. I strongly recommend, anyone who attempts this installation to purchase a studfinder as this will save you lots of time. The anchor bolts that come with these are 2.5" long and are 5/16. These bolts were made specifically to fit into the premade holes Enclume drilled into the pot rack for hanging on to the ceiling. I tried to use "beefier" ones but they won't fit. The box does not come with flathead washers, I recommend you get you some rather than anchor bolt to beam directly. Price may be a concern, but this pot rack is worth every penny, especially for those that have a ceiling 9 feet or lower. I am definitely not disappointed.

The Last Pot Rack You Will Ever Buy!
My hubby went on a photography gig and was in someone's home who had a pot rack hanging over the kitchen island. He came home and told me about how neat it looked and the idea clicked that we had the perfect kitchen to add such a tool. Our kitchen has no walls into the living/dining area as they were cut down to a breakfeat bar and knee wall about 10 years ago. We started pricing pot racks at various retailers in the area and found them to be priced at about $500 with a 4-week lead time on delivery from Enclume. I found the same pot rack for less money on Amazon and it was delivered within 2 days. I even selected the less expensive shipping option of 3-5 business days. When the box was delivered, I was impressed at the high quality of the item when I unpacked it. This is really a very high quality rack and worth the money. We found our studs to mount it from and ended up running into a little issue with 2 of the holes since there were support braces under those 2 holes for the half roof over the kitchen. After 2 trips to the hardware to buy titanium drill bits to drill through the braces, we were successful in mouting the rack to the ceiling. As of this morning, the rack still hangs and the roof hasn't collapsed! I could not be happier with our Enclume pot rack.

Love this pot rack
Love this pot rack. It was easy to install and looks beautiful. It holds tons of pots and kitchen tools. I hung all my cast iron skillets on it and it holds them just fine. When I was putting it up a bag of hooks went missing so I was confused about how to install the grate. The box it came in had the phone number of the company on it so I called the number (a Washington state number) and a person picked up the phone right away. I explained that I didn't have the necessary part and she said she would see about getting the parts to me. Really great service! It turned out that a while later the bag of hooks reappeared so I called her back and apologized. Again, a person answered the phone right away. I can't be happier with the product.

SUBERB FOR LOW CEILINGS - HOLDS THE WEIGHT
We have a 7 1/2 foot ceiling and little space in our 10 X 12 kitchen. Some say you cannot have too many cabinets but I beg to differ. We have lots of cabinets things get lost in so we took out a cabinet that just jutted out into space over a counter top and put in this amazing Enclume rack. It only hangs down 8 inches from the ceiling and will take both toggle screws and regular screws. WE put in 2 long toggles and 4 heavy duty bolt like screws which came with it and I could hang from it. We have an eclectic kitchen and although some say this is more of an industrial look the warmth of the steel blended in just fine with our copper pots and rich medium oak cabinets and stainless steel frig. We like things out where we can see them and display wooden spoons on our walls and hang our knives on a rack and now our pots are out where we can just grab and start cooking. Cannot say enough, know it will last forever and love the basic design. Thanks Amazon!!!

Expensive but nice
It's a durable piece, that's for certain. Heavy and solid when mounted to the ceiling with those super-toggle things that it comes with. Note that they only included four toggles with mine but it requires six - I had to buy two more for about $2. For your reference, if you are mounting to studs they do include all six lag bolts. Also, you may want to know that it came with 18 hooks, I remember wondering about that when I ordered. 12 of the angle hooks and 6 straight hooks. I do not know how they achieved this finish - it's like a mild black oxide that's frozen in it's current state by a waxy substance. A really handsome look. But it's basically just steel bar stock that has been expertly formed, so keep that in mind... you're paying for the workmanship, not the materials. Don't be alarmed when you look at it and say "this is just steel bar stock! Why was it so expensive?" It's expensive because it takes special tools and many years of experience to make it look like that. Only Enclume still makes things like this.
