Great extension for drilling in walls

Great extension for drilling in walls! I ordered one from Klien and it stated it was 3/16". I assumed that meant the shaft. No that was the max size drill bit that it would take. This one takes 1/4 quick disconnect bits so you can use all the bits you already have for your 1/4' impact. Made in America too!

Great product and great customer service!

This item is perfect for drilling holes in framing in walls with existing drywall. Really flexible and sturdy. Perfect for anyone installing wiring. The customer service on the part of Eagle Tool is also amazing. One of the set screws fell out and was lost. I called their customer service line and they sent replacement screws out at no cost. That is how you run a business and keep customers!

Works Great, Be Sure Screws are Tight

I've seen lots of questions and reviews mentioning confusion over the two screws used to secure bits, so I attached a picture of the instructions. The instructions are a sticker on the shipping box, so I can see why many people would miss them. In any case, be sure that if you're not using a hex bit that you get both screws really tight on the bit. With bits that have the ends filed down in a triangular shape, you'll need to wiggle the bit a bit to be sure a flat surface is against the screw. What you really don't want to have happen is to have the bit come loose when it's in a finished wall that you can't reach. Required but not included is a 1/8" Allen wrench ("hex key") to tighten the screws. You can mostly tighten them with a 3mm, but it will slip before getting it really secure, and you have to get them really secure. I have used two of these together to double the length, and that works fine. I would not recommend trying to get much flex out of these. You can get away with putting a small hole in the drywall when drilling down and cover it up later with a blank electrical plate, but your resulting hole will be at an angle. I was able to recover one that I accidentally dropped into a wall using a hole like that, though. Note that I bought the 52" version (ETHX25052), though I see the listing has now changed to the 36" version. I assume the products are identical apart from the length.

Sturdy with very little flex

There isn't much flex in this product. I was actually expecting more flex and thought it wasn't going to work for what I purchased it for. However, I was able to make it work. Giving it 5 stars for a solid, made in the USA product. If your buying it for flex, keep that in mind. (Note: this is the 36 inch extension)

Huge head runout cable bit extension.

Inserted 1/4" round in the cable bit extension head and tightened set screws. At 3" from the head face the total indicated runout was 1/8".

Way better than what they sell in hardware stores

The hardware stores around me only have 3' extensions, and they have warning on them to not use bits over a certain size. This one is long enough to reach through the mid-wall nogging! It's also much thicker in diameter from the ones in the store, comes with no warning on what size bits to use and it's performed great with a 1" hole auger. The set screws are a little lame but they serve their purpose.

VERY STURDY!

Great extension bit. I thought its bendable, but not as much as I thought it would. It's very sturdy and if you're looking for a long extension bit, then this is what you're looking for.

Shank not hex as stated

The shank is round and not hex as stated. This means it does not grip well in the drill chuck.

Screws become loose.

Product is not designed well. The screws become lose and I lost my bit in cieling. Finally retrieved my bot and retired and again the screws came out loose. Should be a lock and snap system. Dont get this product.
